How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
:stoned:  I am a first time grower and have been trying to learn as I go. I have read a lot on the internet, but am still confused. I think my plants are flowering. They have little buds on them. Are they flowering? If so, about how long do you think it will be before I can harvest?
I started another thread about the one plant wilting, so I'm working on getting that gal back in shape.
If I could just get some feedback on how they look, I would truly appreciate it, thanks.

how old are they?..................what photoperiod are you on?
lights-on/off?
they look good, but you need to repot, otherwise you will get rootbound, and frankly, you have decent light for a small yield, but I would get as many of those cfl.s as often as possible to provide more light. (assuming you can't afford/use an HID.)
good job so far, perfect time to get some guidance and finish a succesful grow. lw

poohcat21, you're plants look amazing. I'd like to know if their light cycle and their age as well, but judging from where they are right now, I'd say they'll be ready for harvest in 2 1/2 months. BTW, what strain are you growing, it looks almost pure sativa. Good luck with the rest of your grow!
Peace,

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
My gals are approx 2 1/2 to 3 months old. I have no idea what strain they are. My husband got them from a friend who got them from his stash. I'm at 12/12 now. That is what I was taught to do now.
I thought a 3 gallon pot was sufficient. If I get a larger pot, won't they just hrow bigger? I don't have the room for huge plants.
My husband and I were desperate to get high, so we smoked the leaves of the plants that didn't make it and I got pretty buzzed, so I hope the real stuff fucks me up good.
Thanks for all the help and encouragement.

lol great stuff. They shouldn't get over 80cm but you need a bigger pot because more room=more roots. More root=big buds!
Enjoy!

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
1.You let them get to big.. for a fluorescent grow
2.they are 5-8 weeks away from harvest..
3.add more lights to the sides if you can....... NOW!!......... this will allow your lower branches to get the light they need to produce BUDS!!
4. there could be a couple males in the group.. keep a very close eye on the nodes.. for male FLOWERS
and finally....
YOUR PLANTS look GREAT... congrats!!
love is NOW... if you don't feel love.. you are in your head... are only real state is LOVE

I was also gunner say that you let them get way to tall...
-
How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
Next time I won't let them get too tall.
Today we went and bought some "Reflectix Insulation" to put around them. My husband read on here somewhere that it's better than tin foil, more expensive too !
We also got another light to put in.
The wilted one I call Wilty is still very droopy. I'm hoping she can overcome whatever I did to her. Her main stem is bending, it doesn't look good. Is there anything I can do to help her?

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
Garden Knowm, I just re-read your post and I am confused. I thought they were female plants that have female flowers. Are you saying my plants could have male flowers? How can I tell the difference? I am clueless...
-
How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
hi poo.
can you post a couple more pics of your wilted plant?
if the plant does not have female hair (white hairs) then you should pay very very close attention to the joint/intersection area where branches are coming out of the main stalk, this is where male flowers will first show themselves.
they look like tiny little rose buds. it is a bit confusing, it is the male plant that actually produces flowers. it is these flowers that have pollen in them.
you will be able to recognize them very eaisly as long as you pay close attention.

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
:D  My husband took these pics, they are better than the last ones. You can see how wilted the poor gal is. Her sisters are fine, very healthy, but she is drooping, her main stem is starting to bend over. I have been super careful not to overwater. I watered all three plants with roughly the same amount of water. The temp in there doesn't go above 72 and there is a fan in there. The only thing I could see being different is I think I gave her too much fert. So I thought I'd flush it with some straight water, but have seen no improvement.
I wanted to know what your opinion was about the size of the pots, should I move them into something bigger than a 3 gallon container? I really don't have the room. Will putting them in a bigger pot make that much of a difference? And wouldn't it make them grow taller in a larger pot? I trust your opinion. Thanks. :stoned:

Are the tips of drooping plant burnt or yellow/brown at all.
at 1st glance it looks like a nutrient overdose...maybe not
now that you have flushed wait 2-3-4 days...let medium dry up considerably...then you should see some improvement, Imho.
3 gallon bucket is all you need for soil*...minimum 5gallon bucket for hydro.
* there are 3 steps of potting to get to flower...
1. whatever you start them in.
2. a 1 gallon pot for veg, then transplant into
3. ...3 gallon pot for flowering.
what do you think GK?
they all look good, except the one.
/what are you mixing with water for nutrients?/

What I did was mix up 2 --1 gallon containers with 1 tsp of miracle grow plant food, I don't have the bottle here, so I don't know the ratio of nutrients off hand, but I followed some directions from another website. I then mixed up two-half gallons . One with 1/2 tsp and the other I accidentally put in 1 tsp instead of 1/2 tsp. I watered Wilty with the two half gallons. Now the soil I'm using is that Miracle grow organic soil. It has manure in it, but no chemical fert.
I flushed her with almost 1 gallon of fresh water but was afraid to water anymore. Do you think that is enough? Should I flush with more?
You know, it's hard to find soil with no fert in it. I originally grew the seedlings in some soil I found that had no fert in it, then transplanted them into this soil. My husband thinks that we should stop fertilizing and just water with plain water, what do you think I should do? Thanks again

Oh and I forgot to say, the leaves are all green, there is no brown or yellow coloring (burnt looking) on them at all. They are just curling up and drooping. I keep checking the other two bigger ones and they are great. My husband put some lights around the sides and on top with the insulation on the sides. He wanted to know if it's better to have the light bulbs open or to have the reflactive shade thing on them. Let me know please. Thanks

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
Hey Garden Knowm, my husband checked on the plants last night before he went to bed and there were hundreds of gnats. He read up on them (he's a better researcher than me) He thinks they are fungal gnats. We got rid of them non organically.
Why do you think we had an outbreak all of the sudden? They weren't there a few hours before. We did have some standing water, and the soil is that organic stuff. What can I do to avoid this ? a few drops of bleach in the water? My poor husband was freaking out,LOL, I'm glad I was in bed and didn't see them.
I hope you can answer my last few posts, I really value your opinion. Thanks. :stoned:

Ok...1st, Most of us hate miracle gro...not formulated for MMJ, but it is possible to grow with it, I just feel that you must already know what you are doing to survive...with Miracle gro....Imho
I think that is your 1st problem...
2nd...anytime you use a soil with nutrients already in the soil...you are asking for problems, but If you do use it...Then NO NUTES, UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF FLOWER.
From what I understand, nutrients will dissipate over a couple of months in soil like that. So, hubby is probably right. I would not water until they were practically dry each time and only with water, until they show you the need for nutrition...Buy some real nutes...gh 3-part (chem nute), or pure blend pro (organic nutes). there are numerous nutrient co's. these are 2 of the most popular.
that makes it easier to get info from mentors...Imho.
3rd...If you want sterile soil with no nutes...I get mine at truevalue or the dollar store...hyponex is one brand...about 2 dollars a bag, basically the cheapest soil you can buy...you also need perlite and peat moss...
I use 50% soil...30-40% perlite, and 10-20% peat moss.
add a screen and a layer of rock on the bottom of pot (for drainage and stabilization...and fill with your soil mix.
post II I would just watch that plant closely...the general rule of flushiong/leaching...Is too rid your soil of salt build-up/toxidity...the common fromula is to flush pot with 3-4x's the capacity of pot...i.e., If you are growing in 3 gallon pots then you need to flush with 6-9 gallons of water...
some old growers just take and put their plant in the shower, and rain on it for 20-30 minutes..(tepid water temp) too cold will shock...too hot will melt...Gotit?
post III..As far as the Gnats go...If you want I can just let you wait for GK

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
Latewood, if you read this first I would like your opinion about the gnats.
We couldn't save old Wilty, she was too far gone. We would rather concentrate on the two we have left.
I originally had the seedlings in soil with no nutes. I got it at Kmart for $1 a bag. but then I thought it would be ok to use organic soil.
If I don't hear from anyone about the gnats soon I think I'll start another thread. Thanks

How do my plants look? Are they flowering?
I use gnatrol...available at hydro stores or online...
look up bghydrodotcom...they have a great selection for pest control. gnatrol is in my opinion about the best way to deal with them...also put a pail of water with a little soap in it. a pail iwth some beer in it...and last but not least...get a no pest strip. goodluck, these all work to an extent. You have to keep treating as per direction for maintenance in order to kill the eggs and hatchlings.
check out PCO fogger for your other pest control needs...and neem oil spray ro a citrus spray for spider mites...If that problems arrise...
the PCO fogger kills roaches Too...I swear to God!
hope this helps
