Lollipoping for scrog

On my first scrog here and im in flower. Does anyone one know if im to late to start taking of the smaller fan leaves under the sgrog and the little small bud sites? They arent getting any light as the larger fans are preventing any light getting through. I know justaseed had a thread about something along these lines but i cant find it so if your looking in justaseed will i stress the plant to much to start now or am i ok to start taking a bit of them of each day. Or does anyone else no any thing on this topic , Mobay, Buck,Garden ,Turtel, jdoog image or even lord Zandor any one . The Postman.

everything that isn't getting enough lite, cut it... and use a boxknife... just for teh Gh3TT0 feel of it.

Or you can simply tuck them out of the way.
Thats what I do if I can. Or I'll cut it off with a sterile razor.

DON'T CUT ANYTHING UNDER THE SCREEN!!! i have scrogged many times and i have found that the more you cut, your buds will be leafier and less dense and yeilds will suffer. i would cut very few fan leaves above the screen to expose all budsites to the light. i would leave EVERYTHING below the screen untouched. alot of the undergrowth will die off anyway so just let it happen naturally. i learned all of this by trial and error so i know 1st hand that it works the best.

You know you can always save them to make bubble hash?

(I should do that today for tomorrow's 4-20 party.)

Problem is when you cut the plant you stress it. During flower you don't want the plant to stress do you? If you cut to much the plant could go into stress recovery mode and spend its energy on repairing the damage and not flowering or producing trichomes.

Right! cutting anything off the plant will stress it at least a little bit. Wouldn't it be best to simply pluck off the leaves that are yellowing and dying off near the bottom of the plant?

Just tug them, if the stay on.. leave em, if they come off.. well.. they come off

Remember, to keep as little dead plant material around your plant as possible. Bugs love the dead leaves.

Zandor i save all my trim for bubble hash.Waste not want not lol.Thanks for all your input as i new to this scrog lark.The thing is i didnt have them under the screen during veg but i had them lst right through veg for a screen during flower.After i sexed them i didnt want to have to disturb them to rip out males.Insted of putting a screen over them i have just tied wire across and tied them as i have went along narrowering the squares in the prosess it seems to be doing the trick. So any other ideas you all can through my way would be much appreciated.The Postman.

The yellow ones and the dead one are fine to take. It's the healthy leaves people cut that I am talking about. If you have large fan leaves tuck them out of the way or tie them back to the stock. The plant will use them up then you can take them. No stress on the plant that way.

Any of you lads or ladies know at what stage i should stop tying the plant under the screen and how far should i allow the plant to reach out i am thinking just alocate each plant a 1 and a half feet square each lol.Man this scrog isnt as easy as you think.Thanks for all your input people.I may just post pics here and then you people can instruct me what to do.Later .The postman.

Well the idea is you figure how tall you can make your plants at the end and work back from there. You need at least 30 day's for the plant to develope all the antioxidents in proper portuions for a good flower. (If you are growing from clones then don't worry about that). So lets say that they are 24" tall at 30 days. They will end up about 38-46" when finished so you place the screen at 30".

Right i think ive got it now lol.Thanks zandor.ive grew from seed this time as thought i would try a change of strain so i just trained them through veg until they were sexed they vegged for 5 weeks and when they went in to 12/12 and i started threading the screen it didnt look as if they were going to fill out under it but after 5 days they have started to fill out nicely , they are under 1000 watts hps and the screen is 6ft by 5ft and im a bit paranoid that the 1000 watts is not sufficient i have read that it covers 7ft by 7ft but we all know how you can get when you get into the lunems territory lol we end up going mad , adding and adding.Dont want to go there.Heres some pics of them in veg.thanks a lot the Postman.
P.S adding lights i mean not lumens.

a 1000w is really good coverage for about 4x4 is all. For other plants it's one thing but for our plant we pump up the light.

Just remember they will grow almost double the size or more before they are done. You only want the flowers to poke through the screen if you can. That's why you put the screen so high up on the canopy. They grow into it and fill it out 100%. If they get to tall you can tie them back to the screen too.

So if you were covering an area of 6ft by 5ft what would you add to the 1000 watt to aid coverage.Would warm red cfl added to the 1000 watt be ok.Lets say 2x 200 watt full red.thanks for the input zandor.The Postman.

here are a few old pics of how far i used to let the plants go over the screen, about 8-16 inches.

Dave is would still cover the area it's just the sides may not get as much light as the middle will. Raise the light to even it out but that brings stretching too. A light mover is a better idea if that is what you are thinking.

Thanks Zandor thats what in going to do a light mover would be my choice to but finances wont permit one for now so i have the 1000 watt sitting at 18 inches and it looks to be covering the area ok .I also changed the hood .I had a cool tube that my good freind mobay sent me but it got broke in transit so i took of the broken glass and opened up the reflector in it and used that as the hood it seems to be transfering the light evenly across the screen now so we will see lol. Justaseed man i just love these pics of your scrogs man they are among the best i have saw and that is the exact way i want my scrogs to be you are the scrog king my freind. the thing with this scrog of mine is that i have 3 differant strains in there ,aurora indica this strain seems to me not to like scrog to much.White russian seems to love it and is filling the screen out well but more bushy than big like the aurora indica .i also have a jamaican strain in there and it is just thriving under there ,im trying to let light get down to its little bud sites as i have some polen from a white russian male that im was wanting to paint on them to cross them both any ideas on this prosess a freind has told me that if i just use a little paint brush and paint the pollen on the little bud sites that it will seed them,Another thing i have been tying the stems along the screen as they grow is this what you do?thanks people .The Postman.

i have found that the "white" strains take very well to scrog especially the sativa dom pheno's. i would onlly but clones of the same mother under 1 screen. even the same strain from differwent seeds take different time to flower. it's not a big deal, you will just have to harvest at the same time and one plant might not be quite ready. i hope i explained that well enough to make sense to you.

Got you justaseed.i will get some pics sorted tonight and show you what i mean .Out of the 3 white russians2 are sativa dominant and one leaning more towards indica.The aurora indica is totaly differant its a large plant and it starting to take over so i decided last night that im going to stop putting it under the screen and just let them do there thing were they sit as the flowers have set and im not want to damage them.Tellin you mate im starting to realise just how difficult it must have been for you to do those scrogs that you show in your pics.Hat of to you mate you are damn good at this scrog stuff.later .the potman

this is probably a dumb question .... but ... is the SCROG method a good idea with 'plants-from-seed', or does it only work well with clones ... ? :smokin:

Sure you can SCROG from seed but you do need to know the sex before you install the screen. Or you could miss a male and then have seeds in all your other plants. Most SCROG with clones so they donâ??t have that problem or worry but you can grow from seeds too.

Not dumb at all man... very good question.

I can relay, what I've read here... mainly, I remember HarddOn saying that you can make a SCRoG from seeds, but it isn't the easiest/smartest route. I think JustAseed said the same.

Now, here's MY take on it: I think that they say this, because a plant from seed, by the time it reaches the screen, the secondary growths (very used in SCRoG) are starting to grow... so you're going to have that big stem, and the secondary grows a little further behind...

I don't know, that's what I think. I'm going with SCRoG clones. :)

yeh i agree with that now turtle as this scrog of mine is from seed and im now finding that it has to be done from clones to achive its full potencial.Mine were tied down all through veg and i can now see the benefit of doing that.My mistake was doing it with multible strains as the aurora indica doesnt like it at all.Actually i think i might have lessened the yeild instead of increasing it on the AI but have definetly increased the white russian and nebula yeilds but lol (always a but)lol now im having a problem with the light coverage of the 1000 watt hps so im thinking of adding 4x 85 watt warm red fluresant tubes any one think this would help i have these sitting so if they could help some one let me in on it im not up in lumens from the fluresant tubes.I dont want to waste the power if they wont help they are t 8 or 12 i cant remember.The postman

Alright hungry lol this scrog is doing my head in .The flowers have all formed and since i added the 4 t12 tubes they have really came alive and are now all set in there place so now im just leaving them to grow .out of the 9 plants i think the yeild is looking a lot healthier then it would be if i hadnt scroged them so i must have done something rightlol. the t12 add another 7000 lumens per tube i know lumens cant be added so i dont know if they are worth the extra power or if they are ent helping that much need one of the light experts to advice me on this so any of you lookin in add you 10c worth please>The Postman.

Alright bob .Yeh the aurora indica doesnt seem to like being under the scrog.I would say that she would thrive with the right lst method,like just opening her up a bit i dont haver any pics of her at the moment but i have pics of her when she was getting lst for the scrog during veg hope they help. the postman.

As for the scrog .I trained the plants through veg so when the scrog went over them it wouldnt stress them as much.This is my first attemtp at scrog so its not as good as some of the guys who grow this method like justaseed,britewire zandor and all the rest of you iw ould like to thank you lads for all the input .Everything i learned about scrog i have learned with the help of all you people on this site so thanks lads.I had some problem with the light coverage >i was using a 1000 watt hps but it wasnt covering the scrog properly so i added 4x 85 watt 6ft fluresant tubes warm red and it seems to have done the trickheres some pics but i will have to take some more as these old pics and i am now 3 weeks from harvest.it was never meant to be as big but i got more females than expected so there is 3x aurora indics 3x white russian,1 x jamaican strain and a nebula and a white widow.The white strains and the nebula love the scrog ansd the jamaican seems to love it The jamaican strain i got from my freind mobay and i have pollinated 4 of her little buds with white russian to see if we can keep this strain going as she was some kick ass weedand mobay bro could not have done this scrog without your help my freind this scrog is down to you lol (im blaming you anyway lol)anyway have a look and any questoins or critasism greatly reseaved the postman.

If anyone has any info on scrog please add your 2 cents worth as this is my first but not my last so any info i can get would be very helpfull or any links .I have scanned the facts on this site and learned loads from them but any other info any of you can add will be ace.You know what i mean.The mesh on this scrog as i said is 2 inch square i know you all recomend 1 inch square but this being my first one i wanted to be able to get my hand in there.another thing i need info on is how you guys flush when under the screen so justaseed, mobay, zandor, turtle , garden, britwrie, hungry image ahh fuck it i cant be bothered naming you all lol help me out hear HOW DO I FLUSH LOL. later The Postman.

Bumb .anyone any ideas how i can get round this flush while under the scrog.i am using 4 gallon pots that are sitting in 12inch by 12 inch trays that are 6 inch deep .any ideas would be great,heres a pic and you can see the trays they have holes 3 inches up for ventalatoin so when flushing i would need to get the water from the trays before it floods the place dont have a pump so any ideas will help.the postman.
