ok, my question is, do you consider the hit finished when the "hittee" exhales? or when he takes his mouth off of the smoking device. For example, i think its when you exhale, so i like to take small puffs of fresh air, WITHOUT letting any smoke out mind you, during the hit to take bigger hits, kind of like carbing it.
but some consider as soon as ur mouth leaves the bowl a hit, im just wondering what the majority thinks
Just depends on how low you're weed supply is running. I don't see a problem with taking a couple tokes before passing. It's only when you only have a bowl to go around and there's that one guy taking multiple hits while the guy at the end of the line gets screwed. I'd say the hits over when you exhale. Some people take really big draws, some take a couple small ones.

the only thing i dont like is when i smoke someone up and someone else takes the first hit then passes it the other way so im the last person to hit it. but yeah i usually dont really care cuz im talking so just whenever it gets to me it gets to me:D
1 hit consistes of inhalen, the exhalen, the hit is not finished, untill you have exhaled.
THIS MEAN
if you came over, hit my bong, took your mouth off, inhaled, then put your mouth back on, continued to inhale, and clear the bong, that would be considered one hit. Now this is me, you may not be that way with your weed/guests.
NOW
if you came over, hit my bong, took your mouth off, then exhaled befor clearing it, i would consider you to have taken "your hit", and to have fucked it up,
the hit you take consists, souly of the smoke in your lungs, w/e is left over in the bong, is not part of your hit, but paart of your fucken up ^^. hope this clerifies something.
btw i understand you might run out of room, but you always try n clear what you start ;)

I think with a bong, your hit's not over till you've finished the cone. If you can't pull a whole cone in one shot then you'll end up maybe looking a bit silly, but at least finish it costhe next person isn't going to want to smoke your leftovers when they can have a fresh cone.
i take a little bit at a time and then exhale. i like to puff my blunt. with my freinds we rele dont care about how many hits u take(if its a blunt) its more about how long you take before u pass it
Yep. Bongs are a little easier to tell than say a joint. I would bet that most of the aggravation would come from sharing a J with some buds and waiting for a hit when some dudes toking on it several times. With bongs, it's allmost fun watching someone try to clear a thick ass fog.
Well with a joint then if your going to just sit there holding your breath and letting the jay burn then I would consider the hit over about 2 seconds after they took the toke, why should we wait 5 seconds for them to exhale when they can just simply pass when their done with it?
With a bong then I don't mind if someone sort of double tokes to clear the chamber, cause if that smoke is considered a hit, then it sure as hell ain't fair to pass it and have someone just get a stale hit and pass it.
we don't smoke the whole bowl in one rip when we smoke bongs. i don't even think that would be possible honestly. we pack like 1/4 grams in that bowl, and between 3 people we each hit it 2-3 times, taking big rips.
My bong's really big, and holds a lot of smoke. I usually don't want someone relighting it unless they didn't get a hit, but if there's still smoke in the bong and they're fast enough about it I have no problem letting them clear it.
For me It depends how many people i'm smoking with, and who they are. If there is less than 4 of us I would say when you exhale, but if they arent cool with me or there more than 4 I would say not.
I concider a hit when you exhale.

the people i hang with and i keep several bowls and lighters around so when company drops by everyone has their own filled bowl and can toke and cap at their leisure...

yea i would love to have the luxury that many of you have ( and hopefully soon will) but finances at the current moment restrict my intake (ie. my girlfriend pays for all the weed =/ ) so it gets tight and tempers get to flarin and i was just curious as to what everyone else thought

Del... has the life I want. I always have weed, and would love to just lounge around somewhere with my friends and smoke personal bowls and watch tv or something. But in reality, I usually smoke up a handful of really ungrateful moochers. I usually don't mind, but when I never get hit back, it makes me feel generous less and less.

I only have 2 rules for smoking.
I always use a bic and I don't smoke alone. (I never get as high when I'm alone so I try and share)
This leads me to having "community sacks" as we call them up here in the northwest.
Now if somone is smoking a bong, hit it, clear it and pass it.
If it is a pipe, hit and pass.
I really hate it when people mooch and say "opps did I hit that twice?"
Now if this was cuz we are stoned already and rotation got held up from an energetic retelling of a darwin award worthy story, I can understand. I accidently double hit sometimes, but if they are sober and are trying to "sneak" a hit cuz they think I'm not getting them high enough....well that just pisses me off, and they don't want to see my irish side come out.
Around here we state etiquette if someone doesn't know. Like when the joint gets short and we want it to go all the way around again, when it gets to me, I state "now we are on a 1 hit pass, too short for puff, puff, pass"
I hate eating in front of hungry people and I hate smoking infront of sober people, but if it is your weed and you don't speak up about what flies in your house, well then you invite drama.
And you know how much we all like drama........
Be honest with your circle. Some of them may be too shy to bring it up and don't really want to offend you.
