I don't know if you all are following the '06 Campaign for Governer, but Kinky Friedman is my choice. I like his music too.
What do you think? Kinky in '06:thumbsup:

But don't vote in the primary that coming up, and sign his petition to put his name on the ballot. Screwed up rule, ain't it.
Good Point 56. He is for the legalization of Medical Marijuana....I'm sure he'd be up for full decriminalization, but hey, we've got to take one step at a time. He'll I don't know if he's joking or not, but he said he was going to appoint Willie Nelson to run the Texas Rangers.........Wow! If we could get every Stoner out to vote Kinky would win.:dance:Quote:

The last time anyone contacted me was someone from the Gary Hart presidential campaign....then there was this boat issue.........speed boat, hot young girl, BIG MOUTH politician who dared the media to spy on him..........man, did THAT go up in flames!!!!
I have heard of petitions going around, but never have actually known anyone who signed one for Kinky.
Do you guys think he's just a whack job who people find funny, but don't take seriously? Or does he actually have some clue on issues such as funding education, securing the border, protecting the gulf ports, improving the infrastructure of the state, etc? I really haven't heard him speak much on serious subjects, just being a good old boy, smoking a big cigar, who is very funny.
Have a great day!
Onward!
Onward, This is a guy just like us.....he made a good life for himself and I think he wants to give something back......that he believes in.Quote:

Kinky was never Big Time in the music world, but he has also published some very successful novels. I really like his music, but have not yet read one of his novels.
Just my thoughts.
h
his novels are pretty funny
I'll definitely vote for him.
Because so few people in Texas actually vote (25-35% is considered exceptional voter turnout), if all the "independent" voters turn out for him, he could really have a good chance at winning...
If he does win, the big problem is that, in Texas, the Governor has about as much constitutional power as a bag of Cheetos. The Lieutenant Gov is actually substantially more powerful. The Lt Governor is elected independently of the Governor, and does not answer to him. Also, the Lt Governor presides over the legislature - he and the Speaker of the House can make life very difficult for any Governor that tries to push through "radical" legislation that steps on too many toes...
Good Point. It would be a good moral victory for us.:rasta:Quote:

If you voted in the primary that ends March 7, you can't sign his petition. But go ahead and sign Strayhorn's. ;)

This is the only guy that comes close to representing what we stand for. If you want to further the cause and do something about bringing forth the legalization of Marijuana this is your chance.
Howdy Y'all,
The link for Kinky's site is :http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/index.html
I'm a registered republican, but I'm ready to sign Kinky's petition and kick Perry to the curb.
Govenor Perry, vetoed the 2 bills we have here in Texas, one for medical need defense and one for decrim, both of which, would have kept me out of the court. I have no idea what's gonna happen to me yet,my trial is set for April 6,I told the judge that I have no choice but to plead not guilty,so that I could git a court-appointed attorney to negotiate the terms of my punishment,as it relates to my disability.
Maybe my troubles are a sign that I need to git off my ass and start doing something to git them 2 bills passed and work on forcing Texas to be compassionate towards those who would benefit from medical marijuana,as well as decriming marijuana for those who want a safer alternative to alcohol.
I checked out the county group listings and the closest to me is in Parker county, maybe I should see about starting one here in Palo Pinto county, although, with my long hair and beard,it may make folks think that we're the 'hippy' party..lol.
I also like the idea of promotining biodiesel and other renewable energy resources, even tho I'm a former roughneck,I would like to see hemp worked into the equation eventually. I know that I probably won't like Kinky's view on gays, but I could try and abide with that. I just know that I'm ready to upset the good ol boy network, especially here, that gives out longer sentences for non-violent marijuana users, than they do to murderers and rapists.
What do y'all say-think we can make a difference ?
Have a good one ! :stoned:
Amen Torog!
I'm with ya bro!!
Kinky has my vote for sure, I was watching fox last night after the storm and they said he just may become the next independant governer. So far looking good

It's time to kick Perry to the curb,he vetoed the medical need defense bill that we have, and the decrim bill too. The link for more info on the 2 bills is: http://www.mpp.org/TX .
There's also another group working on legalizing medical marijuana and the link for them is: http://www.texansformedicalmarijuana.org/
I hope that you find these links helpful and informative.
Have a good one ! :stoned:
Well thank you torog, :)
Glad to be here. Im out by wise county and it says they collect votes out in
decatur so thats great! Yeah i agree Rick perry hasent done much for governer. To think of all the taxes we could save by decrimilization.

Thanks for the update Sauce, just got on the net, my next stop was Kinky's site. He is going to surprise a lot of people come Nov.
Im definately a Kinky supporter even though Im only 17...Im actually starting to think that he has a significant chance in this upcoming election...Hes becoming popular with people from several sides...so hopefully he makes it
BTW...I turn 18 two months before the election and plan to cast my first ever vote for Kinky...
I guess ya'll can see where I stand on the matter.his website rules.everybody need's a little kinky.stoner's for kinky,ThcBuz
wooooot go kinky....im for kinky all the way
I collected signatures for Strayhorn, she is ok. I like kinky too. I have been to Strayhorn rallies, she is from Austin and is the current comptroller of our state. She is also an EX-republican, though I dont think she will be screaming "legalize it" any time soon. Im just tired of that douch bag perry.. dont get me wrong, I generally tend to vote republican but Im really tired of that guy.
If it helps any, Strayhorn is against government involvement in anything other than the bare essentials and she has been a teacher in the Austin area most of her life. She has good ethics and morals.. would be a pleasent change from the current situation.
My vote is going to whichever of the two is closer to beating perry on d-day.
Do you think she would be willing to even take a look at bills for lowering the penaltys or a medicinal marijuana law? Perry dident even care to take a peak he just vetoed both billsQuote:

She carries more weight than kinky right now as she is drawing heavily off the republican crowd who are sick and f'n tired of perrys B.S.
She sounded pretty liberal when she gave her speech.. I was a little afraid to ask about her policy thieory on gun control but was plesently suprised by her response that gun control meant enforcing the laws already on the books not making new ones and that individual liberty is key in TX.
Hard to tell which way she will go. I have her sons phone number (a.k.a. her campaign manager), I could call him and ask if you guys really want to know.
Please do, It would be intresting to know her views on medicinal marijuana laws. Mabye you can convince them!Quote:
