New setup pics! Give advice please...

Hey cannibis gang, this is my 1st setup in my house or at all. After reading a bunch of info I got the basics down and built this in my closet discreetly. Here's how the setup runs:
-roughly 20 inch tall, 15 inch wide
-aluminum foiled walls to increase exposure
-around 200w tube light
-around 100w heat lamp

1st pic is w/o lights on(just normal pic), 2nd is w/ heat lamp on

THE PLANT IS NOT MARIJUANA GANG, it's a random plant to show size of cabinet, the height of it, pot and all, is 10 inches. Do you think this setup is decent enough to grow a single healthy mj plant??? Also, is there anything I'm leaving out??? I'm thinking 15:9 hours light:dark for a month then 12:12...

Well first of all I'm sorry to burst your bubble but.... That little
grow room of yours was a nice try but that will NEVER work.
There is not enough light, air circulation,not to menchin you
didnt even tinfoil all of the walls, also did you use the dull side?
The general idea was good but basically you need an entire room
dedicated to growing if your trying to be searious about things.
Your plants will outgrow that contraption in a 2 weeks unless you
do a scrog but even then good luck if your a beginner. Sorry to be
the guy to bring the bad news but 86 the plastic container....

P.S. - and if you cant afford hid lighting goto walmart and get the swirly
compact flourecent bulbs there 10 dollar a piece but your still going to
need to run fans on your grow they will burn your plants if they touch
them.

First loose the heat lamp.

Second loose the foil that will create heat spots, Mylar is what you want or just use flat white paint.

Third pick up a few 40w CFL they are cheep. There are a few great threads on the exact model to buy.

How are you going to deal with exhaust and fresh air in if you put the cover on?

Cleaver idea too btw on using a tub that way!!

You don't have a lot of room to grow from seed you need to keep it small so pray for a female on your first try. If you can get a clone it would work the best.

What are you going to do about odor control?

It will smell up your cloths that hang in the closet.

Don't think you can hide this from people in the same house they will know at some point.

Okay that might be a little bashing on the 1st reply but I'll take some advice. 2 important things I need to get out though is that this isn't complete yet, the whole thread's point of the thread was to help make it good. 2nd, I don't plan on flowering in this thing, I just want to grow them about a foot high then transplant them in a good outdoor spot. Thanks for the info though guys, I'm gona rethink the setup.

ya it's chill dudes, about the heat lamp though, isn't a lot of heat necessary for these palnts to grow well? I mean it just adds a few derees and some more light... :rasta:

15:9 wont work, in veg MJ needs 18 hours minimum of light, so try 18/6 if not 24/0.
the heat lamp should be fine to keep in there, since one flo tube shouldnt produce that much heat...depends how hot it gets in your town i guess...
you should also add a fan in there if you're gonna use the heat lamp, or the leaves will curl and die from too much heat exposure

You will need ALOT more light to grow MJ effectively...especially with fl's...also you need to keep them very close to the plant so you need a way to move it up and down...from what I have read and done...you will need about 2000 - 3000 lumens per square foot to grow effectively...

Also, you DONT need alot of heat to grow MJ...I believe the optimal temp. is between 76 - 80 depending on who you ask and your setup...

First of all, Zandors comments are all valid - as usual.
I don't know about that fluoro but it doesn't look like 200watts to me.
Scrap the foil itâ??s too noisy and easily ripped. Find some mylar. Cover all surfaces with it.
Like Zandor said, get 1 or 2 40watt CFLs in there. And a small fan. You will need to somehow cater for just enough ventilation to keep temperatures controlled. I just left a gap at the bottom and top of the door.
Again, like Zandor said - be aware that odor will be an issue.
I prefer 5000K+ range CFLs. Only because the plant seems to like it more.
My experimental box is approx 28inches high, 18inches across and 20 inches deep.
If you wanted to finish a grow in that box then I recommend adopting a very basic, small, hand watered type hydro system.
Otherwise that setup will be fine for vegging prior to transplant.

I yielded just shy of 2ounces, bone dry and totally by accident on my first attempt. I didn't plan for such a yield and could've gotten more with some more creative LST. Also I was vegging and still flowering the first week with just one 23Watt 6500K CFL. It wasn't until then I swapped in the 5000K CFL. I then flowered for 4 more weeks before I also added a 48Watt 3000K CFL.
I also didn't utilize all the space properly. Especially vertically.
The key to yield I believe is maintaining optimum plant health and using a soil less medium.

Please do yourself and all of us a favour and remove the heat lamp, if your going to have something that creates so much heat, then why not match it with lumens, go for a 400watt High Pressure Sodium with stainless steel reflector, this will help redirect any lost light.
I use a 400watt for vegitation (18/6) and flowering (12/12) but only fluorescent light for clones..........
you will find that with a 400w, you'll get beautiful leaf coverage, and nice early branching, for ultimate growth always keep at a regulated distance of about 12-14" from the top of the plants to the light bulb/globe.
But if you don't have the spare cash laying around i agree with Zandor!
you should listen to him, he is wise!

good advice from all you guys, I'm remodeling the whole setup as we speak (getting rid of the heat lamp right now should make u guys happy): looking into buying the pylar tomorrow along w/ two good flo. lights like in the advice 2 comments above this. Looking into fans, and I can't wait to plant these seeds guys, I have them right now and they came from a very good weed, from really nice light green mj buds. Their smoke was an excellent high and I hope anything I grow from their seeds will provide the same.
