i have to say im more of a neil young fan,but skynard is cool too.how about you guys?
lynard skynard
be a simmmmmppllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee kind of man
skynyrd all the way
Skynard, dude. I love Neil Young, but he was never anywhere close to Skynard in my eyes.
Leh-nerd?
I'm a serious neil fan.. someone who can harness all the talents in one..
And he is still producing music.... good music! at that..
Going to see him along with CrosbyStills&Nash
Neil Young.
neil young far and away. more creativity in his little finger than in skynyrd's whole band.
skynyrd.
Both hold certain memories, but Lynard was the man...
I can't stand either. Lynard Skynard, Neil Young, The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead, Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan should have been involved in a murder-suicide pact years ago. Music would have been WAAAAAAYYYYY better off for it. Fucking jackoffs.
Probably a big American Idol fan. Some people have no taste.Quote:

Incidentally, I don't think Skynyrd cared much for Neil Young
" Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her.
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down.
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
a southern man don't need him around anyhow."
lynard skynard hands down
i believe that was the point....they are so different, so your preference says something about you, like cats or dogd, or chocolate or vanilla and, yes, apples or oranges....Quote:

His Buffalo Springfield stuff kicks ass. If you like psychedelic ballads you got to get their 1967 album and listen to ??Expecting to Fly?, one of the greatest songs ever written.
By the way the guys in Skynyrd were Neil Young fans, they just had a friendly rivalry going on. They were often seen with Neil Young T-Shirts on in concert. The song ??Alabama? (quoted above) was written in response to Young??s hit Southern Man.
Huh, I knew that part of Sweet Home Alabama was in response to Southern Man but always assumed they hated each other.Quote:

Even more useless Skynryd trivia: The name Lynryd Skynryd came from their high school gym teacher- Leonard Skinner. Apparently they hated the guy and did it as a joke.
neil young. but skynryd has some songs that stay with ya though
"It is a popular belief that the country rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote their song "Sweet Home Alabama" as an attack on Neil Young for the opinions expressed in "Southern Man". In actuality, Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote their song as a response, showing the good things about the South. Young was even friends with the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, saying that he is a fan of both "Sweet Home Alabama" and Ronnie Van Zant, the lead vocalist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Young has been known to play "Sweet Home Alabama" in concert occasionally. To demonstrate this camaraderie, or perhaps as a mocking gesture, Van Zant frequently wore a Neil Young Tonight's the Night t-shirt while performing "Sweet Home Alabama"."Quote:

Neil Young also wrote a song called "Alabama" at about the same time.
Oh Alabama
The devil fools
with the best laid plan.
Swing low Alabama
You got spare change
You got to feel strange
And now the moment
is all that it meant.
Alabama, you got
the weight on your shoulders
That's breaking your back.
Your Cadillac
has got a wheel in the ditch
And a wheel on the track
Oh Alabama
Banjos playing
through the broken glass
Windows down in Alabama.
See the old folks
tied in white ropes
Hear the banjo.
Don't it take you down home?
Alabama, you got
the weight on your shoulders
That's breaking your back.
Your Cadillac
has got a wheel in the ditch
And a wheel on the track
Oh Alabama.
Can I see you
and shake your hand.
Make friends down in Alabama.
I'm from a new land
I come to you
and see all this ruin
What are you doing Alabama?
You got the rest of the union
to help you along
What's going wrong?
American Idol, Lynyrd Skynrd and Neil Young are all the same to me: garbage.Quote:

Here are some people/bands that actually contributed to music:
Hank Williams *Senior*
Marty Robbins, especially his work on "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs"
Patsy Cline
Buddy Holly
Chuck Berry (got to see him play once. OMG!)
The Velvet Underground
Johann Sebastian Bach
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Marvin Gaye
Sam Cooke
Bob Marley
Peter Tosh
Jimi Hendrix
I could keep going, but I don't have to.
BTW, Eric Clapton and the Beatles suck, too.
:D
I'm just wondering why you say Eric Clapton sucks? I can understand someone saying the Beatles and Skynyrd sucking (although I don't agree), but Clapton?Quote:

Didn??t see that right away, sorry, I thought your post was serious.
skynard.
"Cocaine eyes, can't hide your face, it's no suprise, you lose the race... again."
I'm def more of a YOung fan but Freebird kicks ass.
I'm a Skynyrd fan...
Neil Young is more vocal than Skynyrd. Plus, I don't care for Southern Rock. I've loved Neil Young for a long time, and have never, even, liked Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I sang "Hey Joe" and the guy who recorded it said I sounded exactly like Neil Young.
i like neil young , but the guitar solo on free bird means skynard wins by a mile
neil young but i am a big fan of both.
gotta love comin home:rasta:
