Guide to Marijuana

If someone could sticky this.. it would be great. I've read too many posts where people are trying all sorts of methods to get high.. and they don't work.. and they waste bud and then come on here to ask why they didn't get high, and then they are laughed at.

Sooo...

1. The Drug

Marijuana is a plant. The main aspect of marijuana that makes people feel good is Delta-9 Tetrahydracannabinol. Also known as THC. THC is a part of a family of chemicals known as cannabinoids. All cannabinoids combine to get people "high". The most common form of use for marijuana is for the flowering tops to be smoked in a joint, blunt, pipe, bong, gravity bong, waterfall bong, bubbler, hookah, vaporizers, chillums, hotknives, shotguns, etc.

2. Methods

Now, there are other ways to get high other than just smoking the plant material. First, you have to understand that THC is alcohol and fat soluable. So, what does this mean? Well, it means that there are a few other methods that deal with cooking to prepare marijuana for consumption. A "Green Dragon" is where you take the marijuana stems and buds and mix them with alcohol. The higher proof of alcohol works better.. so everclear is the best. You take the plant material and soak it in alcohol. Sometimes people take the alcohol and bud and mix it in a pot over some light heat, stirring occasionally, then straining the marijuana out and saving the "green dragon" in another container. Some times people put the mixture in a bottle and put it in a black trash bag and set it on their roof in the sun for a few weeks so the heat from the sun does the job. I prefer the latter. Some people like to just take shots of Green Dragon, but the taste of everclear and bud is awful. Something that works rather well is dump out about half of a Dr. Pepper and fill the rest up with your Green Dragon, and then take that into the movie theater. Good times. :D

Also, THC is fat soluable. A popular method for preparing marijuana in this manner is "cannabutter". This is where you take a large amount of butter and put it in a pot over a stovetop, and allowing the butter to melt, you mix in finely ground marijuana and stir it for about 30 minutes, then strain it out and save the oil. You can do whatever you want with the oil. Brownies, stir fry, toast with some cannabutter, etc. are all excellent. Another method that works rather well is a "firecracker". All that you do is take some aluminum foil and place a cracker on it, then some peanut butter (lots of natural oils = lots of THC absorption!) then sprinkle some marijuana on it, then another cracker with peanut butter and sandwich them together. Fold the foil up and toss it in the oven. Bake in the oven at 220 degrees for 22mins. (unless you smell it starting to burn, then take it out.) Wait until its cooled enough for you to eat without burning your tongue, then wait an hour or so (give or take 20mins) for the effects to kick in. Usually 2 or 3 gets the job done quite nicely.

NOTE: These are the best ways to consume marijuana if you cannot smoke it. Snorting, shooting up, shoving it up your arse, huffing, eating it raw, etc. DO NOT WORK.

Oh yeah!

There are two types of marijuana:

Sativa and Indica. Neither is "better", it's just personal preference. Most marijuanas are a mixture of the two strains.

Generally, Cannabis Sativa gives you more of a "heady high". It's great for going out with friends to a movie or something. It's great for if you're going to a concert or when you're playing a musical instrument. Typical Sativa leaves are long and skinny. My personal favorite. The "best" Cannabis Sativa strains are
Durban Poison
Haze Marijuana
Mauwie Wauwie
Purple Haze Marijuana

Secondly, there is Cannabis Indica. Indica bud is usually the exact opposite of Cannabis Sativa... users report a strong body buzz sensation that is generally very pleasurable. Dancing and moving around, as well as sexual sensations and sleeping are generally very enjoyable activities when under the influence of Cannabis Indica. Indica Leaves are characterized by short, fat leaves. Popular strains of Cannabis Indica are:
White Widow Marijuana
Northern Lights Marijuana
Hawaiian Marijuana
Skunk Marijuana

Generally, eating and smoking marijuana give two different types of highs. When marijuana is smoked, generally people will be feeling the sensations in their head, bronchial tubes, and lungs. Breathing feels incredible. The broncial tubes are opened, allowing tar, mucus, and dust to be coughed out. When eaten, the THC goes into the bloodsteam and is carried all over the body, increasing tactile sensations. After smoking marijuana material, the onset usually occurs a minute or two after combustion. After ingestion, the onset can occur as much as an hour afterwords, depending on how much food is in the stomach and personal metabolic rates.

ive only eaten weed once and i didnt feel anything.

It might stop a few, but yeah - without this post FLASHING in front of their face with nipples and bright colors all over the place, there's no way the people who need to read it are going to. That is, unless they're the kind of person to actually go and search for information..

Heated plastic gives off molecules that are detrimental to your body.

Letting a trash bag sit on a roof is asking for a healthy dose of things you do not want to be consuming. I strongly advise against using plastic for anything involving heat. I can't imagine you don't notice a funk taste to it from the sun-baked plastic 'container', either. Granted, everclear doesn't tast great to begin with. But... I just can't imagine the tincture doesn't have essence of trash bag in it when you drink it. I'd be very wary of that method to the point of taking it from you and throwing it in the garbage, no offense. I just don't want you or anyone else having health problems down the road because of dioxyn consumption from heated plastic.

I've done it twice before, and I didn't notice any type of funny taste in the alcohol (other than the taste of the bud, naturally). The bag didn't melt at all, I used one of those heavy-duty trash bags. Worked fine for me both times.

While it may not melt, it will give off dioxyns at even a mere 91 degrees F, when exposed to direct sun (plastic is not safe especially in direct sunlight).

Dioxyns are a proponet for cancer, which is why your method disturbs me.

Mind the edits, I happen to be kind of drunk. I appologize.

Seeing as most of us already know this "guide to marijuana" I dont think it's really that important enough to be stickied :p.

The only thing I never read before is that all the unwanted particles in the lungs are coughed out when your high because of the expansion of the bronchi tubes, is this true? :p, where did you read this at? And if this is true why is there still tar shown on smokers lungs?

I would think, the best way to heat a mixture of alcohol and cannabis would be to keep it in the alcohol bottle (If it's glass) and let that heat in the sun... I know you can make a kind of tea that way, and I don't see why heating alcohol+cannabis would be any different.

I don't know if it would smell at all or not...

Glass has a habit of warping and eventually cracking apart after about five hours of glaring sun, as well. You have to keep an eye on things.

Just, please, don't use plastic for this anymore. It is one of the most overlooked sources of toxins in the world, in my opinion. Most otherwise brilliant people I socialize with weren't even aware of the dioxyn link with heated plastic. For some reason, studies like that just aren't seen as fit to be made gradeschool knowledge. I really do detest (to the point of seething rage) that so little information about the downsides of plastic are distributed. After conducting studies at Penntech campus is Lycoming, Pennsylvania I had proven that the threat of dioxyns, from mildly heated to melted plastics, is a very real and scray thing. I shudder to think of how many times I ate food from heated plastic containers.

Its one of those 'russian roulette' (only made so by the fact that information about how it is not fit to be manufactured is not widely known) factors for cancer that can be sloved by simply using glass for heated items rather than plastic. Knowledge is life.

actually, when he mentions the plastic bag he also mentions the bottle of alcohol inside it. one is the container, and the other just absorbs heat.

I guess this goes to show that we need to consider all the fellow smokers out there, even the one's who can't read... right?

Right, and in that case everyone take note: don't consume plastic. It's just a bad idea.

Yes, it's true. It's a common side-effect of THC that it expands your broncial tubes and is an expectorant. Cigarettes, on the other hand, constrict your broncial tubes.

Shit me... i ate a whole bag of weed on my way to work... about 2 hours later i was sent home.

it works... well...but i was physicaly fucked. good for quiet times with your mates, but not so good for convienence.
