Hey guys, I would like to get a final and official answer (If possible :smokin: ) :
My setup:
- Very large flowering room (24 X 18).
- 3 1000W HPS lamps
- Growing in soil
1 - How many plants under a 1000W HPS would give the maximum yield ?
2 â?? What would have to be the size of each pots/plants so that it all fits ?
3 â?? Should I separate the 3 lamps from one another or keep them close to one another ?
4 â?? Should I use those tracks setup that I heard about ?

4: Use whatever setup you feel comfortable with.
If you want best bud best yield with those lights you are a fool to not invest in a good Hydroponics kit or build your own if you know how.

Question 2: One gallon pots, 12 inch high single cola plants, 7.5 square inches per plant.
Question 3: I would just overlap the secondary light space.
Question 4: I would recommend tracks, yes. They do not slow flowering and disperse the light evenly. I recommend the parobolic shades with bulbs that hang straight down.
Question 1:
Well think of it this way. A 1000 watt light (merc. not recommended do to effiecency multivapors rock) will cover a 8 foot by 8 foot area with primary light and 9 by 9 with secondary light. With a track you can cover say 13 by 9 with secondary light. You will need to rotate your plants but its worth it. I throw them into bud at 4 to 5 inches and super crop (exercise) the stems so they produce a single cola that takes up 7.5 sq inches and is 12 inches high. Dry wieght is average 7.5 grams per plant. So if we take 13 feet and divide it by 7.5 inches (perpetual harvesting will increase the number by 20%) and we get 20.8 sites. Lets call it 20. Then we take 9 feet and divide by 7.5 inches and we get 14.4 so well call it 14. 14 times 20 = 280 plants at 7.5 grams each. Thats 2100 grams or 4.6 pounds. If you sell quaters for 100 bucks which is street value thats 28000 every two months per 1000 watt. I run the parobolic hoods and like them better then anything. My old room was 2000 watts on tracks and 22 feet by 9.5 feet for the bud room. Its alot of work and your going to need to sleep on your stomach so your back retains it natural curve at the lower spine(youll see) but its so much fun. I would work in my old room all day every day. So think 28000 every 65 days and that 157,000 a year if you set up a delivery serve minus 15 to 20 an hour to pay your workers. (pond liner make that puppy air tight) One MH one HPS and a garden sprayer and youll be rocken in no time. For my setup 30 mothers at two feet was fine. I do not have pictures still and or the setup at this time or I would not have time to be on the site to the extent I am now. (long personal story)

I do not have the money to get a hydro kit just now and I want to get some hands down experience before going hydro.
As far as the track system, I will start with just a regular setup and will move on into more advanced setup as I go along.
So tell me if this is right:
1 â?? Each 1000W will cover a 5x5 feet space so the total growing space will be : 15 x 5 feet.
2 â?? I will use 1 gallon pots for the entire flowering process. (Iâ??m using clones)
Questions:
1 â?? What size are 1 gallon pots and how many can I fit in each 5 x 5 feet space ?
2 â?? Considering we have a tall ceiling, how tall should my clones be when I switch to a 12/12 light cycle ?

9 plants in 7 gallon pots/bags for 1k light in a 5 x 5 ft area. You should be able to harvest 4 ounces per plant with the right conditions. Veg plants to about 2 feet tall.
Smaller plants are fine but I would rather be caught with lower plant counts.
I doesn´t matter howmuch plants you have... I would use a minumum of 4 plants under the 1000W. nomatter howmany plants, calculate 1gramm per Watt as your goal it´s absolutely possible.

I've been an outdoor grower for a couple years and I would always top my plants twice per season before they start flowering. When should I top my plants before putting them in a 12/12 light cycle ? Would toping them while in the 12/12 damage them or slow their growth ?
so if I'm getting what you are all saying, it does not matter how many plants I have under each lamps as long as I maximise the space, the yield should be similar ... (1 gramm per watts):thumbsup:
I have aboout 20, 1 1/2 foot plantsunder my 1000 watter.
I'm confused Karaxul said a 1000 watt light covers 8 x 8 feet and now your saying 5x5 feet ...which is it.I don't really care personnally but your confusing ppl.
I dont know anymore, the guy at the hydro shop told me a 1000W covered a 5 x 5 space. If it's more great but I personally dont know anymore :confused:
Maybe it depends on the type of shades you use ???? What kind should I get to cover a bigger space ?
I use one 1000 watt hps. I use 1 gallon containers and use clones. I put 35-39 clones under light. I aslo use reflective material. This time i did 39. I average just over 2 lbs of bud every 2.5 months. The leaf and smaller buds i use in my icewater bags to make hash.

Less plants doesn't mean less yield. It's the amount of light that is important. I always grew 24 plants in one cabinette on 2x 600Watt and I yielded 1050grams dry.. I changed too 6 plants on 2x 600Watt and I'm getting as much and even more, my record on 6 plants stand on 1254 grams
OK britewire, you are confirming my first idea ; less plant with bigger ones will give a better yield than that SOG technique â?¦ Plus it a lot less work! I will be doing the same as you are doing.Quote:

A simple and cheep hydro is the two bucket system. hydro will be quicker and the yeilds are the same if not more.
I would divde the room into 3 8*8 rooms and have 6 plants under each.
Have as many fans as possible, inlet, oscilators and exhaust.
4 soil put 6 of the biggest tubs you can get into an 8*8 space. the more foot room the better.
Also dont tip the plants but bend them gently every couple of days for the the first 10 - 12
Place about 6 plants under your light in a 10 or 15liter pot. I would start out with taking about 12 plants and let them grow about a week in small pots. When you´ve made a decision witch plants do best and look healthiest (darkgreen) choose 6 plants that you want to place in the big 10 too 15 liter pots. Give the big pots some AdvancedNutrients Pirahna a week before placing the plants in their. You´ll get some good fungi in there that forms a biotoop with the plant.
Place a bin underneath the pots, cause after a couple of days you want to give them their nutrients and water from the binn under the pot. The roots wil find the water eventually.
Do a 3 week veg (18-6) and start on 12-12 after that with some guano tea and pk13-14..
