Attention to the new OWNER: Ban the Minors ...

while I realize its not easy to judge the age of a member, I feel whenever it is obvious they are minors, (and there are currently MANY in here), they should be permanently banned from Cannabis.com ... it sends the wrong messages, it is Illegal, and draws the wrong kind of attention to this website ... we need to present a public conception of us, as responsible people ... it will prove to be impossible to ever get MJ legalization, etc, if we maintain this "teen stoner" "ghetto thug" image ... I fully expect to be flamed, but I have to say what I feel is right ... any parent discovering this website would be outraged, and probably will be referring their Congressman to it's existence ... if you think the government just 'stumbled' onto Overgrow, etc, don't kid yourself ... they didn't 'cover their ass' ... if you pull the Tiger's tail, you should expect to be hurt ... just my un-wanted two cents ... :smokin:

You are right..I read a post by a well known member saying he wouldnt be posting as much because he had to turn his schools computer in..would that not stand to reason when they find this website on it that they could make a dateline story out of how schools computers are being used? I thought there were restrictions on teenagers access to certain sites when using school equipment? I just thought of his post when I read yours...something serious to think about imo..

I know I probably come off as an uptight Nazi, or something, but it's just that I feel we will never make any progress with marijuana, if we don't present a better public image ... like it or not, laws are only changed by Voters, and political pressures ... there are damned few politicians or movers/shakers that are going to risk their careers over stoners that don't vote, talk nonsense, and can't write a thoughtful, intelligent letter for their support ... I could be in here sayin "dawg dude i wuz stond so kewl inskool tooday + bepimpin like a mofo too faroutdoods" ... instead, I used that time to write a letter to Senator Barbara Feinstein, seeking her support for medical marijuana (I actually received a non-form letter from her office ... she danced around the issue, saying she only supports medical marijuana for Cancer, and AIDS (she cant survive without that homo vote in the Bay area) ... but, you see my point: if we don't police ourselves, LEO will be happy to help ... :smokin:

you make it obvious, that you are cordial, intelligent, and concerned ... my problem with you being in these Forums is not a personal attack ... my only concern is the fact that we are, technically, "contributing to the delinquency of a Minor", which can be a serious offense in most areas of America, and more importantly, (because I am not a zealot about obeying the Law :D ), I am an adult of some years, that can see the laziness, lack of motivation, and diminished self-respect that occurs with young stoners ... disagree all you want, I defend your rights, but "youthful drug use is WRONG and is only going to negatively affect your life" ... I share this with you for thought...not to tell you what to do....

as a gifted human specimen of incredible and mind boggling athletic ability and physical prowess... I am very aware of the fact that smoking does damge to these gifts of mine...

if I would have smoked prior to the age of 23, I am sure that these gifts would have never reached there full potential... it is permenantly dibilitating to the body to intoduce toxins to it before it reaches maturity... damage done to the body at a young ages inhibits potential growth and maturation....

at 14 you are growing..growing... developing ... it is important to nuture your body with the best the world has to offer...

There are a clear set of rules posted in a sticky in both the lounge areas. SOME of the adults in here act worse than the kids....hell, I've got some hate e-mail to prove that! Bottom line is this, you won't get flamed for your views because it is against forum policy and it will be enforced, verbal warnings seem NOT to be working that well as of late...hint, hint!

If you under 18 and feel the need to strike out....better do it at home with your parents because it will not be tolorated in here by myself and hopefully others. SHOW RESPECT AND KEEP IT REAL!!!

As far as contributing.......if someone is under age and asks for growing tips...I just wouldn't reply.

Very true. I guess I'm a fairly well-respected member of this community, despite my age limit. I have noticed that this place is beginning to lose its value from kids coming in here who think they're doing something special by making complete fools and asses of themselves. In the 6 months I've been here, I've seen this place go from a place with just a few assholes to being full of mostly underage assholes. On banning, however, it should be based on a person's attitude and posting. I strongly believe minors can also be intelligent like any adult, you shouldn't throw us all in a worthless pile of shit group and ban us.

I don't see how a discussion board like this could in reality ban minors anyway. An IP address doesn't have an age associated with it, does it? And how would that ever be enforced even if there were a way to reliably screen for ages? It may be a nice idea, but it has no real practical execution, does it, other than the watchful eye of the mods? They're right that there are some really bad-mannered grownups on here, too, who throw fits and flame the mods like they're 13-year-olds. I'd practically rather screen for emotional maturity and common decency than chronological age. . . .

I see what you mean when you say "to hell with it all." The kiddie problem certainly seems rather hopeless when you read posts like that from people like that.

Banning kids won't root out the explicit problem of these boards.

People that call themselves adults aren't always top notch, either.

Having more active moderation would be a better thing to push for. Having someone with some executive ability that knows when a question has been asked thousands of times before someone else just asked it would solve the biggest problem I see on this forum. I am only bothered by reading the same question from a new person everyday. Charging someone to condense this knowledge or someone that is active in erasing both the accounts and threads of those asking a question that has already been asked one thread below them would cure one of the bigest things that makes this board a joke, in my opinion.

Forgive me for the offensive connotation behind this, but I just have not seen any active moderation on this forum since joining. I mean, maybe it happens. However, I don't read most threads that have nothing to do with Cannabis or its medicinal effects, or how to grow it properly. Maybe they are active in areas... That have nothing to do with anything this site should be about... But, like I said, I'm not there or to see it, as those materials are not what i come here to read. Meanwhile, the items bringing the intellectual property of the website down to 72 are ignored.

My opinion. I am sure its impolite. I knind of want it o be. Tending to insult fests and such is great. What about tending to things that annoy the living shit about hose actually here to talk about the plant, though? Scientifically, this site is suffering. Socially, its booming. I find that it should be for both, depending on what one person wants from it. However, Science appears neglected in favor of seperating people who can't get along. Maybe one can be accomplished by banning all the children... But where do you want hem to learn about things? Banning minors wouldn't do a damned thing. The drug is already illegal and there's no age barrier on it anyway. How many of you started smoking when you were a teenager and still do it? Some teenagers are wise beyond their years and extremely intelligent.
