If it was so easy as you say millions of SF peoples would've done it. Why do you think that we are lames and just don't have balls to do it? And as far as the strain, go with a sativa like everyone else has said. If you look on some sites, they describe what the different strains do and so on. Good luck with your prob.

what about skunk #1? It's mostly sativa with good growth parameters but i never read any specific about it.
I've heard good things about skunk #1. The high is supposed to really be uppity and energetic with a very high yeild. I actually just ordered some skunk #1 seeds so I too hope to see what it's like very soon.

I don't know if you've heard of the band "Say Anything", but the singer sings in a few songs about using marijuana for social phobia:
"I self medicate with drugs and alcohol to treat my extreme social anxiety"
To name one. He even committed himself during his CD writing because he smoked too much reefer, LOL. Really different kind of music, he writes most of it - I recommend you check them out.
As far as your question, a mix of mostly sativa with a little bit of indica would probably set you straight. I would say around 75% Sativa and 25% Indica.
Definitely want more of a head high to keep you from sitting on the couch saying nothing :D -but you want a little body to keep you calm.
All you gotta do is go out there with the "fuck it" attitude, for instance, you talk to a girl and she totally blows you off, well if you go into it with the "fuck it" attitude you just think to yourself what ever happends who gives a flying fuck, sure i might take sometime to actually get this to mentaly work but it does work. But learn from your mistakes and find out what works and what doesnt with social situations. Srry for coming of as an ass-hole, but just check out my thread, Ive just added another post about what girls want. The rest of you should check it out too, its good and it works. O BTW alcohol definatly helps with the "fuck it" attitude cuz it lowers you inhibitions, makes you fell like the greatest thing since sliced bread, and makes you mentaly numb to any hurtfull rejection. And this might be just me but I never use weed to make me more socialable because I over think and iver analyse EVERYTHING that a person, does, says, or dosnt do, or say.

lol, speaking of ricky williams, he was signed today by some CFL team for a measly 250K a year. The argonauts I believe. I'm not sure on the drug policies, but failing 4 drug tests in the NFL doesn't look too good. I'm sure he'll continue to toke, which is all he seems to want. Good for him though, honestly.

I would suggest you get some medication from a doctor or a shrink.
You could try to self-medicate with weed, but as any medical professional, alcoholic or drug addict will tell you, it doesn't work very well...if it works at all.

The Doctor has backed my decision, but, he can't do anything about it. I was sent to him after a neurologist told me, "There's nothing else I can do for you."
By the way, I know my case is extremely rare, so you can make an exception and just look the other way. Why not? Everybody else does.
He, actually, suggested that I do research on the web and find people (or, organizations) that are willing to risk their licenses to support the cause.

What some of you need to understand first is that there is a clear cut difference between shyness and social anxiety/phobia. Something people should really be aware of in such an uprising problem.
Social phobics are not necessarily shy to initially aproach social situations, but rather more fear and apprehension of the being evaluated by the people they approach. Which is one of the main reasons socially phobic individuals are so hesitant to seek help.. which makes it such a problem.
For me, cannabis is not as much of a social drug than, say, shrooms or dxm. It tends to lead to even more introspection
It does help with social aniexty though, probably far better than anything the pharms are pushing! I'll go against the flow here and suggest an Indica dominant strain. (because indica's more "body" high would in theory, make you less concerned with people because it is focusing on your physical/mental comfort. sativa seems better suited to creative processes, where your mind is dissecting abstract ideas)

If there's something that can help with your situation, get you moving, you can at least get more experience and maybe, gradually, try dealing with your problem without medication.
It's always so hard to answer questions like this since it's such a subjective thing, everybody's different, etc...
But at the Toronto Compassion Centre, for instance, we've found generally that for anxiety related disorders, sativas can actually be quite problematic. Due to the 'stimulating' 'up-high' psychoactive effects of Sativas, they can often make such scenarios worse.
Sorry to contradict others trying to help out, but I feel compelled to suggest that you should be open to the options, do a little careful experimentation, and consider trying as pure as possible Indicas (Afghani #1 and Black Domina and Ultimate Indica are nice as far as I've experienced).
Of course, there are very few true Sativas out there, and it would be interesting to see how a pure Thai for example would treat you, compared to something like a Skunk #1, compared to the more Indica varieties mentioned above and other 'crosses.' If you get an opportunity to do a little comparative experimentation, it sure would be interesting if you shared your findings :)

Of course, it might be most helpful to start from your prior experience by considering how you feel cannabis can help, or has helped, you (and conversely how it could be problematic) - only you know if mentally stimulating highs have been a good or a bad thing for your situation and whether you're seeking (and experience) anti-anxiety effects or some sort of stimulating or confidence-boosting effects.
