Just another reason why I wouldnt want a Myspace, I wouldnt want anyone writing a SOB comment on there.
Anyone else find this mydeathspace thing quite disturbing???

I don't find it disturbing as much as I find it sublime. Its weird to look someone who you never knew, and understand some of what thier life is about.

I guess I don't see how you could understand anything about their life from this website besides how they died.....

if you click on the profile you can read some cool shit
like the white guy who was like 23 and liked clubbing and girls and seemed cool.he actually wrote that he was a momas's boy and loved her very much
then he stabbed her and her friend to death.
it just seems weird cuz he looks like a normal guy.
it could happen to anyone

hell yeah people saying shit like "you fucker I used to trust you" after they kill someone. You always kinda forget how easy it is for someone who seems so normal to snap. Reminds you to keep your eyes open.

i find these obituaries much more 'real' than real newspaper obituaries. and i find it disturbing, or at least startling, that they just have these big headlines right there that say things like "suicide #7". they're so specific and brutally matter-of-fact about the way each person died, it's creepy but kind of cool the way they don't tiptoe around the reality of it.

some of the comments posted on the dead persons myspace were very sad... almost brought me to tears...

I think it gives people a chance to share their feelings and pay their respects,I think if people don't have anything nice to say they shouldn't say anything at all.I have always been interested in how people have died or why people have killed people.
Make the most of life you don't know how long you are going to be around.

okay yeah but they're only doing it the same way they did TOO MUCH of their communication even before the person died, through an impersonal online site that falls FAR SHORT of capturing what a person really is inside, or of being anywhere near appropriate for death. i have mixed feelings about it i guess, but now i'm thinking there is something totally fucked up about combining 'death' and 'myspace.'
people really do try to communicate with the dead through myspace out of frustration and partial denial that they can no longer really say what they needed to say to that person. it just fucking creeps me out to see a profile intact the way it was, as if they were still alive, and then see comments like you're dead.
recently three kids died at my college, in a small boating accident over spring break. for a few days there was a search party and it was uncertain whether they were dead or not. on myspace you were seeing people post stuff like COME BACK MAN and DON'T DIE ON US, it was so chilling and scary, people were so desparate. it was a weird mix of emotions, i thought you could feel the pain and humanity of the dead person's friends even through the superficiality of an online myspace profile (which is unusual, because normally i find real humanity to be the last thing people show of themselves on those sites). it also just struck me as profoundly sad that that is where we go now to mourn our dead.

I have to agree with these comments.
The saddest thing is that so many people have so many regrets about how little time they take for the real things in life, maybe the virtual world is easier because you can switch it on and off at will ( maybe I'm a cynic ).

I'm not afraid of death. I don't see why anybody would be, unless they believe in Hell and think they're going there. But I don't believe in Hell. Even if there was a God, I don't think he would be cruel enough to torture people for eternity as punishment for a finite number of immoral acts. If there's some afterlife that isn't Hell, I would be fascinated to know what it is.
But I suspect there is no afterlife. Most likely when you die you just stop thinking and experiencing things, and I'm not afraid of that either. Why should I be? By the time I'm dead, I won't be able to care that I'm dead, just like I haven't spent the past 15 billion years fretting over the fact that I wasn't born yet. And as long as I'm not dead, I still have the power to achieve happiness, such as by smoking this bowl in front of me...

that site sort of made me realize...i looked through a couple of the dead peoples myspaces..alot of them are flashing money and other materialistic shit like that...and nothing matters to them anymore...no amount of money or nice shoes could bring them back..so you really gotta enjoy life and not worry about stupid shit...maybe if thye traded all that green money for green grass theyd still be here

Haha, thats awesome and so damn TRUE :D
and yea, "you" stop thinking and experiencing things, but all the matter and energy that is "you" right before you die will still be here, released back into the surrounding universe... so that your molecules can kind of, you know, explore it on their own terms. they still undergo sensitivities and reactions with other matter, which is a form of 'experience' on the most basic level i think. in fact, there is probably no REAL difference between that and the kind of experience us living folks are feeling right now.
