Pink Floyd Trivia Question
Two things just happened to come together this weekend and I thought "holy shit, that's were that came from"
Back in 1970, Pink Floyd did a soundtrack to a film called Zabriskie Point. One of the songs on that soundtrack is called "Come in number 51, your time is up" A weird name for a weird song.
Question is, where did they get that name??
Pink Floyd Trivia Question
Just off the top of my head I can only think of 2 answers.
About Car 51 in the television show.
and Area 51 out in New Mexico.
Just guesses
Pink Floyd Trivia Question
Hint- It came from another band, immensely poular, who was coming to an end just as Floyd was getting started.

So I go to Allfloyd.com to try to cheat and read the lyrics. Alas, the song is an instrumental! So I have no idea. I think it has something to do with number 51's time being up.

I love the scream on "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" because whenever you show someone that song for the first time, you can have to volume pumped way up and it scares the shit out of them.

Huh, interesting, I thought it sounded a lot like Careful with that Axe.
I've got this weird version of Careful with that Axe, recorded in 1968 at a concert in Amsterdam. Lot of strange rambling lyrics and the scream is more of a groan. Kinda like Eugene wasn't too careful.

Pink Floyd Trivia Question
It is unhealthy how long I have been trying to draw the correlation between the song name and some 60s rock group. I hope you have the correct answer and not just some stoner connection! (Dude, Jerry like died at age 51, so the song is about his death!) I'm just messing with ya.
Pink Floyd Trivia Question
Fengzi...I think ya stumped us. I can't find shit on this.......
Pullin' hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pink Floyd Trivia Question
Ok, in the first Beatles movie, A Hard Days Night, there is this kind of melancholy scene where Ringo is walking along a river. There are some boats in the river and for no apparent reason he turns to them and shouts "come in number 51, your time is up"
I had gotten really high last Saturday and was watching that movie. When he said that I knew I had heard that somewhere else before. I hadn't listend to it for at least a year but, by pure coincidence, on Sunday morning I pulled out the Pink Floyd Relics cd. I looked at the songs and the very last one was "Come in number 51, your time is up" Instantly the light bulb went off over my head.
