My First Grow (pics)
Hey everyone. I was walking in my backyard the other day when i noticed something crazy. It was 4 or so inch plant growing right in the flower bed where i throw my bong water. I never planted any seeds there so it must have been from a seed in the gravity bong water. It was pretty out in the open so i tranplanted it to a discreet location out of view. Im not sure how old it is nor its gender. Im a newb at this and i cant belive how great its looking already! Its growing awfully fast and i cant have it getting much taller, i need some advice on keeping it short. I couldnt figure out where to make cuts, so i didnt mess with it. Can anyone identify its gender or is it too early? Also any other advice would be much appreciated. These are some pictures i took earlier today. It measured 9" tall. Please let me know how my babys doing. :rasta:

thurak: a bit off topic, though I wanted to comment on the following sentence of yours..
Quote: "ok i noticed when i clicked on teh pictures it was blurry as hell, so i cut the pics size."
Cutting back the size does not help the plant get any sharper.
If you want your herb to look good in a picture, you need to make sure the camera focuses on the plant itself rather than the background or it'll be out of focus and thus blurry. (Example, your first picture appears to have the focus on the plant behind it, your second picture appears to have the focus somewhere on the ground rather than the plant itself).
Usually, most digital cams have an LCD where you can see a square which indicates the focus point when the release button is half-pressed.
Make sure to have the focus point/square on the plant itself, not the background and you will make them look good.
If you are getting too close to the plant for taking a picture, the camera in its default setting, is likely unable to focus at that distance. You should have a "digital macro" setting on the camera, turn it on whenever you are close to the subject(anything below 20-30cm likely) Play a little with the distance and the focusing bracket on the camera... you'll get it and they pictures will tell a lot more afterwards :-)
Just thought I'd throw in my 0.02$
Cheers,
Carisma

They seem to be at a good stage to LCD. That does the same thing as topping, releasing the bush growth hormone, without inducing much stress. Hence the name LST (low stress training).
What you are going to want to do is see if you stem is strong. If it is then great. Take a piece of string and a couple of stakes or other things you can put in the ground outside to the plant. Take on stake and one piece string and tie the string off just below your first node. Take the string to a stake in the ground and tie it off. Take another piece of string and tie it off somewher between the fourth or fifth node and pull it down 180 degrees from the first tie off. When you are finished the plant should be lying horizontal from he first tie off. Now, if you feel you plant is about to snap just gradually take the stem down. This is basic LST gardening.
Another thing, you can force induce flowering outdoors by making the plants go into a 12/12 cycle. You are going to have to get a garbage bag or other large container and cover the plants for 12 hours and take the bag off for 12 hours. You are going to have to make sure that no light what so ever gets through your desired medium though for the force flowering to work.
Hope your unintentional grow goes well.
Happy Toking :rasta:

nice plant...
please keep us posted... the plant has the potential to get very very big... it is very early in the season and the plant has a lot of growth still...
a young immature plant has oposing nodes... as your plant gets older it will start to have alternating nodes.. a couple weeks later it will start to show its sex... this may take 4-6 weeks....
you can tie a string to the top of your plant and then a screw or a bolt to the other end of the string..... this should provide adequate weight to bend your lady over.....
ilove you
don't over water

Thanks for the replies everyone. Im going to try tieing it down later when it gets dark, i just dont want it to snap  . As far as the 12 hours of sun/darkness, i understand keeping ti dark for 12 hours but i dont think the daylight around here is long enough to keep 12 hours of light on it. Does it have to have 12 hours of sun or just 12 hours outside the pot? Also thanks for the picture advice carisma, ill try to work on that. Ill post some more pics mon or tues.

Hey everyone. I took some updated pictures yesterday. I havent tried tieng it yet, because i want to force it to start flowering. It needs 12 hours of complete darkness but does it need 12 hours of direct sunlight? It was 12" tall yesterday, and as you can see(i hope), the bugs have been having some fun with the leaves. I hope the pictures are clear this time. Any advice on forced flowering, bugs, etc. would be greatly appreciated. :rasta:

That looks like a pretty healthy plant for growing outside on its own against the world. Then again, these little girls used to grow on the side of every rural highway :D
Take care of her and she'll take care of you.

You guys wont belive this shit, I found another plant in a pot in my front yard. Its pretty big, not as large as my first but still big. It was in a pot that i had poured some bong water on :stoned: . It didnt look to good and the other plants in the pot were killing it, so i transplated it. It seems to be doing better now. Ill post some pics of it and some new ones of my other sometime tomor. Its crazy how i couldnt ever get them to grow outside when i planted the seeds, but they grow all by themselves:eek: .

My First Grow (pics)
I decided to start forcing flowering today, since i dont want to wait until sept for it to do it on its own. I rigged up a tall dark cabinet where no light gets thru. I got a large pot and dug the plant up with lots of dirt covering the roots so no light hit them. I put it in the cabinet at like 7:30 pm and ill take it out around 9 am and put it back outside for 8-12 hours. Ill take pictures of it inside the cabinet tomorrow morning after the dark cycle. Ill post them on here for feedback. I also need to tie it down, but if it grows sideways when i tie it down, then that wont work bc of the cabinet width. My best bet is probably to cut it but ill wait til i post pics so you guys can tell me exactly where on the plant to cut :D . I hope it doesnt die :( . Btw the other plant i found has been destroyed by bugs, ill post a pic tomorrow of what it looks like now. Later :smokin:

I hope the transplant works out for you... it can often be very stresful for an outdoor plant (in the ground) to get uprooted and put into a pot..
keep us posted
cheers : )
