How bout Japan? Their not a state and was rebuilt to be a world economic power.
Iraq? They elected their own Parliment and are awarding the dreaded oil contracts to Norwegian and Canadian firms.
Every damn time we do these things we go deeper in debt with no payback and no extra lands in the name of the U.S. So where is the so called greed and domination?:smokin:
Germany- Occupied- How many military installations? over 100 I am sure
Japan- Occupied- How many installations there? I am not sure. But I was stationed on Okinawa in the Marine Corps and there are 10 marine bases and 1 huge air force base on a island that is not even a 100 miles long.
Iraq- Soon to be occupied as soon as America can get it under control.
Under that logic wouldn't we be considered "occupied" by the United Nations?Quote:

LOL...Don't know if that's a good thing or not. Have to appologize for the comment though. Just got out of jail last week and still a bit on edge. At 43 it was a bitch being surrounded by 19-25 year olds. Don't get me wrong, reminded me a lot of myself back then but times have changed and so have I.Quote:

Really though, I don't see american politics being about greed and domination. I see it as a road to immortality. All these lifers in senate and the house could probably make bigger bucks in the private sector but history would forget them. The huge ego base wants their names printed in history books for generations to see.
Hey Psycho...nice to see you out and about again. Now on to the discussion. I do think it's a matter of greed and avarice. Most of these lifers could not make more money in the private sector for two reasons. First, they are just not that talented and second, in the private sector there is a degree of accountability (unless you're Kenny Lay) that doesn't exist in politics. Most politicians do not get in trouble for their stupid and even inept political decisions but rather their attempts to subsidize their incomes by selling favors. (as in the guy in CA that was recently nailed for his bribery menu and of course, our old bud Delay) Even when they do get nailed for other crimes, they get off with little more than a slap on the hand. (the jackass in SD, name escapes me, who lost the murder rap but was out in six months and got his law license back, and of course, slick willy) Then there are the spiffy pensions that are set aside for our legislators that, unlike the private sector, will always be guaranteed no matter how high the taxes must be hiked to pay for them. You're right that ego also plays a part for these pricks and I for one would like to see every last Kennedy, and Thrumond, and etc etc ousted for good and replaced by real people, not lawyers, judges and lobbyists..oh my!! Real people who have a clue what it's like to live from paycheck to paycheck or small business folks who know what it's like to forgo increased profits for the sake of keeping good employees or seeing more taxes and fees imposed. Term limits that are carved in stone and only allow for one or two terms and then, get out and don't ever come back. Taking the profit out of politics would go a long way towards fixing this countries ills. BTW, haven't smoked weed since mid Jan. since I'm job hunting, as you know, so I feel your pain, so to speak, on that issue. Maybe a little more so since I got it, but can't do anything but look at it.
