It really depends on your situation. But for me, a bubbler.
It might be just cause I am really drunk but isnt an ebb and flow pretty much the same as a bubbler system or am I just thinking out of it or something?
no a bubbler system is where the roots are constently sitting in water, and they have a air pump blowing bubbles to keep them oxegenated. And a ebb and flow is where u have a seperate water tank and pods (pots) and u have timers that flood and drain the system on a cycle.
Oh that is right. I could think of a bubbler but not the ebb and for some reason I thought the same thing. Thanks for helping me remember.
i see a really nice ebb and flow system here: http://www.hydroponicsonline.com/11plan01.htm
any one can build this thing in a short time, but i have no idea how strong the water pump should be. Can any one tell me how strong in gph (gallons per hour) a water pump should be for this system? How strong is your water pump? (if you use an ebb and flow that uses a pump).
a Rio 600 will work....bonbon http://www.altgarden.com/site/pumps/page1.html
nice...
I found a new 200 gph pump in ebay for 10 bucks! what a deal!!
I have the mothers in a bucket set up.
the clones in an aeroponic set up.
The harvesting plants in a ebb and flo set up.
They all work great. The aeroponic system works the best. My next change over will be to add the areoponic jets to the ebb and flo set up and remove the flood pipe.
Aeroponics seems to produce faster growth IMO.
Basically, they all work good once you get the hang of it, just remember it is a weed lol.
best advice I ever got was to READ, then read some more, then some more.
I also add a little hydrogen peroxide to my tanks, it works wonders.

Thats a hot setup dude. And what exactly does hydrogen peroxide do for the plant? I heard it prevents root rotting.
Hydrogen peroxide [HP] is H2O2, it is basically water with an extra oxygen molecule. We all know that oxygen is necessary in plant growth. Air pumps are used in the tanks to keep the water oxygenated. HP added to the water [I add 1 teaspoon per gallon] gives my plants almost twice the root mass. The roots before HP sometimes had a brown tint to them, now they are real white. I've never done any testing concerning the plant size with and without HP, but any stress the plants receive seems to pass quicker with it.

I better start using H2O2. Does anyone have a desing on making an aeroponic system? thanks.
Dimebag.
You can buy the aeroponic jets from any hydro store, they are about $1.50. Drill and tap the plastic pipe from the pump, equally spaceing them between your plants. 1 jet will do 4 plants. They look like little lawn sprinklers. I used 1/2 pvc pipe placed on the bottom of my ebb and flo tray, works great.

my pump came in the mail today its a via aqua 480, works great! Best 10 bucks i ever spent. Ebay is awesome.
Best most consistent results ive seen are from coco fibre pots.
run nutrient to waste, feeding couple of 1 or 2 ,minute feeds a day lights on.
Raced this set up against an recirc/ebbnflow type thing and it kicked.
didnt win on time, but gave most consistent results and is better in hot/cold situations time after time.
looking for information on the aeroflo 60 anyone ever use it or hear good or bad about it
I am in dirt now thinking about this system and need all the imput'
Best results are from NFT.
Best results with minimum effort are from DWC, which most people bubble.
I take that back. Best results are from fogging. This is difficult to do correctly and expensive. Most people claiming to be fogging are not doing in properly.

For best results the pots are not submerged. I lower my nute level as my roots get longer, leaving only a few inches of roots in nutes and a few exposed to air. They like it this way.
Ebb and flow its simple and all parts at a DIY
Buckets, pump, fitting, hose, timmer, gravel I have set up a few. 50-200 gallons 5 buckets to 70 +- if you do a search on my Oldsanclem, and sanclem, its in there.
Donut shop used buckets are about 75 cents each, garden hose1/2 , T's 3/8 granit works as good a hydrocorn.
Main thing buy good pot growing ferts, and haul ass.
If your trying go with a 1-3 buckes go bubbler.
O yea one thing always buy a 2-3 times the flow that need and mag drive only. !!!!
Just a quick note on H2O2. Hydrogen peroxide will kill the bacteria (good and bad) in the res. If you are growing with an already healthy res, it is a very bad idea to add Hydrogen Peroxide to increase oxygen levels.
When my plants are young I also submerge the bottom of the net pots. This guarantees the roots of the young plants are reaching the water. As Opie said, just bring the water level down as the roots grow out of the pot.
The one thing not mentioned here is; You can use h2o2 in chemical nute recipes, but not organic recipes...for the reasons above...buy some hygrozyme and play it safe.Quote:

Young plants should not get submerged, because they are not strong/big enough to take in the oxygen necessary and will drown (the oxygenated solution does not contain enough oxygen to sustain a plant with little or no roots)...Actually, You want netpots that have not showed roots 1/4-1/2inch above waterline, so that medium stays wet, but roots reach out and get stronger seeking out nourishment.
Once they have a strong root system, then you should keep solution...right up to, or slightly above bottom of netpot.
It is a matter of choice at that point. peace

I actually clone in just a DWC bucket with the tips of the clones in the water about 1/2-1 inch. Just ph adjusted water with a slightly oversized air pump and they root about 90% or more in anywhere from 6-10 days. I never have the tips out of water as i have found mine seem to grow faster. Maybe not all strains will react that way though.
Interesting...
and, Opie, I love ya man, and don't mean to pick on ya...(probably, cause you post so much trying to help everybody.)
but, In my opinion...DWC is the most work of any of the hydro methods...all that water toting...I like my big system where I just pump water/solution into a big rez...otherwise I would be hauling 40-50 gallons of water a week...hell no...not me, I always have some kind of DWC going, but I am taking the summer off. After these 6 plants in various hydro systems, finish...I am doing a 'Monster' soil grow until fall.
right now I have Misty Blue, Papaya, white widow, C99xNL5, and something kinda/sorta local...LOL Ja'maka'Mon, and waiting on NYCD. gotta start a couple of them...As soon as they arrive.
sorry, didn't mean to ramble on...It just comes out! lw
