What do your parents do to annoy you?

We all have it, those little (or big) things our parents do that just annoy the hell out of us, or embarass us, or downright anger us. Feel free to vent here whatever it is your parents do that you hate. Even if it's not a big thing, or something that shouldn't bother you but it does. We'll compare.

- one thing that bugs me, my mom does this really annoying thing when we're watching television. The only shows my brother and I watch now are new episodes of House, Prison Break, Simpsons, Family guy, American dad, and King of The Hill. So basically Sunday and Monday we catch the new stuff. And every time we're catching one of the new episodes, we're right in the middle of some important plot developement and she'll come into the room and basically:

"oh.. hey guys..... um..... Just letting you know...... that.... I want your brother in bed around... oh.... 10:00 tonight. So... yeah, you know.... around ten.... make sure you brush your teeth..... be quiet when you come up the stairs.... and.... um... yeah..... so, uh.... make sure you do that.... and uh.... ten O'clock anyway...... you dad set up the coffee pot...... so... ya know, don't worry about setting up the coffee pot......"

argh! she'll just go on like that for 5 minutes, right in the middle of the show, just dragging everything out as slowly as she can possibly go, and saying absolutely nothing. and of course if we say anything like "mom, we really dont' want to miss this" she storms out all mad, so most of the time we don't say anything and just try to listen to the show as she goes on and on about absolutely nothing.

And my dad... well he just seems a little cooky. He doesn't seem to be racist, tons of his favorite musicians, sports stars, writers, etc. are all sorts of races, he's had tons of friends of every race, he grew up with native kids, but he makes a point of using only deragetory racial terms. Everybody who's not white he calls a nigger, sand nigger, towel head, gook, chink, and every other offensive name for every race. And he won't censor himself at all when I have friends over. luckily I've known them all for 10 years now and they know him and don't care anymore, but anybody new comes over and he's just casually talking about "some nigger" or whatever. it's so bloody embarrasing.

my parents compare me to my other friends...

My parents kicked me out of the house and made me get my own place and job.

My dad does shit like that all the time. Methinks it's because he wants to feel like he's still a big part of our lives. I mean I suppose he is being my father but my brother and I are starting to transform into adults just as Optimus tranforms into a big ass firetruck, and he don't like that.

barbara (my moms life partner) has a bad habit of asking totally inconsequential and meaningless questions. for example, ill come home from a friends house and she will typically ask the usual questions like:
how was your day? what did you do?
but then she will go on to ask totally irrelevant questions like:
what was your friend wearing? did you drive? did you hang out in her room? what music did u listen to?did you wlk her dog together?

its really annoying because for some reason little questions like this are very important to her and if i bring up how silly the questions are, she will get angry and start to suspect that i am doing something wrong or trying to hide something. i just dont have the time or tolerance for her inquiries

my mom wakes me up and asks totaly irrelevant questions like "do these curtains go with the rest of the room?" I mean stuff she could wait for me to wake up on my own.

this shouldnt bother me but it just does... whenever im watchin a new episode of a show at like 9 or 10 my dad will come downstairs and stand by our trash can in our kitchen and act like hes eating while like intensly observing what im watching (our kitchen and tv room are connected). and if i ask him to let me watch it alone he goes "NO ITS MY HOUSE ILL DO WHAT I WANT" and like spazzles

MY mom.. sometimes she forgets to pick me up because she is watching soap operas. And she thinks there is nothing wrong with that. And I don't really get mad in general.. cause I'm pretty mellow all the time, but she will somehow try and blame it on me that I didn't inform her or get a ride from someone else. SHE IS A FREAKING HOUSE WIFE. Despite was Dr. Phil says, she does jack shit all day. And then yells at me. Makes me upset.

Repeating shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Fuck. I can't stand that shit.

I remember talking like that to my boss when i was really baked one time.


Now I dont live with my parents anymore due to the fact that I am a little too old to do so but when I did they would do a lot of stuff that would really annoy me. For instance, my mom would come in my room somewhere around 10 at night and decide to sleep in my bed. That pissed me off for many reasons, one being I couldn't toke up in my favorite place and secondly, ITS MY FREAKIN BEDROOM! SHE HAS HER OWN! :mad: My stepdad is another story. He would always bitch and complain about how bad the house looks and then do absolutely jack about it and when he did (which was about once or twice a year) he would talk to me about how I should do a better job of keeping the place clean and stuff. That just really pissed me off because I had the cleanest room in the whole house and his computer room was littered with dishes and trash that I could probably date back to the begining of any given year. Just thinking about stuff like that still gets me mad.

I know what you mean, it makes me SO uncomfortable when I'm watching t.v. and my mom or dad will walk into the room and just stand there watching what I'm watching. it's pretty common too with kids from their teens up.

Also my dad has such definite political opinions about every party, and nobody dares express a different political opinion or else he'll go into such a loud and intense 30 minutes rant about why your wrong. So as far as he is concerned, everybody in the house has the exact same political values as he does. He votes conservative and thinks they're a wonderfull perfect party, and thinks I'm a conservative voter too. little does he know I'm secretly commiting blasphemy (in my house) by voting NDP (the far left side of the spectrum). Unfortunately he's done a great job of brainwashing my sister into steadfastly agreeing with all his opinions too, so I don't tell her either.

and frankly I wish he'd learn to let people have opinions considering one of my best friends votes NDP and I used to be totally against them (when I was a conservative voter), but I still respected his right to support them. my other close friend thinks the Liberal party is all wonderfull, and I think they're a bunch of crooks, but I still dont' verbally beat him into the ground about it. And I have a more recent friend, who's a very good friend and very intelligent, and she votes Conservative. and we get along fine and discuss politics all the time!

My mom tries to catch something 'naughty' on my monitor while using the computer.

When my parents don't knock and just bust right in like cops.

When my dad becomes annoying while manic: one time in an elevator these kids came in who were obviously having a party and so my dad had the idea to loudly complain to me about doing marijuanna. "I hope you're not smoking that marijuanna now! Have you been getting some drugs? Have you been smoking the dope lately!" This went on throughout the whole elevator ride starting from the 12th floor.
I was cracking up cause I knew he was just trying to be an asshole and the kids tried so hard not to even look at us cause I guess they were high/paranoid and some middle aged dude was yelling very negatively about weed, lol!

When my dad decideds to sleep in my sisters room (who lives somewhere else now) instead of his own room and I'm trying to play my shit loud (sisters room is right next to mine).

When my dad tries to piss me off when he finds out I'm high and just won't let me go, lol! He'll just get all annoying! One time my friend and I were eating and he just came in and started talking like crazy and my friend and I were high so we couldn't help but laugh our asses off! Aw man did he know!

Or another time when he came in my room and saw the towel under my door when he looked down, then he looked back up at us and my friend was so shy and embarrassed that he just popped up and shouted 'HI MR. ______!!!" (refuse to use any of my names or too much info after finding out that cops busted that Scooby dude from the forum here.. jesus, cant even use the internet peacefully and privately..)
My dad started to smile and said "mm 2 dope fiends here! Ya know that this is illegal? If you get caught you could go to jail!" and started going on about how it's illegal.

He's only joking around but he's still against me smoking but whenever he catches me he usually jokes around about it. I guess he doesn't care much or maybe only in front of my mom? Lol!

I wasnt being totally serious but sometimes I do things that I dont even understand and it wouldnt be suprising if I did turn out crazy. My grandfather on my dads side was schitzafrenic as was my great grandfathers brother (or at least we think he was). But ive done DXM before and one of my friends say if you were crazy and took DXM you would flip out and blow a fuse and when i did it (I took 2 bottles) it wasn't that bad, so maybe there's hope... hmmm my mom seems to make it her primary goal to embarass me and say EXACTLY the wrong thing. but she will only do it in public. like i was flirting with this REALLY cute girl at the doctors office and my mom starts saying shit like "come on we cant miss this apointment, if we dont go and get your guts fixed then you're gonna have to get a colonic bag!" i almost turned around and hit her it pissed me off so bad, but i love my mom. even though shes difficult sometimes.




but my dad is even worse, he's anti-drugs . even though he did them out the wazoo when he was my age. he wont let me get my own job without making me go through a horrible guilt trip, he wants me to work at his store, making $5 an hour, FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.


but i think i embarass myself more than anything.

It's good when you actually have time to watch TV, under your parents protection... when you move out you gonna have to buy your own Tv

TV is called the idiot box for a reason.

mom:borrows money
asks my friends to carry stuff/move stuff/build stuff
sticks her nose in where it doesn't belong
belittles me for smoking when she does it her damn self and just hides it from me

Dad-keeps trying to get me to move away from my mom to the country where I would have to start over completely because he thinks my life is fucked up. It is fucked up...but the good parts are worth it. And he doesn't see that and theres no convincing him otherwise.
Also he drinks and then calls me and talks at me about how much he hates my mother for up to two hours at a time.

more things that piss me off about my parents



my mom is moving to florida in a few weeks which is all the way on the other side of the country. shes going to take care of her parents but im gonna miss her and i kinda resent the fact that shes leaving me with my dad only 1 month after i turn 18. but she didnt have a very good life because i was such a shitty child. i stole money from my parents, i broke alot of stuff that was really important to both of my parents. and im sure that this contributed to my parents divorce last year.


mmmmmm i made myself feel like shit.......i hate thinking that im the reason my parents lives are so shitty, but i know that its all my fault. but now i wanna spend my life making alot of money and giving my parents the things they always wanted, like a vehical that doesn't have ANY problems, a nice house to retire in and i dont care if i have to go into debt and work for the rest of my fuckin life because ive made the world a pretty crappy place for alot of people, and now im suffering for it.

My mums slooowly turning into an alcoholic and she's a cheating wore who only care's about gettin money, she's got MY dla and carers alouncence money, and she never even bothers to make an effort to talk to me anymore. She's also fat and embarssing to have for a mother.

And I find it annoying because she ignores us most of the day, then chooses when we're right in the middle of something we didnt' want to miss to interrupt and start going on about nothing. and i know parents and kids dont usually get along but theres no law that says you cant have a nice realationship with your parents, cause you're gonna have to go through alot when they die and im sure you'll think back on it all and wish that you had done more to let your parents know that u care about them and love them.

once i asked him what happened in a movie, that we rented on VHS, and he wouldn't say anything, so then i asked again and he just says, jeeze will you shut up? im trying to watch this! and i know exactly how shitty that feels.

also maybe she has stuff to do, she cant be your slave all day ready to drop everything when you're ready to talk, unless she sits around the house all day doing nothing and drinking, which im sure she doesn't.

i'll stand there and say "i'll put the lawn mower in the shed because it's going to rain" then my mom says "HAY! don't leave the lawn mower out it's going to rain" i say "i just said that" then she tells me again Oo? i get out of work at 11 oclock sometimes and i ask if they would leave me some supper so i don't have to waist money on take out. when i get home there's nothing set aside and the next day she says "i didn't leave anything for you cause i didn't know if you ate already".
she used to take my weed and yell at me for having it, now she just yells at me because the smell creeps down the stairs.

BUT she's my mom and i love her cause she puts up with my crap, and is helping me not spend all my money on drugs.

my dad whistles alot! and that really pisses me off....and he knows it does, but i just let it go.
and also when my parents yawn they always make stupidly load noises....like normal yawning noises x10

Uhhhh, I could right go on for hours on the stuff my parents do that pisses me off...

My Mom has the shortest attention span ever so she'll call my name and I'll have to ask her "what?" 18 times before she can tell me. Same thing for when I ask her a question, I don't think she's ever answered a question the first time I asked it.

She does these damn cross word puzzles and she always asks me questions. And she'll answer my question's with answers, like Me: "Where is dad?", "What's an 8 letter word for produce?"

My Dad seems to think my job is to keep track of all the action in the house and what times they happen. Telling him somebody called isn't enough, I have to say WHEN they call like I have nothing better to do then stare at a fucking clock all day long for him.

I could have straight 100% on my report card but if I had one F they'd flip out and focus on the bad, completley ignoring the good.

My mom over exagerates everything and my dad under exagerates so I never know what the fuck is going on.

When ever my sister comes home, they'll ignore me the whole time like they only have one child.

They do all that, and then when they find a soda bottle with dirty water in it they wonder why....?

if my Mom was alive she would be pulling my ear...

My mother pisses me off all the time

While at school she basically integrates all the teachers, then doesn't shut up about how she all ways hates the schools. i mean when i say she talking to me about the school, i mean every day for like 2 hr's every time i go near here. i basically make up excuses to get away before i starting yelling at here becase i have heard it all before.

Every time i go to any friends house, and stay the night. then the next day i come back the frist question she says "Do you fell alright?" basicly she thinks i am always drinking and getting high like 24/7

She Bitches at me every time i smoke cigarette near here, after she had smoke like 3 compared to my 1.

Complans about the money issue, while she never tried and gets a job, and when i do ask here to get a paper she yells at me becase she says minimum wage isn't gonna support a family. (So no money is gonna help?)

Every time i go near here, she always comes up with some chore that i need to do. when she very well could have done here self, even if it was like 90% here fault...

but with all the little stuff i still love :)

Glad im out the nest now but it always pissed me off when I would find my mom passed the fuck out in the lawn or under the dining room table all fucked up on morphine or booze and have to make sure she got in bed and didnt choke.

Besides that I cant really complain...

I love this thread! Erm i cant say my parents annoy me these days, i been gone along time not, i moved out of home at 16. 10 yrs later im still living away from home.

I suppose my Dad annoys me as he hardly calls me. And never knows what to buy my kids for their birthday.. as he hardly knows them! I hate having to do all the contacting, as if i didnt we would hardly keep in touch. As for my Mum shes the coolest thing on the block! :D

My mum criticises and that annoys me or she would say that we dont mix with a certain kind of person.She lives in a council house and collects state pension yet acts like she is a loaded snob but she was bought up in a small village in posh Oxford.
