This goes against all my ethics...

The other day I was helping my girl with her coursework. She had written the stuff in draft, and I was typing it up on the PC. It was about lung cancer, and what causes it. Lo and behold, on the list was marijuana. It said something like this:

'Marijuana is even more cancerous than tobacco, due to the fact that it deposits more tar in the lungs.'

What a load of bollocks. Cannabis has actually been found to produce cells in the emotional part of the brain, and negate the effects of cancer in the brain. Also, it can deposit more tar - but if vaporised, you only absorb the THC so it keeps tar to a minimum. Oh, did I mention that cigarettes have nearly 4,000 chemicals in them whilst Herb only has 400?
Thats more or less what I wrote in place of the fake, governmental bollocks. Now my girl is mad as hell at me - but Ive already told her that Im an activist, and in no way I am going to spread the governments lies and bullshit anymore.

So what should I do - should I swallow my pride and apologise, or should I have been ready to give up everything I have for this cause?

i'm sure she proof-reads anyway (or will from now on, lol) so what's the harm with injecting a little truth, even if only for the short term?

My point exactly. Although people on here are always going on about spreading the truth, but when we do we get persecuted.

put what you just said on the paper, its true, so if she has a problem with it, she can fix it.

Well Ive kinda already written it down, printed it off and shes handed it in. She shouldve read it before she handed it in anyway. Like I said, I refuse to spread government propaganda.

but nobody smokes a "pack" a day of cannabis.

Shit, but I also heard that cancer needs a basic environment to grow and when u smoke weed it changes it to an acidic environment which completely inhibits certain kinds of cancer.

Actually when your body's PH level is more acidic, that is when you get more sick cause bacteria, viruses, and cancer can only grow in an acidic invirnment, and what you want is your body's PH level to be more alkaline. Thats why people who eat alot of healthy food never get sick or get cancer because all the healthy food they eat like fruits and vegies are all Alkaline in terms of PH levels, and thus their body's are more alkaline. Herb also helps your body turn alkaline, and it has chemicals that seek out and kill cancerous cells. So yeah, herb is good for you, that is why god created it:thumbsup:

I have just read a book called need to know cannabis by Sean Connolly and in this book it says that smoking cannabis cigerettes is far more harmful than smoking tobacco because cannabis contains many more chemicals that damage the lungs.

Cancer is a very dangerous thing, and there have been arguments back and forth about what is worse. Keep in mind, while tar has shown to be one of many contributing factors in lung cancer, what has shown to be more prevalent in causing any type of cancer is radioactivity. Tobacco industries use polonium-210, which is a radioactive substance, to grow tobacco plants. While the FDA says that polonium-210 was shown to have no negative side affects while ingesting plants grown using the radioactive substance, it is still inconclusive if smoking such plant can cause lung cancer. Also, keep in mind cannabis users don't smoke leaves, but the bud, which contains 33% less tar, and cannabis does not narrow the air passages in the lungs like tobacco.

I know for a fact that cannabis useage, as long as it is kept to only smoking on weekends has very VERY few adverse affects. Your lungs can clean themselves and have gone through millions of years of evolution to do so, don't you think that people have been inhaling all kinds of crap over the last 30 million years or so (I have no idea how long we've all been around so correct me if you know) but my point is that our bodys can handle a little punishment.

But don't worry, everything that you do is bad for you, if you want to live long then go out in the country somewhere where there is like 2 people per sq. mile. Theres clean air there, then grow your own food, eat a healthy balanced diet and relax the fuck out. I wish I could do that for a few decades.


AAAAAAAAAAAAANYWAYS.........I would also like to remind everyone that there are several things killing each and every one of us as I type and as you read this! Car exaust when inhaled is very carcinogenic because of or little friend mr. benzene, whos also found in preservatives as benzoates, and when combined with Vit. C (ascorbic acid) produces benzene.

Theres ganjasaurusrex's whole thing on hormones and antibiotics in milk, as well as BGH and some other crazy shit thats all in your breakfast cereal.

I bet there is a SLEW of shit from cell phones and all the crazy radiation they put off.

So on the whole I REALLY don't think cannabis is all that big of a deal. Constant use, like with myself for an example, leads to an unhealthy lifesyle, allbeit and extremely fun one. I hope to god that this friday im gonna get some PUSSY, I want a girl to bang the shit out of and who wants to do it ALOT. oops, thats neither here nor there.............well whatever.

Regardless of what you want to believe there is no such thing as harmless smoke!
Just because I know of the positive effects of cannabis I cannot and will not ignore the truth, the truth is that inhaling any smoke (vaporized or not) will have harmfull side effects.
I tire of the pro group who insist that the mighty herb has no down side as much as I tire of the anti lobby trying to convince everyone it's more dangerous than nitro glycerine in a food blender.

Obviously the answer to your question is no.

I just think it's obvious that facts exist within a certain context. For example, if I say: "Washington is the president of the US", it's false, although it was true at a time.
This is the equivalent of being asked to turn in a diet plan for a nutrition class, and insteading turning in an essay on how chocolate makes you feel good. Let's shatter all illusions right here and now if we must: Breathing chemicals, smoke and ash of any sort into your lungs is not going to contribute to healthy lungs in the future. Maybe the benefits to my brain outweigh the adverse affects on my lungs, but honestly, I don't smoke for my health. At least, not my physical health.

It's not that I don't find his passion for the movement to be inspiring, I just think its horribly misguided.

What you *should* have done is do for her whatever you agreed to do, namely type her paper for her. You could have stopped at that section, or waited til afterwards, to discuss its validity with her. Wouldn't it be better to convince someone of your views than to just tell others she believes it? At the very least you probably could have gotten her to add in "if consumed in the same fashion as a cigarette", because even you said "it can deposit more tar". Well, at least she won't be asking you to "help" with her course work in the future :p .

Its good you want to stand up for cannabis but you shouldnt have fucked with her paper. You should have atleast said something to her.
