Do you enjoy your own company?

Seems like a silly question but I was just thinking about an old flatmate I used to live with who couldnt bear to be alone because she didnt enjoy her own company and I couldnt get my head round it.

I love spending time alone and was just wondering if you guys do too, or so you feel more comfortable when you're in a crowd of people?

I'm an only child too so I wonder if that makes a difference ie. I've never had any brothers or sisters to talk to/play with when I was little so I amused myself and even to this day, I can quite happily sit in a room alone without any stimulation and be fine.

I notice some people thrive more in large groups - I wonder if this is because they arent confident enough in themselves to be in a smaller group of people, say one on one, or two.

So - do you like yourself? Are you quiet happy being alone or do you feel the need to be round other people all the time? Were you an only child and do you think this makes a difference?

Hey this thread is so me!

I'm a deep introvert. Although I have a brother who I am very close too, I use to move around from country to country every three years or so, so friendships were hard to keep. I enjoy the company of people, but it takes so much energy to sustain being around people for so long, and I have to retreat to recharge my batteries so to say.

I dislike big crowds except at concerts and clubs. I enjoy a small group of friends who I know really well. I like being a loner, but other times, I'd rather chill with people.

Sometimes for me, being alone is the best. When I do get a chance to be alone, I cherish it, cause it happens alot less than I would like.

Sensi, I'm an only child too, and also am fine with my own company... in fact, sometimes I would RATHER be alone. :) My husband always says "lonely child" instead of "only child", and that kinda pisses me off, since I wouldn't ever trade my only childness for siblings!

Haha (The loner) i am an only child aswell and i enjoy my own company, when im smoking weed but if im by myself doing nothing at all i just cant stand it because it gets soo boring most of the time

yeah sometimes being alone is cool. I always seem to find some stupid thing to do, I rarely get bored.
But chilling with friends is, well, cool too. I guess it's a nice ballance.

wow yeah, i love being on my own. and i feel more comfortable in small groups like one on one and shit. im high :) so i duno if that made any sence or what

i dont mind it.

I hate being alone, but not cuz i don't like my own company, i just like havin ppl around me cuz i feel happier :D.... aslong as their happy of course.

But.... i do like some alone time every now and again, theres a river that flows out into the sea by not too far with my house, i sometimes like to go down there and sit on one of benche's along the river bank with a doobie and my personal cd player (which goes everywhere i go lol) and just sit and chill, get high listenin to some chillin tunes :thumbsup: :pimp: :rasta: :D

I like my own company, especially when hiking. I don't even take a mp3 player with me, just my dog and my thoughts. I recently had a long lasting relationship thats over now, and it's nice being alone again.

Dont get me wrong, in a room full of people, I'll be one of, or the chattiest person there- I can talk & talk & talk but I like to think a lot too, and I cant think being round too many people all the time!

I dont really like big groups of people either, I hate walking into parties where the room is full of people - much prefer small groups or 1 on 1.

Im an only child, so im used to being on my own, but its cool when my mates come over and we hit some bongs or a bit of acid.

He doesnt even know this website exists! Anyway its not like I'm doing anything wrong, I dont do anything I shouldnt and I cant control other peoples comments so I cant see him getting jealous if he was to look on this site ;)

I lived by my self for years. Right on the golf course...it was heaven. till i did about a quarter of coke a week for years.

Now i have a wife and 2 kids, when im alone it freaks me out like i should be doing somthing..... looking over my shoulder and looking at my watch.

I can handle being by myself. I have to be alone for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I prefer to be in the company of my other half whenever I can. I never get tired of haning around her. I'm not sure why, but we can spend a month strait together non-stop but we never really get into fights and get sick of each other.

At one time I did not like being alone,especially right after my ex wife left me,but now I have grown to love it... I have brothers,but mine was never a tight family so it's rare I see them... To answer the question::: I prefur to be alone and look at company as a chore...

I love being alone. I love being with my sister, and my cousin(we're pretty close...and have a blast no matter what we do). I love being with close friends. I HATE CROWDS. The main reason I love being alone so much is that I never get bored with myself, hell I never get bored with other people.. but everyone else seems to get bored so easily. If I am with someone, we always have to try and find something to do and there isn't anything to do in my small town. So we just sit there stoned and bored. But alone....its weird.. I just enjoy it and don't have to worry about anything really. Maybe I feel like I am the reason the other people get bored. I don't know..hmm. But yeah...being alone and stoned is awesome too...lets me think and shit!

I really enjoy spending time by myself. With my job, wife, and daughter, however, its a rare treat. There's nothing I like more than spending time with them but it's still good to have a little "me time" every now and then. Every other month or so I like to just take a day off work and have what I call a "Mike Day". An entire day by myself with nothing to do. Well, nothing that I MUST do. It's great to just have some free time to do whatever I want.

I dont mind being alone, for short periods of time. When I am alone too much , I do too much thinking (negative shit) and thats not good. My mom died at 60 and after that I kinda been on a downer.... any way
I have 3 sons 13, 17 and 23 and A wonderful hubby , who , by the way , goes on here too :)
They keep me busy, I am off work right now , so I am probably driving my hubby a little nutz- o LOL
I think every one likes a little ' ALONE' time....

I too am an only child. I love being alone but don't mind a lot of people. Sometimes i just like to sit and think about stuff ya know? I also just like to revel in the silence of being alone with nothing but your thoughts.

Its wierd, so many people on here said they are only childs. Hmm, i thought being an only child was less common. Or maybe only childs just like weed for some reason lol!!?!?

well for some reason, my parents thought I needed someone to play with as a youngster, so they had another, more evil daughter.
I don't really get along with her but that's besides the point.
I don't really feel I need the company of others at all, in fact I know that's the case.
Most of the week I am preoccupied with my school work and football, so I am alone most of the week.
Then the weekend comes around, and I go out with my friends and have a smashing good time.
I feel it's a good way to get the best of both worlds.
I like to kick back and relax by myself sometimes, and other times I like to go out and mingle with the opposite sex.
Ohh, it's friday, right?
