:confused: I have 9, 2 week old plants, a few are looking rather yellow-green. Why do you think that is? I haven't given them any fert and have been watering them every other day. The lights are about 2" away from them. There are 2-100w Cfl's on them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, just give me any suggestions, and let me know what's going on. Please! :stoned: :D :dance:

Water when the first couple of inches are COMPLETELY DRY. Watering every other day with CFL's is way too much, I water about every 3 days with my HPS and I only have to water that often because of the intensity of the light and the heat it puts out.
Water from the top until you get a 20% runoff. Wait about five minutes for all the excess water to collect at the bottom, then chuck the excess. DO NOT USE THE EXCESS WATER AGAIN!
Regardless of the light for healthest growth I would water only enough so that the pots dry out completely every three days. With pleated pots you can soak them everyday and in 24 hours have them dry. Hard to find. I know a lady who makes them in germany but she requires very large orders.

I'm gonna water less. I've killed a few houseplants, by overwatering, but I'm so afraid I won't give them enough water. They are in plastic cups, I try to feel if the cups are light in order to see if they need watered, but I'll do it every third day. They don't sit in their water, it's been draining off. Thanks for the help.
I agree. Over-watering. Even every other day can be too much if the plants arent using the water up. I do the "weight"test. When my containers feel light i water. When they dont, i dont water. It's a fool proof method. You seem to be using a light that isnt that hot. Less heat = less water evaporation/use, which equates into less need for h2o.

Pleated pots have a zig zag accordien like sides giving a elevated surface area to dry out. I dont have a camera. think of a coffe filter, but more rigid with tall acute triangles in between for support

poohcat, put those those babies in bigger pots and some good soil- yer not telling us what kind of dirt yer using.Pretty sure they are wanting nitrogen.Of course you are going to overwater when the container is the size of an egg
Ok, I just bought pretty cheap soil at Kmart that had no fertilizer in it, and haven't added any fertilizer. I did however add perlite to it.. I was trying to find soil w/o fertilizer in it, because I killed some plants with too much fert last time. They are now 2 weeks old, and I was told to start adding fert in 2 more weeks. The containers they are in are about 12 oz. I don't want to transplant them too soon. You think I should do it now? I was waiting to see which ones survived because my grow space is only 3'x3', so I can only have about 3 plants. Should I add nitrogen? I do have bloodmeal, but am afraid I'll kill them!! I could make tea or I could add my liquid fert now, or is it too soon?
