Intresting cheap Fluorescents. Would this work?

Right a few ideas.. Found these lights on a website. The red spectrum (this idea is for flowering only)
There flat so easy to fit around plants..

The 1st idea is to actually cover the plant.. Put the plant through the middle of the collar.. Around large buds..

2nd idea is to place the lights around the walls of my grow so lower buds get more light..

The lights them selfs come in 32, 40 and 60w

There a tenner each..

Like to no what people think? Or if they can think of a better design? Plus has any1 used these lights, would they work?

Wow well thoguth out in your budding! i'd go with the 1st picture with them all in line but what do i know

save your time and money ... those don't have anywhere near the lumens output good grows require .... several 4-ft flourecents can grow good bud, but if you want any good heavy buds, and a good yield, save your money for HPS lamps, veg with flourescents is OK< but you want to bloom with High Pressure Sodiums (HPS) ... :smokin:

THE IMAGE REAPER if you don't grow a ton of plants can you use like one of those 400Watt Souium Bulbs for your one or two plants in an average desk lamp?

Only if the desk lamp has a 400W ballast with an igniter and a large socket

considering the size of a plant, i would say idea #1 may dry the plant out or just overall cook it.. I like the 3rd idea better.. I was thinkin of one lyk #1, but something a little wider to gurantee proper aire flow and light dispersion..

i dont think it would work because if the bud gets too big ya might not be able to get it off if it without snapping the bud and there is also the heat issue too

yeah i took your guys advice i don't haev a strong enough ballest anyway so what i did was went out and got a 150watt CFL which put out anouther 2600 lumens along with the 100watt 1600 lumen light i alraedy have. hopefully tis will be good enough for a 2-3 plants now only thing i need to do it wait and then get a blue spectrum light right to make it grow some buds?

Nope, you want red spectrum light for budding, not blue. It's not the light spectrum that "makes" it begin budding, it's the light duration (actually, the dark duration). Red spectrum light will make bigger, denser buds is all.

Blue for veg, red for flower.

O ok that make s alot more sense then so when you're budding then you don't give as much light like only a few hours compared to the 14-16 hours worth during veg right?

Anything under 5150 is yellow light. Anything over is considered blue. 5150 is the K that the sun is. Yellow breaks down cloroplasts into sugar then starch while blue builds the cloroplasts. Plants need 5.3%red light 36.3%blue and 58.3%yellow. A pure yellow spectrum bulb (besides the 15%red do to the ir coating which insulates the tip) is the low pressure sodium and it is the most efficent light ever made at 200 lumens per watt. People have tryed to flower under them and although it forces plants into flowering faster by breaking down more cloroplasts the plants grow to stringy as they are starved for food. A pure blue spectrum is the xenon bulb.

When I veg I give 24 hour light which is most important with mothers if you want them to last genetically.
