Which is better Mylar or flat white wall paint?
When i grew i just painted the room white it
seemed to work grate. Has any of you used both
and which do you think increases more lumens per
square foot. Me and a few of my grow buddies
have been debateing this issue forever..LOL
I read on here not too long ago that mylar reflects 97% light and white paint reflects 89%. Correct me if i'm wrong...

I dunno but when I build my indoor grow op people have convinced me to use mylar :p.

Either way, I am pretty sure that flat white paint reflects light more evenly than mylar does...Mylar can get "hot spots" and the like...

I heard from a friend on this site ( I forget who...:() but they were saying that they had a light meter and that flat white paint reflected better than mylar according to their tests...
maybe i am wrong though...

I have been saying flat white with my buddies.
Like said in an above post easy to wash/sterilize.
Opposed to tearing all that Mylar shit down and
re doing the room in it. But really i never noticed
any difference in bud quality. I always thought
mine was the best but every grower has that
ego type when comparing with your co-op
buddies.
I know "The Cannabis Grow Bible" could be wrong... However, it is well written and the author - Greg Grreen did a great job writing it. This is what he wrote: " White-colored material is best for reflecting light; not shiney, glossy white, just pain matte white. A white wall will relect more ligt than a mirror or foil - if you use foil, use the dull side. A cheap can of lflat white paint will give you almost 99% reflectivity for a couple of years. Others line their grow areas wih Mylar..."
At one point I tried putting the packing peanuts styrofoam in the buckets, but found after about 10 days a yellowish film started on top of the soil. I took it all out and put it on the floor which is working very well that way.

I do not grow indoors anymore do to I was
robbed once and I have feel in love with
growing outdoors now. I grew inside for
around 6 years but after i was ripped off
like that my opinions of people and what
I do has changed. I still miss walking into
my little grow room and seeing my accompl-
ishments though.

All the information I have seen indicates that mylar is superior to white paint for reflectivity. Cleaning etc is another question.
You may not notice the difference if you have a 1000watt HID 12 inches above your scrog canopy. But CFL growers will notice the difference. I do anyway.
Yeah, id say the same for CFL's
I used a 1000 watt HPS for vegetive and a 1000 watt Metal
Halide for flowering in an 8x8 room usually fitting around
6-7 plants. I don't know if the lighting i used had anything to
do with the reflection off the flat white paint, most of the time
yielding around a pound- 2 pounds a plant give or take. (cured weight)
Maybe im just hard headed when i find something that works
I stick with it. The whole if its not broke don't fix it theory. Some
growers get to complicated in their growing methods and take
all the fun out of it. Growing is meant to be enjoyed. My advice
to any new grower indoor or out door is to buy a simple grow
book Ed Rosenthal's books are the ones i enjoyed the most
simple and to the point, and that if you are a beginner do
not expect some miraculous yield your first time around.
You will pick up little tricks of the trade with each grow and
over all make it an enjoyable experience not a stressful one.
Trying to fit all you have herd into your first go around will
only leave you in disappointment and possibly so feed up
that you give up on another try.

I use panda plastic, because it gives me a light tight black on one side and 90% reflective white on the other, and doesn't look like dope growing reflective material...peace
Paint, it's cheap and that's all i care about!
