Hey guys.. If I transplant my 3 babies into bigger pots 3-4 weeks into flowering will it..
a} help grow bigger buds
b} help grow bigger buds and a taller plant
c} not help due to it being to late
d} hurt ur plants now
e} put to many more ferts into the medium. { would use foxfarms ocean forest} its got veg nutes.
THX guys. cause i have the pot room now seeing as 3 were males.
Basically I dont want taller plants. But I would love fatter buds :}
Hey BB,
I would not personally recommend repotting during flowering. It can be stressful to the plant.
I repot my girls into their permanent homes a week before starting 12/12, to give them time to adjust.
But that's just me.
i havent never heard of repotting a plant to give it stress
how could it cause stress it, its not like ya are messing with it cutting bits off it and that
all you are doing is giving it a bit more room to breath and spread out
do what ya have to do bob
i think if you do end up repotting i think this will be the outcome

Okey dokey. You must be right.
repotting will cuz stress but not that much . if u think ur getting root bound then go ahead and repot . i am a firm believer in that the size of the root ball determines the amount of bud u get .so if ur giving them more room to grow it can't do that much harm .

Im not positive im root bound. Actually I dont know how to tell. gonna "search" for that one now.
I HAVE to water each day. They get dry so quick.
I was not sure if they would get much taller with larger pots because I thought they stop growing taller in 3-4th week of flower. new to this all, so not too sure.
Growth has slowed a bit also. Might be due to my Late RE=LST. {they were too tall}

hey bob just wanted to ask u why did u repot the plants were the pots that small?????.....im a real noob with almost no experience but from my research and the help of good ppl around this and other foruns i recon the more u leave ur babies alone the better..

moving plant to bigger container = more of ur plant to smoke

Im not sure at this particular stage of growth if repoting will make a large enough difference to warrent doing it.
A quick check is to pick up the pot, pot and all (ha ha) and have a quick look at the drain holes. If you see a bunch of roots sticking out, that's a good indication it's appropriate to re-pot your pot.Quote:

Plants were put into flower last month on the 26th.
And im not sure if thats early or late.

p.s. no roots are comming through holes at bottom. I can see some roots in the holes but there not comming through like they need room.
I just considered Repoting to maximixe my buds and space.

if you have sexed them already then i would say NO just take what you get, if you do nto see a sex yet then i mean i personally wouldn;t unless thy were really cramped but its up to you to decide, look at what you have now
1. you have a healthy plant growing and flowering
2. you can actualyl get bud off of this
If you flower you have a few options:
1. You can kill the plants or hermi them (not good)
2. You can allow the plants to grow bigger thus producing more bud
Weigh your options, it's your bud

Okay Im one week out from switching over. There bigger than thy should be, 2foot tall root bound clones. very bushy and healthy. 2days ago I repotted using superthrive removed about 30 % of roots to free them up for new growth. So far they dont seem to of noticed as I said very healthy. Will foliar feed today to suplement and stimulate roots. Not a first timer. will let you know what happens. Im a bit worried but a good experiment.

no all your re-potting should be done atleast 2 weeks before flowering. Root growth slows dramaticly durning flowering. But you're right about bigger pot bigger buds. Just not after inducing flowering. You'd problem stress your plant enough to produce balls, if its a nicely sized plant. Re-potting 3 gallon or 5 gallon cannabis plant is no easy task.
what i would do is find a smaller pot than the pot its in now fill the new small pot with soil take the old pot the plant is in and make a few holes in the bottom more open place it on top of the new pot and lets the roots travel to the new pot underneath.

yes that is possible its called double potting. But the idea is to get A BIGGER POT to do that with, and once again finding someone to hold a 3 gallon or 5 gallon pot for about 10 mins while you cut out the bottom is no easy feat, nevermind doing on your own.
I have seen this happen a few times before. The roots were just flying out the bottom, but 4 weeks into flowering. First time, we just transplanted. Very carefully mind you. Luckily this was not one of the most prime plants, but a loss none the less: it grew balls 1 week later. Didnt even notice much performance change either, just one day balls showed up. We attributed it to the stress.Quote:

You still want the extra support the twin cannot provide. Now, in a swift but solid movement, lift the plant and pot into the waiting larger bucket/pot while you remove the bottom. Then, cut the 3 strings and the final piece of pot you didnt cut thruogh. Then, gently, open up the pot a little and slowly slide it out from around the plant. If you do it right, nothing will stick (dont water beforehand obviously) to the pot and you will be able to remove the entire old plastic pot with no stress and no root damage.
This...was the best method. The entire new bucket was filled with roots when we were done and the plant really took off after seeming very slow and stunted. About 4 weeks into flowering again.
That said, after recently observing a few more operations, I am sold on either shallow planter boxes or long, very thin and deep pots. I do not think you really need super wide and super long, just one or the other. Also if you do not water all the way through to the bottom, you will encourage roots to grow out rather then getting bound.
