Important question...need help!!
Well I've got some plants going and I've been wondering about different things to try since it's my first go and I am open to anything that I would learn from...
Alright here's the proposal, and remember it's strictly a stoned idea :stoned: So think of it as one...
I was wondering if there is anything you can water your plant with or mix with your water that would alter the flavor, or smell, or aroma of the smoke, or even the colour (you know, like turning the piece of celery you brought home from science class blue with food coloring and water when you were like 8) ??
I mean think about it, if you have to be careful what you mist your plants with because you dont want to smoke the chemicals thats in whatever you're spraying, why wouldn't spraying it with something TASTY or APPEALING work? I mean, I'm sure there's a reason it wouldn't work but if someone has an idea how it might I'm interested :rasta:

I've heard some unscrupulous dealers will do that to sell "blueberry".
My main concern with flavoring/scenting pot is that it would mask the bud's true character. If it's your own, you can do what you like (some folks even cure with orange and lemon peel to impart a scent)...I wouldn't buy altered buds. But that's just me.

JDOGG adds nutrients hat sweet'en up his BUD...

Hmmmm what kind of things does he add?

Hopefully he will come on here ( this thread) and share his love making techniques...

 I'm stoked that this is possible. I'm interested to hear more about it! Thanks guys!!
I would only do it to one plant, maybe two. I am hoping to have at least 5 girls on my first try this summer :) The rest of the bud will be puuuuure...um....bagseed weed?? haha (But it was really good weed though that seeds came from, saved the best that I smoked over the last year!! Yeah I know truly good weed shouldn't have seeds but hey, I get some good stuff that has the occasional seed. I'm talking about 10-20 seeds in an OZ. Not too bad...I think? haha)
PS: sorry...am :stoned:
edit:
Would curing with lemon, lime, orange peels really affect the aroma or taste?? Or is that just wishful thinking and a waste of time??

Here's the deal.
If you want buds that taste like Blueberry.
Grow Blueberry.
If you want M<ango ,grow mango.
And so on.
There are strains for every fruit flavor on earth.
And they taste more like those fruits then if flavored with the juice or something.
The plant changes the sugars when it takes it in.
So adding flavored stuff doesn't seem to work(my friend tryed with pineapple juice) he would have had fruitier bud if he just got the right strain.
On top of that it is important to feed them the right stuff to bring out the sweetness. It just brings out it's natural flavor. So once again it depends what strain you use.
You want to feed them Sea Bird and Bat Guano.
LIke BUdswel or Fox Farm Big Bloom.
Alot of the time it's the chemical nutes that ruin the flavor.
I suggexst using Pure Blend Pro bloom for soil, silicate and either Budswel or Big Bloom.
I"m trying Big Bloom this time.

OK here is a list of strains and there fruity flavors.
Of course BlueBerry
Mango
NYCDiesel(Grapefruit)
God Bud, Purple Urkle, some Romulan have a grape flavor.
Orange Kush taste like Oranges big time!!!
So any orange strain.
They have Banana, Strawberry Cough ,Apple and so on.
No need to flavor your weed.
Just grow the right strain with organic's.

i think its crazy how a plant can grow smelling like blueberry candy...
truely magical imo
-

And JDog, you feed sugars to help the plant synthesize its own natural aromatics, right?
Which would of course bring out the strain's own characteristics.

Thanks for the response JDOG!! I realize whatever I do it won't make it as fruity as something like "Juicy Fruit" or "Blueberry," I was just curious if it worked.
This is my first real grow (helped me sister twice) and it's all bag seed so I don't mind experimenting with a plant or two! Oranges are my favorite fruit so I think when I grow next spring-to-fall I'll order some Orange Kush seeds, but like I said... All I've got right now are 11 outside bagseed plants.
What about the curing? Does using fruit peels change anything? I know you can use them to add a little moisture back into your too dry bud, but never thought about using it to flavor or influence aroma...

My understanding is that you can make you plants taste and smell like virtually anything if you are growing in hydro. Vanillia? Mint? Mocha? Lavender? I have not experimented with this but have thought about looking into it.

drink pinapple juice.. it makes things SWEET...

I would like you to keep in mind that this is just a grow from bagseed. I'm experimenting, I WANT to try things! In the future I WILL grow strains that I hand pick, but for now, I am looking to do whatever I can to influence my final product in a way I would like! And I think/hope there is still some hope on this one!
I just came across something in the "old Overgrow faqs." It was under a question about "How did they get different strains different tastes?"
It said it depended on the levels of I think 5 substances. One of which was Limonene. Naturally occuring. Rinds of fruit. Lemon peel, orange peel...Limonene is what gives it it's scent! Limonene can be found purely in Orange Oil (oil extracted from the rind of an orange).
Wouldn't watering your plant with some Orange Oil in the water add Limonene to your plant? I am taking a leap here and I would say Limonene is at least partly responsible for the citrus smell and flavor that comes with some strains, since it is FOUND in citrus fruit!!!

The best thing you can do is get some Liquid Karma nad some sweet along with some Budswel for the sea bird and bat guano.
But the sweet has cane sugar and some other stuff that will sweeten up the buds.
I just started using it along with Liquid Karma.
I wouldn';t do the fruit peel thing.
It ruins the taste in my opinion.
Natural MJ flavor can not be beat.
So why try?

Im just curious Jdog7000, have you ever tried using any form of Limonene to supplement your plants?
I am not grasping how Limonene would "ruin" the taste of marijuana, since what it does for the plant is give it the citrusy smell/flavor?? It's natural, and it is found IN the actual plants. I will take a giant leap and say in the citrusy strains that Limonene is at "high" levels. (I use "" because I am not sure what a "high" level would be, but obviously Limonene is dominant in those strains or it wouldnt taste/smell the way it does!)

Yes, exactly.
The flavor comes from carbon-based aromatic chemical compounds.
Sugar is an excellent form of available carbon.
If you give your plants as much carbon as they can use, you will maximize the plants' genetic potential to produce these aromatic compounds.
I recently started adding Sweet to my ferts and have noticed the smell of my flowering girls is already marginally more pronounced.

Some people dissolve sugar in their water feedings to produce a more pronounced flavour. It works.

I'm glad I read this thread, as I was just thinking the other day about possibly curing with orange peel, as I love the scent of orange, but hearing how it doesn't really enhance the scent or taste of cured MJ, I won't even bother.
Not that I have anything to cure yet. I just started my first grow, and a late season one, at that. :P

How much sugar do you use in hydro?
And if your happen to not like the flavor of a particular varitey, would it be possible somehow to reduce flavor without reducing potency?

Sabrina, I have been learning more and more that you had better not trust just any one post. Many are flat out bad advice. Many people here (and other places) like to spout out conjecture as if it were common knowledge, then put you down for dissagreeing (I'm not talking about any person or post in particular). Do a bunch of research on whatever you are intersted in. Get as many opinions as possible, then decide what is best for you. That decision may be the wrong one, but experimentaion plays a huge part too. There is no substite for the knowledge and experience of others for a learning tool, but of couse the best one by far is your own experience.
Good luck, and please try to enjoy your journey despite the assholes you will meet along the way. It's fascinating.

This sounds interesting. Would too much sugar hurt the plant..? I am thinking of testing this out but don't want to harm my baby! 1 tsp/gal?? Maybe 2 tsp/gal??
