Why did you start smoking cigs

If you smoke cigs (or used to) why did you start, i dont really know why i started i just sort of got persuaded to try it by a friend and just found myself buying them more often and i just got addicted.

Its a really stupid thing to do because if you figure out how much money you could save if you dont smoke you would be suprised.

Whats the point in paying for cancer anyway, my friend has quit smoking 3 years ago and im still hooked im them i find them really hard to give up, its like its almost impossible.

What are your reason for starting smoking (cigs)?

pretty much the same reason u started dude..."cuz my m8s do it"... back then (13 years old) we thought it was cool :cool: now i regret it and want to stop, but... if i didnt smoke cigs i probably would not have tried weed.

I started cause i enjoyed the head rush, and i absolutely loved smoking a cig after smoking a bowl...

Its what you do, you know? Like if you dont have anything to do, you smoke a ciggarette. You do it while hanging out, if your in a non smoking area with some buddies and you are bored, you go outside and smoke a cig

i worked in a truck where every1 of my partners smoked cigs. pack a day for 7 months, but i quit cold turkey. well, the first week i rolled a couple of jay's with tabacco in them to quit. but niccotine free 4 1 year!

precisely. i dont remember when i first tried a cigarette, prolly to fit in with the group i was with, but i didnt get hooked until a lil over a year ago. i stopped smoking jacks after 8th grade, smoked maybe 10-12 jacks while i was in high school. then haning out with ppl last year and getting high, i smoked a few. then on new year's we hung out with 2 girls that smoked, and it pretty much stuck with me since then.

I started smoking when I turned sixteen, consider it an invitation to my death...or a present. I'm eighteen now and I've been smoking righteously ever since. Can't say I hate it and can't say I love it, but it's something to do. Especially when you've an overactive chemical inbalance. It's a good thing to deter your focus.

I work at a gas station where all my coworkers do is get high and smoke cigs. Before that, I had quit for a long time (unless you count finals weeks). Prob. going to quit again and stick to pot.

13 years old when i started, now 14...

i started cuz i was baked and my friend told me if i had a newport while baked it got you higher, so he lended me one and i like'd it after alot of coughing, and from then on i've been smoking a pack a day..

Started when I was 13... I just wanted to be cool... My parents smoked which made the decision easier... I continued to smoke for the next 33 years of my life... I encounterd a heart attack at age 44 and bladder cancer at 45 and I still smoked... I finally kicked them at 46 and it's been 2 years now...

All I can say is you need to come to a crossroad and the want to quit has to be stronger than the want to smoke...

Don't be like me and have chest pains just from a simple thing like walking to the car...

LIFESAVERs........ plenty of em cause you need to satisfy just the simple act of doing something with your hands and mouth... I went through 2 8oz bags for a month,then about 1 bag a day for the next 2...

MY mum let me have one, thinking i would be sick (She made me smoke it in the bathroom incase i was sick) but i wasnt, i enjoyed it, and i started to smoke maybe 3 a day...

I started smoking cos i though it made me look like a man, like my dad, but when i was about 10, i reaslied it doesnt look cool, all its doing is killing me, and im stil smoking cigs these days, and cant stop. Wish i had never started.

Both of my parents smoked while growing up, and I'd be in my bedroom with the windows open, they'd be outside working in the yard, smoking a cigarette, and I'd yell at them to put it out.

I was 16, and my friend drove to the store. We used his sister's car and, on the way back, we each smoked one his Sister's cigarettes that she had left in the car.

I, still, remember the scenery and the exact location when we discussed it and started smoking.

Well I was almost 18, and by then, almost all my friends chain smoked and I was used to turning down a cig and just being around all that smoke. Then I just got curious, and tried one. I smoked them on and off for about 6 months or so (mostly because I enjoy the buzz after I get high, and partly b/c it was something to do in social situations) then started to notice little things leading to the decline of my health, so I stopped.

my grandma smokes, and my mom smokes weed(which she tries to keep secret, but ive pinched her bag a few times already lol)

i could actually go for one right now though...

I tried it first at 12, my older brother gave me one of his camels to use for lighting fireworks so I decided I'd try it. Started sneaking the occasional Marlboro with a friend of mine who smoked and just seemed so much cooler then me.

I bought my first pack at 15...mostly for something to do while walking around town that was "shocking" to my mostly uppity christian town we'd moved to when I started high school.

I gradually got hooked...longest I've ever gone without a cigarette since then is 6-9 months when I tried to quit at 19.

This time, I'm going to quit. I've been working on it since January...haven't been 100% successfull, I've still bought 3 packs during that time, but it's an improvement. It's hard to walk into a convience store though...It's a battle every time I don't ask our local clerk (nice little old hindu guy!) for a pack of smokes.

The first time i smoked a ciggarette i was in 3rd grade, we used to steal them from my friends mom hehe it seemed everyday we were stealing cigarettes.

mines a weird one. ok i was about 6 or so, and i had a friend i always hung out with and he always hung out with his older brother and his friends (they were like 6+ years older then us, both of us were also lavished with money by our parents) ok so they forced us to smoke, so that we would get addicted (which we did, eventually, until then it was just fear, WE WERE 6 THEY WOULDA KICKED OUR ASS >.<) so we'd be forced to buy cigs. from them at ridiculously high prices, so they could have money... yea, that's why i' hopelessly addicted to cigs. because some 12-14 y.o. bitches wanted to make a few bucks... well anyways, after a year or two of smoking up to a half a pack of cigs a day, those older kids moved, along with my friend and everything and i was by myself, back then i didn't really reconize it as a craving or addiction, because i didn't know better, but i just wanted to smoke, at the time i felt i 'needed to smoke' so i started stealing them by the packs from my grandma, buying them from other sources, up until i was about 13, i finally then convinced my grandma to allow me to smoke, and she started buying me a pack a day... i've pretty much smoked my whole life... i've also tried to quit well over 20 times, and all diffrent methods.. nicotien gum, nicotien lozenges, home remedies, candy, cold turkey, and the other way, which is slowly quitting, smoking maybe 1 less cigarette every other day, and combinations of them all in between... quitting for me is impossible... i'm what you'd call 'hopelessly addicted'

Dunno,... just out of bordom.

I was dry and desparate to smoke something. A nicotine buzz was better than no buzz at all. That was about a year ago. I smoked half a pack a day for most of it but a few months ago I slowly started to cut back. Now I smoke just one a day. It gives me something to look forward to. I don't think I'm truly addicted like most people who smoke are.

i think the reason why i started was someone persuaded me, but then again if i didn't start cigs i probably wouldnt have smoked weed!

Now these days i regret it and its no longer a addiction prob its more the lines of 'your bored you have nothing to do why not spark up a cig'

I started after i quit pills and then i got addicted to fags and now do pills again. Plus i love smoking when im rolling

with 2 friends.they were, so i did

To look cool.

And because my job was kinda stressfull (I was only telemarketing for AOL LOL)
