Smoking Strategies

Okay, so this thread is directed mostly towards people living with parents, or in non-smoking residence, or an situation that involved not being allowed to smoke, so having to hide it is the only option.

My situation -

I smoke with friends on occaison, with them, at their homes, but when I smoke by myself, I wait untill my parents are both asleep (like 10ish when I'm lucky), I chair-block my door, hang a sheet or towel over the top so smoke doesn't drift out, and I basically stand on my bed and hit my water bong while blowing my tokes out the window, which has two openings so the top directly sucks the smoke out. Afterwards, I just leave the window open for a bit and spray febreeze every once in a while.

I can't directly buy anything from a store or the net such as an air purifier or special smokeless device.

I'm just wondering if anybody with a similar situation can provide any techniques or warnings or "that's useless" comments :p :stoned: :thumbsup:

ehhwwww..... blowing smoke out the window is just askin for police probable cause via a conservative neighbor....

instaed put a sheet of fabric softener over a empty paper towl roll and strap it down with a rubber band.

and burn a little incense while you smoke.

No one will know..

this method is tried and true

of course I'd recommend doing this with a widow or air conditioner around so you don't die of carbon monoxide poisoning from the burning incence

yeah, I have smelly candles going sometimes, but I'm not super worried about the neighbours, it's a good area. I know everyone on my street by name. I've tried that paper roll thing before too but it seems too much smoke leaks and I forget it when I'm stoned so much that it's not worth it.

another good thing to have around is a fan. maybe even two fans. whenever i used to smoke in my room i had a fan pointed toward an open window and then another fan on the other side of the room blowing the air in that direction.

i also used the fabric softener over toilet paper roll thing, too and that helps. febreeze and incense are also excellent.

axe is another strong scent that comes in handy because of how overwhelming the smell is.

ok if you are going to give "strategies", make sure they are the right ways. a sploof, doob tube, silencer, what have you, is a paper towel or toilet paper roll with dryer sheets stuffed INSIDE. not one on the outside, as that wont work.

but anyway i am in the same situation, and i usually do not smoke in my room, cause the wind usually blows the smoke back at me if i try to blow it out the window. i usually wait until the parents leave, go out back, and smoke by my grill. or on my deck. depends. i almost never smoke when the parents are home.

I'll definately retry the paper roll then.

I have axe and I use that too.

What kind of smoking device do you use? Joint, Water Bong, Pipe, Vape? Thinking about making a shitty lightbulb vape, I duno if it's worth it, but I know they're way less smelly.

im lucky i dont have to worry about this anymore. i used to be really afraid of my grandparents finding out that i smoked but then after the second time i was caught i just figured fuck it. i smoke in my room now and my grandparents know to knock.. when they dont knock.. if they smell anything or see anything they usually dont mention it. now they say they dont mind me smoking pot as long as i dont drink. i do both either way *shrug*

ps: i know that joints are almost always the smelliest.

lightbulb vapes barely work. not even worth it.
i usually use a bowl when in the room, a bong when in the garage, and a blunt when outside or with friends.

i just clambake my closet, and then when i step out, i close it real fast.

Me and my friends just go to someones house when their parents are gone, when its warm we'll just smoke at the park at midnight (fun as fuck), when I'm alon I wait till no ones home or I'll smoke a joint at the bus stop to school, axe works good, but its probably better just to smoke outside, unless its cold, then toke in a closed space where no one goes, like a crawl space or something.

I pretty much do the same as you. I just blow it out the window, but it depends on say you live in a small neihgborhood like 12 feet distance apart but I live about an acre away from a neighbor.

I also go and chill on my roof and smoke. Look at the stars and have a good time. Altough Ive almost fallen off my roof

STEALTHIEST DEVICE SMOKEWISE IS THE bong or a vap.

due to the altered smell that is less pungent than natural pipe or joint

make sure to pack only enough for a hit at a time to avoid residual unfiltered smoke from the bowl getting into the air


keeping the window closed is safest a police dog can smell weed like a pro pitcher can throw a strike. just dont let yourself be overcome with carbon monoxide...it is truly a killer in large amounts

If you really don't want your parents to know you smoke I'd be careful with the use of incense, axe, febreeze, and all that stuff. Fist off make sure to put it away because although it's not incriminating there is only one thing you'd be using it all for. Also if your room starts to smell strongly of all the cleaning products they'll know something is up too.

I'm just telling you that because although my parents never caught me I once left a fan by my window and my dad walked in the next morning and he instantly knew what was up.

If you want my advice just go outside or wait until your parents arn't home because if you keep it up long enough you're bound to get busted at some point.

A window fan in the window, or a fan that fits in the window blowing outside, if the seal is decent around the fan and window, and the fan is strong enough it will lower the air pressure in your room causing a vaccum, in which air will rush in through cracks in walls, and around your closed door eliminating the need for the towel. Buy some Glade candles also.

I'm pretty much in the same situation, except I've never smoked at home... always at someone elses place or outside. I live way out where my nearest neighbor is half a mile away... Lately I've really been wanting to smoke a bit at home, this thread has really been a help to me too.

During the summer I definately smoke outdoors as much as possible. I live in a little town where there is little-to-no police activity. It's a huge druggy town, but it seems that nobody is ever busted for it unless they bring it to school or grow/sell it. I have a celing fan that I sometimes put on, I'm basically just trying to find a flawless routine to go through after every smoke. It's been working for a few months now no problem, i'm just always looking for ways to eliminate any little bit of paranoia I may have. :p

Lemme tell you one thing, blowing even the smallest smoke with your head sticking out the window will NOT work at all.
Dormmate knew what was up. Couldn't tell if it was cause of the towel under the door (though that's always there) or if he could really smell it.
I even already sprayed just a bit of Right Guard at the window and on myself.
And fairly enough time has passed for the smoke to have escaped.
Yet he STILL knew I was smokin up.
You can't fuckin escape it!

As far as stickin' your head out the window when you exhale smoke, it does indeed work sometimes, but only if the wind is not blowing in on you. It works if there is little to no wind, but you can never depend on mother nature.

Know what works the most? Window fan. I remember going to some kid's house and when I entered his room, I couldn't smell anything. Turns out he smokes cigs and weed everyday and blows the smoke from his comfy chair as the smoke is 'vaccumed' through the window fan.
He smokes with his parents merely only 8 feet away watching tv and they cant smell anything!

i put towels in my door, light insense (my parents know i love insense), spray axe, put up the window fan, and toke with a bowl or home made bong.. then blow it out the fan,

I just keep my cieling fan going and open my window. I have 3 windows in my room and 1 of them is ALWAYS open so my room is always airing out just a little bit. Often I will wait till my parents are asleep, no wait, no I won't. I wait till my mom is asleep cause my dad is an insomniac and will sit in the living room alone at night forever, and I just can't wait for him.

I blow most my tokes out the window, but sometimes I don't even bother. I leave 2 windows open and my fan going all night so isn't going to be any smell in the morning.

I really hate smokin' at night though cause I'll usually get bored and go to sleep. I prefer smoking in the day and doing something. Like one time me and some friends wen't into some woods, pulled some gravitys, then wen't to dunkin' donuts for what seemed like an hour. That was funner than hell.

Go fishing :). or at night go fishing for some catfish :)

i use a paper towell roll with dryer sheets packed in real hardcore. then after i take a hit i put a cd case on top of the bowl so no smoke goes out. and then i hold it in for a while then blow it out into the oversized sploof. i have a window with a fan pointing toawrds it on low. it works so well i can take as hit and blow it out and then mky mom could walk in and not even suspect anything
glade plugins work VERY good.

i used to be in the same boat years ago mate....i would just go for a walk and roll up a doober... of course my town is the type that i could walk down the street without seeing a soul after ten o'clock.

i use a towel under the door, spray mad axe and some scent-eliminator shit i bought. if i have incense i light it. then i have a paper-towel roll with dryer sheets stuffed in it, so i blow out of that. i cant open my window during the winter because it fucks up the heating system. then keep everyone out of your room for about 3 hours. i just did it

The best thing is a Vapo. There is almost no odor at all. The next best thing I think is to make a waterfall bong.

i have a cool unique alone session :rastasmoke: i turn on my shower, or if everyones asleep i dont and i just go into my attic (the door to it is in my bathroom) and smoke it out the window up there. its perfect!

I find stale smoke stinks the most. What i mean by this is smoke that is exhaled into the air and just left there. I've always found blowing all the smoke out of the window worked. Try a jamaican shower also. Or try blowing hits into a pillow or something i dunno.

blowing smoke out a window works about as well as trying to blow smoke out a wall, shit just comes back at you, you may not realize it but thats what happens. I live with two people who smoke cigs and they just stand by the deck door and blow smoke out it but the whole entire kitchen area still smells like stale cigs.

my advice would be to get something smaller and more portable like a glass piece or a onie and just go out on your deck or in your front yard or something, if you think the smell is strong enough for your neighbor to smell or that a police dog is going to randomly smell your shit than your just retarded, the smell from your hit will last about 2-5 seconds with all that fresh air outside and if you see any lights come on in your house you can quickly put the piece in your pocket and make some stupid reason up as to why your outside.

Dont try and smoke inside, you're taking the chance of getting caught, plain and simple

I mainly go outside, but still havent figured out a way to get it off my clothes. You can spray on whatever you would like but shit everytime i go somewhere after smoking people are still like "wait a minute whats that smell....you've been smoking havent you."

Try using a fan with a tall stand. You could also get one of those portable box ones. Then position it to blow out the window. That will move the smoke away from the door quickly and also provide a cover of noise.

For a deodorizer, try a brand marketed as an odor "neutralizer" - Glade or Lysol make these. These are mainstream products, not head shop stuff, but on the label it even specifically says it's designed for smoke odors among other things.

Use lighters that require only pressing down once to ignite - they make a "click" instead of that distinct lighter sound.

A stereo or TV at moderate volume can also cover up sound.

I smoke everyday in my room.

First I smoke out of a porto-bong (thermos and 20ounce bottle). Yes it's cheap but it does the job well and it doesn't raise suspicion- I just sit it in the corner.

My procedure is as followed:
-lock door
-music playing to kill sound
-towel in front of over the crack b/w floor
-set of box fan I sleep with on to blow lightly from behind me towards window
-smoke near window being sure to hold smoke as long as possible or exhaling
only after sticking my head out of my window
-set up a small structure to serve as an elevated platform for my thermos to
sit on so that it's just about level with the window
-keep a can of "odor neutralizer" next to the bong and as I pull it, I hit the
spray a few times.

With the window open and the spray, my folks have walked in right after I pulled it and though they know I used to smoke, never suspect a thing.

You can make it easier by wearing a light jacket or windbreaker while you toke. I use that and a beanie on my head and I usually have a few drags off a cigarette to aid in killing the scent.
