Somethings stuck!

Okay, I have a ph(x) duo 50cm waterpipe with an ashcatcher. I seem to have a little predicament on my hands. The diffuser and ashcatcher are stuck together, and I have had no luck so far on getting the two apart. I've soaked it in alcohol, run it under hot water, and tried any and every way of pulling at it, thinking that if I get it at the right angle it'll just come apart like it would any other time, but nothing works.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them with glass-on-glass pieces? Also, would heating it up with a little pen torch be bad?:confused:

I don't know, Try boiling it in water.

Yes, I've had it happen. Tried everything I knew and ended up cracking them anyway. :)

1st, do you have any pics?

2nd, heat is the wrong way to go.... if I where you, I would put those glass pieces in the freezer for a couple of hours.... then try and get them apart.

3rd, any pics?

I'm sure boiling it would loosen things up.

Ive been told that boiling water can crack a piece because of the drastic temperature change.

Thats what I thought too, but my headshop owner called ph(x) and they said that the best thing to do was to put it in a freezer...Ive boiled it for a minute or two but I'm scared of cracking it. Just those two pieces are about $135, so thats really fun.

i would slap it in freezer and and gently turn it when tryng to pull it apart

haha there is no gentle about it. My hands hurt from twisting the darn thing so hard!

Ok, action plan:::

1- Freezer

If it doesn't work...

2- Boiling it

If it doesn't work...

3- Hammer

Ya,bioling brings the risk of cracking no doubt.

if it's like mine there is time when tar builds up and acts like a glue. My heat gun has worked in the past for me...good luck to dude. It has broked as well that's why I clean mine every 3-4 day's now they don't get the chance to build up to much on me anymore.

Maybe... once it's thoroughly frozen, get the heating device and heat up the stem of the part that goes on the outside. So inner stuck piece is colder (contracted) and outter stuck piece is warmer (expanded). You'll have to be pulling the whole time though, as the frozen bit won't stay cold very long... might be a 2 person job. Good luck!

after freezing, you should find just the warmth on your hands will expand the piece ebough to free it ... remember : you want the "female' end to swell, not the glass thats inserted into it ... :smokin:

so whats the update did you get it out, did you break it, did you say screw it and just let it be

Ive frozen it, heated it, lubed it with everything I can think of ;) haha and nothing has worked. I'm just gonna leave it for the time being, hopefully i dont break it before I have the money to buy a new one!
