New grower, ? about spots on leaves.

This is my first real attempt at growing, besides one really cheap time I tried with MG and it turned out terrible. I have invested a bit more into this try and I have 8 little seedlings going that are 15 days old. Everything was fine until yesterday when I noticed yellow spots on one and also the cotyledons on a few have shirveled up. I am using FoxFarm Ocean Forrest soil and 5 of the 8 seedlings are WW from Nirvana and the other 3 are bag seeds from some dank weed i had. I water only when they are good and dry with purrified water and Superthrive. I was wondering if anyone knew what might be causeing those spots. I thought mabey it was from a lack of nutes so I began the feeding schedule yesterday and they all seem to be a bit wilted and it had no effect on the spots. I am using the Fox Farm trio for ferts. The temp in my grow cabinet is usually somewhere inbetween 75-85 and i am using 5 cool 25 watt cfls that are on 24 hours. Any input on what my be causing the spots and or what I should be doing differently would be greatly appreciated.

do you have any drainage? each cup should have holes...at least 5 spread out...look at nursery pot.

They look good to me...Craving more light? maybe not.

Maybe raise the lamps a little. might be a little warm...

box looks good, but where is your fan...from 1st look it appears that you might be melting them a bit, maybe.

I hate to say it...But, Why is it, every time someone (I'm tryin' to play nice) get's some plants started and they have some problem's develop...they decide...Oh, I better give them some nutes...

Dude, You got Ocean Forest soil in those cups...and you gave them nutes...

1st NO nutes for seedlings.
2nd NO nutes for seedlings
3rd No nutes for seedlings, especially if plants are being started in Ocean Forest...(A great choice, I must say).

Just kidding around...not really, though

what kind of lights are you using?

It sounds like you have the right ideas...Just be patient, and up those lights a bit, and get a small fan blowing.

Looks like they have holes at the bottom. Not at the very bottom but very near the end..and yeah, I would heighten those lights a bit :p, I'm surprised they arent burnt xD...isnt that 125 watts altogether? Latewood you dont think that much wattage would burn the leaves do you? I'm not making a jester either, I'm actually asking xD.

I have to install a few small pc fans on the inside to blow on the plants but there is a fan mounted in the back bottom blowing air in and a fan at the top blowing air out.

They also have 5 holes each on the bottom and 4 around the side to help them dry out.

Everything I have read about cfls has said they need to be 1-2 inches away to be most effective and that the more you have the merrier. None are showing any signs of burning so I did not think they were to close. I will try raising them a bit and see if it helps.

I read that nutes should be started after 2 weeks or so, which is why I thought mabey it was lack of nutes. As soon as they dry out a bit more im going to give them a flush.

Oh I forgot to say I am using 5 25w cool cfls to veg in the cabinet and I have another room ready in my closet with a 400w hps for when the time comes :)

Definately a case of over loving your plants.
Too much food and too much water.
Cut the nutes to 1/4 recomended dose. And only water when the soil starts drying out on the top.

The first grow I tried I loved my plants to death for sure so I have been as careful as I can not to do the same this time :P I have waited until the soil was dry and watered until I saw water coming out the bottom. The only nutes they have been givin is one feeding of grow big and superthrive since they sprouted. I feel like I should flush them but at the same time I dont want to over water them since the soil is still a bit damp. Should I wait or flush now?

people are always preaching that you can get cfl's as close as an inch...2 things 1st if they are 1" away...you better be dedicated. 2nd cfl's are great for starting out a grow and it looks like you got it together with your 400w hps.

as far as cfl's not hot enought o burn your plants...grab hold of that lamp and hold on...If you can...GET it?

leaves will droop/melt quite a bit before they look burnt.

I'm with LW with this...

When he says "dedicated", he means that you're going to have to check them plants various times per day to make sure they're not burning.

When they're that small, a bulb burn can be very bad.

When they're bigger, just like Garden Knowm says... a little bit of burning here and there won't hurt much.
But that's when they're bigger.

Right now... they're too small. Make sure you don't burn them...

back lights off to 4inches.take another cup same size and soil mix as the one ur growin,weigh its dry weight,wen cup ur growin in weighs that amont water.wen plants get bigger u mght find urself watering a ounce sooner then the dry wet,on a scale.no ferts at this stage.i dont know how much water ur given,but mine at that stage under those type lights,average 1-1and 1/2 ounces,i use tap water 7.4 andprefert. soil.

Ya, It probably just needs a flush. Wait till it drys and flush it.

NICE lightiing rig.. definitley do not raise it..

transplant now to 1-3 gallon pots... use a TOP notch oragnic soil..
allow them to grow for 5-7 more days and FLOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and don't feed them.....

Ok I flushed them today after making sure they were dry. They all seem droopy still and the spots on the one plant are slightly worse.

I also switched back to 18 hours of light to see if they respond to the break in light better.
