Who do you think the greatest rock band ever is...? (Probably a repeated thread but oh well.)
I would go with The Beatles, they basically set the basis for all Rock & Roll.

Tool.

he was/is the best
well - in no specific order
Beatles
Allman Brothers
Grateful Dead
Neil Young
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World.
It's allways hard to answer these kind of questions...so I won't. But Tool does kick ass.
Nirvana
Chuck Berry invented Rock N' Roll. The Beatles were just highly influential in the technological advancements in music studios.Quote:

Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favorite band of all time, along with ACDC. But I was never a fan of Freebird, I feel it is overrated. I like Simple Man, Whiskey Rock and Roller, and On the Hunt much better. But as far as bands go, I say the best are ACDC, Skynyrd, and Zeppelin.
Oh yeah, forgot about the Rolling Stones, they are definitely on the list
CC to the motha fuckin R creedence clearwater revival !
Pink Floyd. The Cure.:) :stoned: Morrissey!:stoned:
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Hendrix
All great, hard to pick a favorite...
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Foreigner
The Doors
Jimi Hendrix Experience
Neil Young
Phish
The Rolling Stones
I could go on for hours...
the bealtes, pink floyd, hendrix, black sabbath, eric clapton, led zeppelin, the eagles, right now im liking supertramp, not really classic rock but im liking them right now
Considering when Free Bird was released, it was pretty good. Though most long songs are overrated, I still think Stairway to Heaven is much more overrated. In the late 60's most bands weren't just Classic Rock n' Roll bands: they were all psychedealic or some other gimmick, and Skynyrd was a fresh new sound. Though I love Free Bird, I also love songs that showed Skynyrd was more than just Southern rockers like Thing Goin' On, Tuesday's Gone, Blues Medley, and Gimme Three Steps and Call Me The Breeze.Quote:

Ike's Music, His-Story
Ike's contribution of music is quite extensive. Not only has Ike collaborated with many well known artists in the R & B and Blues industry, Ike also contributed his unique styling in Rock & Roll and Hip Hop as well.
Many do not know that Ike's musical influence and prominence predates the duo that brought his musical talent to the limelight. Starting with Sun records and writing the "First Rock & Roll" song "Rocket 88" Ike had established his musical abilities way back to when Elvis was just a kid.
Ike's music has garnered him a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and well as a nomination for a Grammy Award to winning W.C. Handy Awards, "Walk of Fame Star" as well as a" Beal Street Music Note"
VH1 Quote "Ike Turner is one of the Musical legends of the period, and some of his background work in the 60's should be seen a crucial to the development of R&B."
I don't have any specific bands that I would mention as the greatest, but I will say this: "Soft rock" is just as much an oxymoron in music as it is in geology. If it isn't hard enough to be real rock, it's just dirt.
The 13th Floor Elevators
The Doors
The Beatles
Black Sabbath
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Nirvana
Metallica, w/ bassist Cliff Burton
Santana
Obviously Led Zeppelin :)
lynyrd skynyrd, led zeppelin, the beatles, pink floyd, and red hot chili peppers.
Pink Floyd.
My choice is obvious...
Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones
The Beatles
Hendrix
The Doors
Pink Floyd
I wouldn't say they set the basis for Rock N Roll. Chuck Berry did that man. :thumbsup:Quote:

That's just me though. I'd say Led Zeppelin, but after listening to them, I noticed that a lot of their music is quite sloppy.
The Spice Girls! lol:dance:   :D
as for bedakes best punk band.
ramones are good, and set a style
but im all about the Misfits
Pink Floyd
Grateful Dead
PF+GD+weed= tonight:dance:
Alot of old bands popular here and especially alot of old British bands...
I vote for NICKELBACK - current and Canadian so that breaks the mould. They get the meatiest guitar sounds ever!:)
bottom line
Man, picking the greatest band is like, really a hard decision. If I had to choose though...it would have to be Led Zeppelin, followed by the Beatles.
If you said anything other than The Beatles, you're wrong.
Nickelback is one of the worse bands I've ever heard. They've come up with about 1 1/2 chord progressions and melodies that they recycle for EVERY other song they do.Quote:
