FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
Take another hit. Swswswswwwssooooossshh nnnngggttt..
OK..
Hello all,
I am new to this site and am going to attempt my 2nd grow. Which is actually my 1st informed grow..
My first grow was all trial and error. However, I managed to yield a respectable amount for the torture I put them through.
And so, if i did the attachments correctly and have figured out everything.
I will now start my first published Grow for your viewing pleasure.:rasta:

Ok, I bought a 48" cabinet from lowes for 120 bucks.. Its got 2 grow spaces of 22x21x37inches , so roughly 24 cubic feet of grow space. I have a 15" space on top for nutes and supplies. The two Grow spaces Have seperate grow containers. Each holds 3 gallons of water in the reservoir.
The lights for each side are 125 watt Florescent with a reflector, and the other side has a 400watt HPS with ballast. at about $180 and $150.

Need to fix your light leaks dude and your lights are WAY to high lower them and monitor the temperature at the top of the cabinet.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
I still need to get some exhaust fans, so thats the reason for the height on lamps..its just too hot in there. With the doors closed it runs around 100 or more on both sides.. Those lamps run really hot
Anyways, im headed to the hydro store for some nutage and more rocks.
I'll post some more picks later

FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
what is the highest a temperature can get to before its considered way to high, and not healthy for plants?
I seem to be around 88-90.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
I think you want to get that temp down by about 10. Unless you are using CO2.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
cool it down man, you gonna cook those ladys....get an inlet/exhaust system hooked up asap...
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
65 to 75 is the temp range you want to be in. Get those fans or AC going and lower the light like Big Z said. Other than the light leaks they look good and looks like a good setup. We are all here to help. Welcome.

Day 17 from seed and i moved a few of the seedlings to the 400 watts HPS side for 18/6..
These i left on the side with the 125 wt floro.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
these guys I put on the right side with the 400 watt HPS bulb..
Over the last 36 hours they have gotten ugly.
The stems and leaves feel solid and not flimsey. they feel sorta dry though..Maybe humidity is low?
I'm reading this may be a nitrogen deficiency also also looks like a overage of nito too.. the stemes are turning purple or red.
I changed the reservoir and add 2 gallons of water with 4mls of GH grow, mico and bloom each. and thats about 6-7-10 but only a quarter of the strength..
let them suck that up for 2 hours and then took em outta the water incase they are over hydrated.. will leave them outta the water till morning and in dark for 6 hours.. 18/6 cycle
Here are some pics of the sick ones..

:) [B]DAY 18[B]
My babies are looking much better. Following the new water and nutage. Oh and i got the air pump and air stones for the left side rez. Water is very oxygenated.. making plants very happy i think.
I'll post some more in a few

FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
Im not sure if the lights had fried them into that contortion or if it was too much water, but with the new water and small nutages and better airflow in the stones. Also, i took them out of the water for a day or 2 to dry them out a little bit, just to see. and moved them outside the 125 watt door , so they were getting a lower heat and wattage light, and they seemed to respond positively. there are spots on them from deficeincies of the macro nutrients i think , but that will get better with the mixture i have going now..
They are still a little droopy but much better..
Any ideas on what i can do..
Also i wanna get a 1/4 inch plexiglass shield to put between the 400 hps and the plants.

:rasta:
The small one i pinched at the first node. it has finally started to grow at a better pace. All healed up and sprouting 3 from first node... would have happened anyways, but i believe they will become strong colas. maybe wrong.
The taller one i pinched at the 2nd node and it too is finally growing at a better pace. And it too is sprouting 3 things, whatever you call it.tips? Tips.
Still think the roots arent that good as they have not come out the bottom of the pot.

:rasta:
Ok these are also still on the left side 125 w and they are my best at the moment. I didn't pinch these at all nor will I.
The roots are really good and getting really long, and strong.
They are getting some really good bubbles in the water right up close to the roots, which I attribute the good growing too.
I'm on the fifth node on both of those now and will start to veg them soon. probably for week from now until they hit 7-10 inches then sex them.

FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
Day 19 and i have moved this guy back over to 125w on the left side.
I think the 400HPS is just too much for the seedlings, so ill see if the lower heat and lumens give the baby a rest..
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
I have my seedlings under a 150 hps, they seem to be fine.
What Nute mixture do you use?
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
did you fix your cooling problem? heres a set-up built over the weekend, were sitting @ about 73-75 degrees but heats up every now and then, we just click the a/c on and instant 70 degrees.

DAY 27
heres some pics, i should change the water in both rezzes but not sure if i should ad nutes or not.
I'll just post some pics and let you guys tell me what to do hows that..
i have really not felt like doing anything to these guys all week.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
these are my pinched babies.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
im up to like the 6th to 8th node on all of them. By mistake i sprayed the leaves with some water from the rez and the nutes burned the leaves. (last week) pulled those leaves off as they were dead. The lights have been at like 18\6 . and i picked up 2 150 watt incandescents and am using those in addition to the 125 floro.
I think i can move to veg, any ideas?
when can i put these under the 400 wattHPS?
Should i just give them fresh water or add nutes.
They really seem sluggish, but better than my first grow.

The incandescent light specrum will not grow MJ.
Take em back and get some beefy flouro's or get some serious nuggs w/ MH or HPS.

FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
Okay I read a little more lol...
If you have a 400 watt hps veg with that(after they are in seedling stage.
Some of the plants I saw looked ok and some looked horrid. I think your problem is you have too many plants and too many resivours.
I would keep the 4 best looking plants/strains and put them in 5 gal bubblers (w/ a lot of air) and stick them under that HPS.

DAY 28
Ok last night I filled the rezzes with fresh water. no nutage.
Also, i rearranged which plants are on which side. Really I just picked the ones i liked the most and threw 3 of them under the 400HPS..
I am leaving a few ports open for my cloning trials in a few weeks.(not fresh clones but matured clones that have rooted and vegged a week or so)on the right side.
I decided to experiment with LSTing and pulled a few of them over to one side and hook em down.
I capped off my rezz tonight with 1 gallon of nutrient treated water on both sides. so the strength is actually 1/3. I used 5mls of GH grow, micro and bloom each and 30mls of florashield and 2 drops of super thrive.
Ph was around 6.5 and the temp in the cab stays around 70 with the AC on.. I just cant close the door and leave the lights on cause my ventilation really sucks. I should do something about that. but sela
The roots grew alot in the one day i gave them fresh water with no nutes. a few days ago the were slimey and brownish. had algea in tank. cleaned it up and the roots responded great.
Im hoping the little nutes i gave them will give em a boost. ill change the rez again in 3 days and add a full strength regimen. right now i would say they are in veg stage as they have reached there 8th to 10 nodes.
I have the lights high up to get them used to the HPS and to keep heat down. with the LST they shouldnt stretch to much.
The HPS 400watts is set at 19/5 right now, due to my sleep schedule. and the 125 floro is set to 24 on since it doesnt get too hot on that side.
Cant hurt:rasta:
Gimme some feed back guys please.

Roots are looking good. Don't rush the plants though. They still look quite fragile. Personally I probably would've waited another week or 2 before LST. I've seen good results from LST where they are tied over once secondary branching is more established. And then again within the first 2 weeks of 12/12 before the stems become too woody.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
Im no expert for sure but they look overwatered and they def. have some lack of nitrogen. Maybe a little bit of liquid oxygen and some formulex...
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
took out a gallon and added 1 gallon of water with 15 ml of GH micro. 5-0-1 hopefully that works
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
day 30 veg day 2
OK well, after 2 days under the 400 HPS and an extra feeding of N 15ml, they are still droopy. the temp in there is right around 75-80 and the lights arent even close to them.
If im going hudroponically, and the plants are over watered then how do i fix that, besides just removing the water? i dont have an ebb and flow. its a rez
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
DAY 31 veg day 3
getting pissed off. all 3 plants in the front are from the right side with the 400 watts HPS and they are drooping. dont know why, so , i moved them back over to the 125 floro. for a few days
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
even though they are drooping they show no signs of slower growth than the others.
-
FOXBIRD'S First Official Grow
day 33 veg day 5
My plants suddenly turned for the worse today. they are showing signs of magnesium deficiency and also potassium. so i added 1 gallon of water with 5 ml of grow and bloom and 12 ml of micro GH style. its funny because since i left the 3 plants in the right side for 2 days with an extra 15 mls of micro in the rez , they are not showing the same symptoms as the 3 in the back that didnt have the extra 15mls of micro. kinda neet discovery.:rasta:
anyways i looked it up and the problem led to adding some epsom salts in to soil, and since that is magnesium i figured id just put the bloom and grow in too. IM so afraid to over nute my babies that i think i am starving them on accident. but i guess thats better than lock out.
Im actually kinda glad this happened, so that i could accurately diagnose it and watch the healing process. Will probably make the plant stronger

day 35 veg day 7:thumbsup:
Ok well , i went out and bout 2, 3 gallon rubbermaids.
cut some square holes in one and round in the other. hooked up air stones and tubing and bang.
Picked out a few nice guys and have thrown them under the 400 HPS to try this again.
If they freiken droop in a few days im going to shit a cow.
The rubbermaid holds 1 gallon h2o and the air stone are directly under each plant, and they are really kicking out some good bubbles.
Umm, i think i will add 10mls gro and 5 of micro and 3 bloom. into each rez.
I also just took 15mls of diamond necture and put that in 300 ml of water and foliar feed the leaves. gave em a good soaking top and bottom.
Its 330 now , I shut the lights down for now .. Will turn them baCK on in 6 hours .

day 35 part 2 veg day 7
Well, my babies are looking like they are enjoying the light and the nutes i gave them. I sprayed the leaves and that looked like it stopped any further deficiencies.:rasta:
I'll find out in the next day or 2 if they start drooping, that will be a horrible day if they do. Cant figure out why they dont like that side. But nothing bad yet so..
I also LSTed them toget more light at the internodel growth. Which has exploded lately. Another 4-6 inches or another week of veg or so of VEG and i will force flower. I dont wanna get too large before i flower them i do have limited space. But according to my feed schedule i should go 14 more days of VEG. I really think I will only need 1 week. wanna have about 12 inch adolescents. then watch as they explode with less light in anticipation of flower and sexing..
At which time i will finally get to experiment with CLONING. I hope to actually get some males. so i can make room.. really wanna find a mom and revert her back to veg and keep her producing clones. Will give me alot to do.
im very expectant for new learning, and input from you guys on the cloning and also , for my Flowering of the females i keep in the going to bud. Im so excited about this.
Any way check out this internodel growth here in my 7th day of VEG, The stalk and the veins look really strong. Growth is now exploding.
