soil or nutrients...?
Nutes, ok ... not soil tho
I say NO & NO but that's just me I guess.
Shults cactus food is a better match then that crap if that is all you can get or have money for.

The soil's great if you can raise the pH about every watering. I've been successful with it so far, and just about the same with their entire basic fertilizer line [ not Schultz, Miracle-Gro ]. It's great if you know the meaning of regulation.
kush.. have you tested the soil.. to see what the PH is...?
thanks
: )
Yes.
Acidic, and it will stay that way if it's not raised. I experience this a lot with MG soil -- I think it's those damn wood chunks and not so much the continuous feed capsules.
: ) < LoL
so what was the PH?
: )
Of the soil before testing? Shit, like 5.2. I immediately went to some 8.0 water, then tested the run off from that and it had raised to 6.1.
And my PPM levels are below 300.
very interesting.. cause I just grew the most amazing plant using miracle grow and water straight from the tap...PH 8.0.. NO nutrients!!!!
it was an experiment of course... it ended up giving 3 ouncees!!!
the main colas was 15 grams..
this was only using cfl's..
it was started from a bag seed and flowered when it was only 15 days old.. 4 inches tall!!!!!
there are pictures around here somewhere..
thanks for the info.. very very interesting... iwas wondering why the tap water was working so well!!!!!
security can only be obtained when the need for security is relinquished
to play it safe, mix chemical fertilizer at household, not outdoor, strength during the vegetative phase. I did that, feeding every 3rd watering with no burning at all. Who knows, maybe they could have taken more. Later with Miracle Grow Bloom Booster, I built up to full outdoor strenghth because the N was low.
I smoked some sample recently and I'm still alive, so I say go for it.
That is interesting.Quote:

Mango, was it?
I use tap water as well, but it's already below 100 PPM and set at ~7.0, and usually not straying too far from 7 if it's more acidic or alkaline, more often acidic. Then I just toss the upper in there, raise it to 8; then from there it was balanced temporarily again. Probably going to do it again next watering.
yeah it was a mango...
I thought it was just a fluke that it worked at 8.0... and because the plant was flowered when it was so young.. and because soil can be so forgiving...
but now with what you are reporting, it all makes sense..
: )
Miracle-Gro isn't so bad if you can raise the alkalinity of the water between feedings to compensate for the balance fluctuation.
I did a feed, leech, feed, leech and so on cycle with the watering and feeding, which worked out great considering I've got good drainage.
It's good that we managed to compare data and come to a conclusion on at least this one thing.
I don't think that the feeding is really even necessary ..the soil has so many nutrients in it already...
: )
Do you think the nutes were used up by the flush KNowm?
Or are those buds going to be harsh and burn black?
