Well I was thinking about trying some shrooms and I wanted to know, is there any possible way that when I'm far past gone having a panic attack is there any way I could bring my self to accept whats going on and have a good trip again? I really wanna know because I wouldnt want to have a bad trip on the first time and think I was going to die lol.
Ok, check it out. Hallucinations are just thoughts and images from your subconcious being transmitted to your visual spectrum. The bottom line is that, when you are fully comfterble with the prospect of taking a a substance, you are ready. Until then... there is and always will be the chance of an overwhelming trip. hmmm thats interesting most people would probably say you're right, if you can't handle weed then you'll never be able to handle tripping. But I'm not sure that's necessarily true. I haven't done shrooms, but I have found acid and mescaline to cause much less PARANOIA than pot, despite being much more intense. You may be experiencing things like you never imagined, but you'll be on top of the world and you won't care about shit, you'll feel like you SHOULD be freaked out but you'll just feel calm in the center of everything.
At least it's a possibility, of course bad trips happen but I just wanted to get the other side out there. Strangely enough I have come closer to having a 'bad trip' on pot than on any other (stronger) psychedelic.
I've learned that if you don't think negative thoughts and not try to prevent a bad trip 9 out of 10 times you won't have a bad trip and i you do to accept it and ride it out cuz if you fight it just gets worse. That's just me and every one is a little different.
Well it's almost like my brain has a brain of it's own and that brain is evil lol. I heard about that "not thinking bad thoughts" and I tried that and it doesnt work for me...I mean do you suggest I try some shitty shrooms first and progress by potency? IMO, most (not all, but most) bad trips can be completely negated by excercising a little foresight. If it's your first time and you don't know what to expect than make some plans to make sure everything is taken care of. Have some friends tripping with you or even a sitter, have food if you want it, create a welcoming space where you won't have to worry about cops or weirding out the neighbors. Plan to have some music, or some art supplies like pens or clay. Make sure you have some options of things to do or look at so you don't end up bored. Maybe take a walk somewhere peaceful, and make sure you don't have to drive anywhere.
Take the phone off the hook and commit to your trip.
Maybe eventually you won't need to take all the precautions to trip, since this is your first, just don't have any unfinished business (homework, bills, bad relationship) that could come to mind and trip you out in a negative way.
Listen to your favorite music, go through some personal affirmations and make sure to enjoy the journey.
So after I'm used to shrooms and know what to expect..do you guys think I could take them when I'm not so happy but still might have a pretty good trip?
Your experience will be mainly dictated by your setting. If you're comfortable chances are you will have a good time, even if you felt like shit before.
If you want a bad trip, just hang out with people you don't trust, in a place you don't know with lots of loud noises. A stressed person with a tendancy to freak out is not suited for hallucinagens.
Heh as far as "accepting" the trip that can actually help a lot. Just relax and don't fight the experience. :) I learned that on salvia.
The beauty of this is that it can apply in normal day to day life.
Ive never had a bad trip with mushrooms... And it alll depends on what kind of sutuation your in while tripping. I've had a horrible trip on DXM, cuz i was caught while i was on it one time...(couldint respond when my dad was yelling at me) But it was my own fault, and i put myself in a risky situation.
So as long as your at peace with your emotions, and put yourself in a fool proof tripping enviroment, you should be good.
Also make sure you have alot of things you enjoy, whether it be your favorite munchies, music or games... make sure you have something you really like while tripping, it will help your good mindset, and you will have a blast.
Im glad ive never had a bad trip with mushies, they are too nice to me.

my friends did it one night. their first time. after a few hours, the music in one friend's head turned into panterra. they should've listened to real music, but the other friend is way too paranoid that his parents are gonna come up. the friend listening to panterra started to try to pull his hair out (never did) and ruined the trip for the other friend.
SO:
-make a play list of happy music before hand, just to make sure NOTHING else plays.
-as much light as possible to fill the room. it cant be dark anywhere. close the closets.
-shut the blinds
get some pizza with a topping, but nothing that is spicy. preferably veggies. dont eat if you arent hungry.
i`ve tripped literaly hundreds of times over a 10 year period most i`m glad to say were good trips but inevitably there were a few shockin nights . i`ve taken both shrooms and acid in large doses, shrooms being the most....adventurous shall we say(i was able to sit in my parents company while on acid, provided I came up in their company that is) but mushrooms ...no chance. They`ll pick you up an throw you around make you want to stand up , sit down , lie down, jacket off ,jacket on, roll a spliff , fill a pipe instead an generally talk the biggest load of shite that you`ve ever heard , and you MUST talk this shite , if you think it and don`t say it then it doesn`t leave your head, nope it fuckin stays there an amplifies itself an clouds all the other mental things you have to get off your chest until there`s a backlog of shite in your head that is all being held up by that first lot of shite that you thought of, and in the meantime , your not talkin at all , then you realise you`ve not said a word for what seems like ages and all the backlog of shite disappears leaving you with only one train of thought, " i haven`t spoke for ages...fuck, naw, aw whit, am cold" hahahaha. Sorry back to the point . Don`t go with the( don`t think bad thoughts theory) the fact that your already thinkin them is a pretty good indication that you`ll be thinkin them on the night. I went into all my trips with an open heart an mind an generally didn`t give a shit. If you aren`t in this frame of mind then try alchohol, I found this to be a good way of "not givin a shit" it dulls down the intensity of your trip but without dullin down the hallucinations. But if you want the full effect an are still wary then I suggest you get yourself some valium or temazepam or similar an drop them if the trip becomes to heavy for you. i think maybe you should start out with something a little shorter lasting like salvia. get some 10x and if you can handel that then i think you will be ok. but as always have fun. you have experience life man every way you can.
You just gotta let go man, like the moments before finally dropping off to sleep, there's a point when you accept that you're losing awareness of your surroundings, and just drift away. I've never had a bad trip last the entirety of the trip, they've always usually been just a tense period, when I come to certain realizations that I can't seem to prove wrong, but didn't want to accept (in other words, I was thinking waaaaaaaay to much, and babbling on in my head). Bringing my inner monologue in to a very intense trip has usually fucked it up for me, simply cuz the words don't mean nothing no more, just a bunch of sounds I have to describe objects, and you usually make ure own trouble, by coming up with ure own stupid thoughts, and ill conceived conclusions. They're usually the best times in retrospect, all hunched over in a ball, sweating balls, face as white as a sheet in a vicious thoughtloop you think will never end, I mean fuuuuuuuck man, in 'reality' ure sitting on a chair, but in reality you are dealing with some seriously fucked up shit, fearful of obliteration, but like I said you're sitting on a chair, if you can see the funny side of this you can handle the most intense of mindfucks, cuz you will always come out of it, and then see ureself sitting on a chair, covered in sweat like you've been trying to fight some fucker off or something. Tripping aint all about good times, tripping for me is one of the best experiences I can have, cuz I can be taken to the fuckin peak of ecstatic bliss with appreciation at the complexity of that which is around me, or slammed at high velocity in to a series of free falls, by again the same complexity which I can't seem to grasp, but everytime you just let go fully, which can take some getting used to, you are melting away in whatever will take your fancy at that time, whether it be being eating alive by demons, or the most intensely pulsating, holy shit this defies words!, type thing.
But again man I'm talkin about the intense as fuck trips, when all ure senses blend and shit, if you're takin them in a light dosage, which increases ure appreciation for sounds and colours, then you should just be deliriously happy with ure surroundings, the only reason the comfortable setting is important is because, while ure freaking out and thinking that ure gonna die soon or w/e, its good to look around and reassure ureself that whatevers goin on behind ure eyes, however real it may feel, will not effect ure body in any way, and you will come down, i'm not surprised ppl have bad trips when they have to deal with problems in the real world while tripping (like police, or worrying about where a mates got to etc.etc.), that shit pisses me off enough when I'm stoned, now I'm seeing music. Archeen summed up an intense trip pretty well, pissed myself reading that post.
I'm looking to try shrooms for the first time maybe soon..any advice? How much should I take, etc?
dont do them alone (you can if you want but its not as good as with people)
dont do them if you are tired (you might fall asleep before the real effects kick in)
I've never tried mushrooms b4, althought I'd like to. But I know from experience from tripping off lighter gas. Sure they're different things but some people actually trip off gas. I do when I huff a large amount and from that I know that if you're anxious, then it really ain't a good idea. You need to be in a good frame of mind. Trippin' with people you trust is reassuring and if you do have a bad trip they should be able to help you out. The only thing is, with gas huffing, once you start trippin', it wears off real quick. Whenever I'm in a anxious mood and tried gas I had quite a few freaky trips. One or two of them scared me shitless! lol. If I'm anxious on gas I tend to believe whatever my mind tells me to unless I'm somehow expecting it, but my bad trips have nearly always taken me by surprise.
I reckon workin ur way up with tolerance at a speed u find suitable would be best but dat's up to u dude.

Bottom line is you won't know until you try. If it was a bad trip try again, and again and again and again until you're comfortable with the bad trips, then they're not bad anymore. See?
If you really want to be sure you don't have a bad trip just do it with some friends around or get some to do it with you (Aren't I a role model?) that way you know you're not alone bla bla bla.
Excellent advice. When I tripped on shrooms, I started to get this heavy feeling, almost guilt, when I thought about having to work the next day. It was like high pressure stress on me when I thought about it.Quote:

Man, it's all in your head. Everything around you is not real and nothing can hurt you. Mushrooms are great because they are so peaceful and free. Your mind has no barriers and your just having a great time. I have tripped about 10 times on mushrooms and 5 on acid and have never once had anywhere near a bad trip. Tripping is just amazing. You should not do them simply because you are worried about having a bad trip. If you really can't handle weed I would not do them but if you have gotten over that I would deff eat them. Just start small maybe 1.5-2.5 grams depending on how good they are. My final suggestion would be to have good chill music ready. My favorites are the Doors, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, Phish, Peter Tosh, and some Marley. I would stay away from rap. I always find it is a downer and makes me not so chill when I'm tripping.
