I need to know if anyone who smokes has also used marinol. My mother has a SEVERE case of MS and I am debating on whether or not I should move out to cali or somewhere that has cannabis clinics, or if I should look into getting her a prescription for marinol. Basically, I want the stronger of the two with the least side effects. Anybody done both?
BTW: I smoke, but as bad as my mom is she needs it everyday, so also which is more expensive?
Hash brownies.cake/muffins/scones, etc would be better. marinol only contains THC, and there are many more things in actual cannabis that have medicinal use than THC. THC isnt all your mom needs, the other cannaboids are really where its at.
ya, I thought about cooking because I don't want my mom ruining her lungs because she needs to smoke 4-5 times everyday, 365 days a year. Dude, you would be amazed at what weed does for her, it allows her to walk and talk and not have this painful feeling like when you foot falls asleep. Imagine that feeling, only on the entire right half of your body. Plus, she gets appetite and is actually happy instead of miserable.
That's wonderful that pot really does that much for her. It's amazing how benifitial it really is, people just dont understand. Best of wishes for your mother.
okay do this for her JDiz, 3 grams, or a BIG bag of schwagg, then break it all up nice, shake even, whatever, and put it in a pan, and cook it till it starts to turn brownish, but DONT let it start to smoke, if it smokes, then its TOO hot. once it start turning brownish, put butter in there, mix it really well, till all the bud is buttery, then put it in a strainer, not a pasta one, but the ones that are like a handle, with a big screen like the size of a cereal bowl at the end and take a big spoon, and SQUISH the buds against the screen and there will be like a golden butterthick liquid, that is POWERFUL STUFF, put about 2 tablespoons for eatch 3 inch cookie. now, take the bud that you have left over in the strainer, and make sure it still broken up real nice, and then pour it all in with some brownie mix, and then pour mix into a metal brownie pan, and then bake your goods, and give her about two 3 inch cookies every day, and about two brownies about 4 inches by 2 inches.
she will feel even better than if she smoked it!! use sativa, not indica.
P.S. i typed this in hopes that it will REALLY help her! i am sure it will, i hope every thing goes okay, please let me know how your results are, this really is one of my favorite recipes, and EVERY one at the cannabis club absolutley LOVES them, and i have seen many good results with thime in victims of MS, cataracs(sp?), and multiple different Back problems, etc.

My mom volenteers with some program were she helps this lady with MS. I should give her some brownies to bring her. :D :D :D
i was given a script for 2.5 marinol a couple months ago and they sit in the fridge short 4 to this day. it did nothing to help the muscle spasms and in fact only made for a general feeling of uneasiness for me and another friend with skeletal/muscular pain. they're also very expensive and most insurance companies do not cover them (mine covered all but 50-some bucks of the 280 normal cost for 30 tho)

Yea, don't waste your money on marinol. It's shit and not worth the hype.
well, i never heard of browning the bud before the actual cooking begins and in fact most recipes specifically call for using as low of a heat setting as possible to allow for simmering. most recipes call for cannabutter too and not cooking the greenery into the food (it feels like chewing on sand and not very tasty). here's a link to a current thread going on at marihemp about different recipes and their benefits along with links to other sites with recipes (i'm kinda surprised this site has yet to open a room for the cannabis culinary arts). a quick google on 'cooking with cannabis' will bring up a shitload of more sites to visit too...

yeah took 4 of them really high for like 3 hours.
I ate three once and it wasn't anything special.
You're high for sure, but there is something missing, it didn't feel natural. Just stick with the real stuff if it's possible.
Then again I took them recreationally, it may be just the trick for your mother's pain.
Other than that I don't know about prices or anything, mine were free.
Buy her a vaporizer if you don't want her smoking.
they cost ten to 15 bucks per pill.
they take forever to work and then come on way too strong.

i've used it a couple of times, not trying to get into 'other psychotropics' discussion, just trying to offer my opinion....
i think it's actually too strong... i mean with any other form of weed, there is some level of control, with this, there is none, one pill can even cause an 'over powered' 'high' in which you get nasuea, depends on the person, and the situation i guess...
either way, i recommend sticking to cannabis... i have done both at the same time, so they ~seem~ to be relatively safe in combination...
I tried it and didn't like it. It was OK to start with, but was like eating too large a dose at the end. Also, the buzz wasn't "whole". It was as if you were only getting a part of the buzz.
i would stay away from marinol personally, evertime man tries to make natural drugs pharmecutical... the side affects are worse then the problem itself
