Keeping a spider on my plant, good or bad???
There is a small spider that has made a nice home out of my outdoor plant. It doesn't bother me considering he has been eating a bunch of small flies/gnats that he caught in his web, but I was wondering if it is more harmful or beneficial to let him stay there. Especially once it starts flowering...
Anyone have any opinions on this one?
Thanks in advance!

I move spiders into my greenhouse. Just love the little buggers. It so so much fun to watch them get fat and happy on evil plant suckers!

When it comes time to harvest, what is the best method for removing the web? He has built a small, but very dense web near the cola and I don't want to damage any of the trichomes.

Spiders don't eat your greens.. they munch on other little critters and many of those are critters that do munch on greens.. So catch em and put em all around your grow. Of course lady bugs eat meat also and spiders eat them so it becomes a which get the job done.. Not having all the little critters munching meat it why little critters that are Vegans can get so out of control indoors.. Ain't nothin like a good cut of meat..

Yea. I have a spider livening in my grow room. He and I came to a draw. He kills bugs and I don't kill him.

i would remove the web when you are flushing, and do it all by hand, you will knock some trichs, but not too many. and i know it sounds gross, but if there was any tiny bits on a bud, the fire would clean that..
spiders, lady bugs, and worms

Thanks for all of the replies. HighTillIDie understood what I was getting at. It is almost time for harvesting and I want to get rid of the web when I do without damaging (or minimizing the damage) to the trichomes on the cola.
Sorry, but I don't know what "flushing" is. Can you explain that to me?

Flushing is running lots of clean water through your grow medium

Like Dr.Bloor said, you run lots of water through your medium. I think you're supposed to start doing it about 2 weeks prior to harvest. This gets rid of all the salt build-up, and possible chemicals. Your herb will taste much better this way...

Uh oh! My plant is almost ready to harverst. I guess a few days of this will have to do.
Does it have to be purified water? Can I just use tap water? Doesn't flushing knock off a lot of the trichomes?

you can flush with tapwater ... it won't knock trichomes off, because you shouldn't be wetting the plant, just the soil ... :smokin:

LOL...oh! I'm obviously unfamiliar with flushing so if you wouldn't mind indulging me, I would appreciate it! How exactly do I do it? Just basically water the plant with clean water, no ferts or bloom agents? Do I water more than usual? My little one is in a pot and not in the ground...if that means anything.

Flushing your plant just means running clean water through the soil, usually for two weeks before harvest, in order to rid the excess elements that create undesireable flavors in the bud. Plant should be comlpetely out of Nitrogen at harvest, showing yellow and dead leaves. The lack of color is the lack of clorophyl is the lack of kaka taste!
Does that help? Good luck:thumbsup:
Flushing is also helpful if you run into nute burns. About 3 times the water, as soil in the pot....
My thoughts on the type of water used differ from most. Most people say tap is fine. I say, probably, but I'm going to use dead, demineralized water.

You flush the water into your growing medium. Check your ph. Water will not wash THC off of your plants. Water is not a solvent for THC.

Some like to run a little molasses through to the end. Sweeten it up. I would say again just run lots of pure water through to wash all the nutes you have been adding. It may be interesting at this time to check your ph. See what you have been doing right or wrong. Keep flushing.
