Stressing question.

hey everyone.

Im pretty positive now that stress was the main factor of our towns major seed income in the past 2 weeks.

About a month ago on a sunday, the whole towns power had went out because of electrical generator breaking down. I think that all the lights that went out in the town that peeps were usin to grow MJ had there plants majorly stressed and in wich case stressed them far enough to hermie.

The power outage was out for a total of 9 hours, so I guess it could be taken in that 9 hours in the approximate time to leave your lights off of your plant to stress them. Although it could be that im really high and this makes no sense.:rasta:

They should not have hermied just got female stress seeds. Ill buy them from you if you want to hook it up. [email protected]

Stress can cause a female to produce stress seeds if stressed at the time miosis is begining.

Ok, that's what I wanted to know.

From what I read, I thought that feminized seeds where:

1- FEMALE PLANT
2- HERMI PLANT
3- Pollen from hermi, pollinate the female.
4- all seeds are "feminized".

I don't know if this is right or wrong... but you seem like a pretty good information source!

Just curious to know how they do the feminized seeds.

Hey there karma, the strain as Im told is Lemon Hashplant. The bud did have a lemon and a hard resin smell like hashplant. I have a total of 40 seeds and toss me a price and tell me what you think is fair.

I do know how to ship safely, and I can get my hands on more if wanted.

Turtle 420: you are correct in the method that you describe for making feminised seeds.

karmaxul sorry dude thats wrong, many people don't like feminised seeds because they have a higher tendancy than usual to turn hermie due to the way they are created..
The "stress seeds" that you speak of are merely a product of the plant turning hermie!

If a single episode of 9 hours light disruption causes that much stress in a plant, how do they ever survive in a world of overcast, foggy, and otherwise not-direct-sunlit days?

None of my plants have ever been hermie. All of my seeds have always been female. Thousands of plants and thousands of seeds. I only got them when I stressed the light cycle. Was I just lucky?

How do you know there wasnt one tiny male flower somewhere on your plant, self pollenating some of the buds? you cant ever be sure.

This is from the overgrow FAQ on feminised seed production:

How can I get my plants to produce femenized seeds?

There are two methods that I am familiar with; Light-Poisoning, and Gibberellic Acid Treatment, both forcing female plants to produce male flowers and pollinate themselves. I have employed both methods, and both have yielded satisfactory results.

NOTE: YOU MUST START WITH FEMALE SEEDS/CLONES TO ENSURE THAT THERE WILL BE NO MALE CHROMOSOMES PRESENT.

# LIGHT-POISONING METHOD: During the first three weeks of flowering, turn the lights on for an hour during the middle of the dark period. That is, 12 hrs. on, 5.5 hrs. off, 1 hr. on, 5.5 hrs. off, and repeat for the first 3 weeks, after which you may return to the normal 12/12 light cycle. This causes a plant to go "hermie" and pollinate itself, as well as any other female in the room. You must use plants originating only from female seeds or clones to ensure that no male chromosomes are present. The resulting seeds will produce NO MALE PLANTS!


# GIBBERELLIC ACID TREATMENT: Select your favorite female plant and spray it from approx. two feet away (first under the leaves, then on top). This must be done 2 weeks before the plant is put into the flowering light cycle, thus the need to start with female seeds/clones. DO NOT SMOKE BUD TREATED WITH GIBBERELLIC ACID! Spray the plant again after 2 weeks have passed, and place it under 12/12 lighting. This plant will "hermie" and pollinate itself and other females present. It will not produce as much pollen as a pure male, thus less seeds. However, these seeds will be 100% female.



CONCLUSION:
Now, femenized seeds have also been known to produce hermaphrodites. This is just an evolutionary safety precaution to ensure the survival of the species in the event of environmental catastrophe. All seeds have the potential to hermie. Variables such as pH levels, lighting scenarios, fertilizer problems, etc. will also be factors in the outcome of the plant's sex. Just keep 'em healthy, and give them your tender, loving care, and you should be fine.

Its not a thread its from the FAQ - I treat most things from that FAQ with more integrity than some of the heresay I hear from certain people.

So where as the guy from overgrow stresses his plant by giving it an awkward light cycle, his plant hermies and he gets fem seeds.

You stress your plant and it doesnt hermie but you get fem seeds...

Something doesnt add up here...
