Tricks to force sexual maturity of plants
Hi, I got 3 NL's on the go under 400W HPS but tiny cupboard and no ventilation other than keepiong the door open when the lihgt is on. Also using miracle grow :S
I dont want people commenting on my conditions - they cheap and get the job done for a fair yield.
Anyway, Flowering before the plants have shown their sex results in poor yield/longer flowering (apparently - certainly makes flowering longer). These seeds are feminized - i wanna force them to go so i can flower them now. Considering they will double-triple in size they're gonna overgrow my cupboard soon.
What are any tricks people have picked up on forcing the plant to show those white hairs? - these have been vegging probly 3 months ( 1.5 months under a VERY shit fluoresent - sunlight would prob be as good)
I was thinking maybe doing 1 hour on/one off but thats a bit of a hastle - maybe longer periods.. anyone tried that before?
Cheers all,

cut the light bck to force flowering.since their feminized you can flower or clone them at any age, depending on your space.how big is your cupboard?

They should be showing preflowers. They start showing preflowers about two months after sprouting. If you trick them before that, you'll get hermies. Since they are three months old, you can change the light cycle to 12 hours light and 12 hours total darkness. If they do not get total darkness you may get hermies or they may not flower, well. You can tie them down, bend them, top them, or supercrop them to control hieght, during the veg. stage, before you flower.

Only preflowers on one of them - thats what i mwant by the white hairs. i have topped all of them at around 5th/6th node, gonna start 12/12 now tbh i cba to wait for the others to show their pre flowers they must be getting there soon anyway..

If they are over two months old you may flower them. If they are three months old, they are there. Not all will have white hairs. Males will not have white hairs. If they are three months and have no white hairs, prob are males. Flower them. If the grow balls they're males.
I'm not kidding, they grow balls.

there are no short cuts other than tweaking the light time, but that is not advisable. at that 3 months there must be preflowers showing and if all you're seeing are nubs then most likely it's a male. males tend to show first and will be a bannana shape or spade...and your one hour on, one off won't do anything but screw em up and possibly hermi them. just follow the rules already written and all will be well...promise.

Do your friggin homework!!! If you ever found a light half as good as sunlight, that'd be the damn holy grail.

Lots of lights are better than sunlight. Not in energy use, of course, but in lumen output, which is what matters to the plants. If you keep a 1k, or even a 400 watt light, close enough, it's more light than sunlight could possibly provide. I think I read that sunlight provides about 5000 lumens per square foot. My 400 watt light with a decent bulb spits out 55,000 lumens, and I use it in a smaller space than 11 square feet, so you do the math: it's better than sunlight.

...I think it's actually 10k/sp. foot, but yeah...
The best thing about sunlight tho isn't it's light output- it's the balance of the light spectrum.

Sunlight is better in very sunny geographical regions, but many gloomy regions do better with artificial light.
