I'm watching a documentary at the moment, about the US
I have a question.. I just want peoples opinions, though.. not arguements or insults, so if you don't like the question or if you don't like what someone says and you feel like insulting them, then don't bother
In your honest opinions, do you think America is becoming more of an Empire than a Nation?

What do you think? Again, i'm not insulting anyone or trying to start an arguement. I am simply posting this as a response to a documentary on the Channel 4 about wether the US is an empire or not, and how/why it ignores the fact that it is if, in fact, it is. I just want your opinions :)

i have a therory(dont make fun, im not a huge nerd) that eventually the democrats or possibly some other group will try and secede(sp?) from the us and a huge conflict will result and we(the US) will fall to peices and some outside group will try to come to power, i mean, the US cant stay the ultimate empire forever
History repeats itself. Throughout history, great nations and empires have risen and fallen. This will happen, it's just a matter of time. I just wonder if it will be a good thing or a bad thing...
I also believe that when the US falls apart, it will be because some party, group, state etc will want to claim indepence.

rome fell, greece fell. we will too. and i see it in tha near future. right now i think tha US is slowly isolating itself from tha rest of tha world. if we werent than why does our country spend so much money on stupid shit that iz completely worthless instead of tryin to help out other people.
Dude I definitly think the U.S. is the modern empire. We're the most powerful empire there in the history of the world. We're 3 times stronger then the second most powerful country (china), but since we are trying to impose our opinion on so many other people right now that our military is in to many places at once and it is currently useless if anyone else were to rise up, George bush has spent so much money on a usleess war that we probably wont be able to offard to keep our own military running strong. Someone else is going to come to power soon and we are going to have a hard time swallowing it because so much of our nation realise on us being able to control the actions of the rest of the world. I hope that the next most powerful country is a good one. In some way I hope we dont crash too bad, because then alota shit would fuck up for me and my family and freinds :( . The next strongest country would probably be china, maybe isreal, I hope it's the UK...they wouldn't kick our asses TOO much. Canada has a really good system going up there and they aren't starting shit. Alot of the socailist countries are very reaserved and function fairly well.
