Stoned and looking for rattlesnakes
Man, I love the summer time
Lots of hiking, smokin and exploring
Today was very warm and I decided to take a short hike and see if I could find some rattlesnakes. Unfortunately, I didn't see any but I did see a nice lizard and a coyote on my walk. I took some pictures and even did a few self timed pictures of myself. Late

Hell yea! I love doing outdoor stuff when stoned. Just the other day I caught 3 different kinds of fish on the same trip and even caught a 3 foot snake. Pretty fuckin wild.

To top it all off, I had a full pack of cigs, but no fuckin lighter. It took me a little over an hour and a half to find my way back to the party, and due to all of the running and shit, I was completely sober.

my second time getting high me and a friend were walking home, it was getting late, and it was quite warm out, and there was a rattle-fucking-snake that my friend wanted to 'catch and keep for a pet' i told him he was out of his fucking mind if he thinks i was getting anywhere near it. then he started chasing it (it was a baby, but sometimes baby's venom is even more powerful then full adults) and it starts slithering away, and he's trying to stomp on it's goddamn tail with his foot.... i was hoping he'd step on it so it'd bite his ass then i could fucking laugh at his ass for being a fuckin idiot while we wait for the paramedics to come...

Believe me, I am not trying to catch any snake. I just like to see them and get some nice photos of them. I do my best to try and respect nature, not destroy it.

Oh yeah,
Hwy 395 rocks. I know the trails that lead from Yosemite to Kings Canyon.
I also dig the Southwest. Southern Utah, New Mexico, Western Colorado. My flyrod, sack of beans, rice, dried fruit, my Swiss Army Knife,Sleeping bag, and my buds/ bubble hash. I need nothing else. I am gone for two or three weeks just trippin around the Rockies or the Sierra.
I see that hwy 120 east, going towards hwy 395 is going to be closed fairly late due to the high snowpack. The waterfalls and the Merced river are running very high volume in Yosemite. Fucking sweet.
I live in San Francisco and i also have a cabin up in the Truckee area.
I go up there every chance i get.
One of my favorite things to do is take my scooter to Kings Canyon and coast down the side of the Mountain on it.. Very nice. From Azaleia camp ground down to the Kings River. The ride down is awesome.
Great day here in SF today. I am out the door going down to Muddy Waters Cafe to pick some tunes with a couple friends.

i was hiking on the AT a couple years ago and got to this part that ran along a dark rocky area for about 4 miles. all i heard was rattles going off in the bushes as i walked through then i almost walked on one it coiled up and started rattling i was about 3-4 feet from it. i hummed sum rocks at it and missed. then picked up about a 50 pound rock walked up to it crushed it. it did this funny roll and rolled off the trail and stopped rattling. they scare the shit out of me.

..... who said any of that? i love snakes, i think he's fucked for crushing it's head with a rock (when he surely could of just went around it) but still... he can be in the woods if he wants to.... having no right to kill an 'innocent' living creature, and having no right to step foot into it's natural territory/home are two diffrent things... snakes can't post up 'Keep Out' signs, so thier home is pretty much free to everyone and everything... along with just about every other livng creature in this world...

lets get this straight. this was a single trek trail on a very steep incline and snakes under every rock. literally rattles going off in the bushes 5-10 feet off the trail. i couldnt just go around. now euphoric would you risk getting bit by a highly venomous snake 3-4 miles from the nearest road by yourself? you can have sever reactions from their bites and die i wasnt about to risk it. sorry if your an animal rights activist or something but i think you have no experience in the woods.

Yeah, I got a buddy (my old dealer) that moved from San Diego up to Bishop and he is an avid Fly Fisher. He loves it up there. Said he can catch 20 in a morning sometimes and no shortage of awesome places to go. I have been there a few times and I have also been to Bridgeport when I was in the Corps for a snow survival/skiing training course. IMO an incredible part of Cali. Here is a couple of hikes that I want to do.

That shit sounds baddass. I love swimming holes. It is always nice to camp without a bunch of boy scouts and people around. I am going to look that up. Late

Ever been up to White Mountain? Not too far from Bishop and you get an incredible view of the Sierras. You can drive up to about 10,000 feet to where the ancient bristlecone pines are. Definitely someplace woth checkingout.

LOL, sounds like you have little experience with snakes. But, better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Herb and the outdoors were made for each other. When I lived in New Jersey, I would smoke and walk along the beach in Long Branch. I also would smoke and go hiking in the park in Atlantic Highlands.
Being in TX, I'm still trying to discover the good outdoor spots. Some guy I ran into told me about a lookout point near where I live so I may go check that out. Get blazed and watch thunderstorms...the best!!!

Check out this beauty. I found her a couple years ago, crawling across the trail about a mile or so from my house. I'd guess she was about 6-7' long.

Cool:cool: That thing is big. The rattler must be 2 inches long.
Check these out. This is no more than 3 miles from my house.

The mountains in California are amazing. I can hike for hours and never get bored.
My son just got out of the Marines. That makes me very happy.

Mt. Whitney is fucking beautiful. Becareful. She is also very tricky and deadly.
Death Valley? Know your limitations and make sure you have your topographic map. You have a real good sense of adventure. You remind me of myself. I am 50 and i find it very hard to sit still with so much natural beauty around me.
California is like no other place in America. I could never leave here.
Her trails are like the curves on a womans body. I have to explore every inch and still want more.

Thats a nice photo of the Wolf you have posted by your name. The thought process that you have towards beautiful snakes almost wiped the Wolf off the planet.
My hopes are that the next snake you encounter is dealt with in a way that leaves you and the snake alive and well. Killing it makes no sense. It is a stupid ignorant thing to do. Dont go through life being stupid and ignorant.
dai*ma
I have encountered Mountain Lions, Rattle Snakes, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, and never had to kill any of them. Give yourself and the animals you encounter some space.
