stretching .
bump i got first post lol
if u have more then 3cm btwee each set of leaves as in more then 3cm of stenm btween the leaf sets and its a seedling then it is stretching u need more light
What light is it?
How far away from plants....
I use a 25 watt fluoro for seedlings and get 6 inch plants with 6 sets of leaves all under 1 cm apart...It's that easy
how do u germate
well the lights are 100watt i dont know what kind but its a round bulb
i went every where to find a HPS fixture and no one sells them in my town so i will buy some on the net
anybody know some cheap place to get them on the net?
ROUND BULB!!!!! You mean ...an incandescant "normal light bulb"
Take it outside and smash it man.....Get a CFL It's a cheap bulb that doesn't need a "Ballast " like other light types....They are sold as "energy savers" and will fit into a normal light socket....CFL means Compact Fluorescent Light ...That will nurish a young plant for weeks ...But you MUST invest in some a HID lamp....HPS will cover every aspect of the grow...400 watt minimum [ IMO] but a 250 watt is ok for small cabinets...
If you by a 100 watt CFL your plants will look like a profesional's plants...But not for long.........HID!!!!!!!

Those regular bulbs, the plant only take in about 4% of the light, making the rest wasted a pointless.
Get a CFL bulbs. They are those spiral like bulbs. Do it quick or it will just keep on stretching.
theres a ad on these boards, www.insidesun.com it has some really nice deals on HPS set ups,
like for a 400w set up Econ value well cost you
$102.50 (witch Chains added on) (Shipping not included in price)
but i would go with the 1000W (witch is the best value for any one)
$212.50 (witch Chains added on) (Shipping not included in price)
ok thank you for that i tried to locate some HPS today and nobody in my town sells the ballast, and 75w bulbs are all they sell...shit
i will order some on next payday fuking expensive...
for now i am off to the store to buy CFLs will 100w do me or what?
Yeh 100 watt is fine for the seedlings...keep it nice and close to the plant though...
ok just got 145w cfl how much should i use for vegatation, i will try to save up for a metal halide light for flowering, about how much time do i have until i should start flowering
Woahh!!!....Hang on buddy....HPS for flowering not Halide .. That's High Pressure Sodium by the way!
Halides are for veg' phase...You can use either HPs or MH for either phase and with good success....However for best results flower with an HPS and veg with an MH!
But that CFL should be powerfull enough to veg a plant for a long time...Howver I don't think it will cover much area with strong enough light to raise more then 1 or 2 plants!
My opiniun ofcourse and you are free to do what you like>>>>
sweet ok its been a couple of days and its quit streching and bushed out like crazy and added like 6 sets of 3leaves
also can i use cool white flur. tubes and if what wat can i use
i just germanated a lot of seeds because last time i only got 1 plant i germanated 14 seeds and they all died
ya on the other i meant MH for veg. sry
Actually, metal halide will bring a taller plant, which is why growers prefer it for vegetative stage. HPS, a warmer yellowed light makes short fat plants so it is preferred for the flower stage. For those fat buds you need the HPS, as Metal will make long thin ones.Quote:

Also using a HPS on top, CFL with UV on sides will produce an incredible grow. MH may be substituted or added on top/sides.

I have used an HPS for veg' phase and found the plants to relish such light...
However ..I've also read of grows were Halide lamps were used to veg plants and the results were incledibley short, dense plants with vigorous foliar growth and minimum internodal distance [The strain I read of was SS Chronic].
Fluoros in the cool white and warm white spectrum are fine [ as with HPS and MH, the combination of the two is optimal]..Tube fluoros in my opinion are superior to the CFL's because they will distribute light more evenly over the grow room, therefore plants will be more likely to grow at the same rate.
CFL's are more intense [Per square foot] . Therefore MANY CFL's even spaced will light the veg room with higher intensity light [compared to tubes]..
So they key is ...if you decide to use CFL's...buy many smaller wattage bulbs and spread them out evenly over the grow room..[or buy many larger wattage bulbs and spread them out if you can AFFORD it]...Or use tubes of the same wattage that will distribute light all th way along their length...
But I'd seriously consider a 250 to 400 watt MH [which a hint of orange in its spectrum] to veg your plants. Sylvania is one manafacturer that comes recomended.
For flowering , I'd go 400 watt HPS with a touch of blue in it's arsenal.
All just my opinion and I don't consider myself an expert by any stretch!:)
Easy to see so don't worry about it, get the ultraviolet and enjoy more. Live and learn, plant to survive.Quote:

my baby is now more bushier then ever... 3 rows of 3-9 leaves
can u give me a time frame on how long i have to keep 24/0 up and when do i start vegd. and for how long?
and really about the black lights i have a couple of those laying around
do i use it for flowering or vegd. or both?
how old does the plant have to be before i can clone it and what is the watts i should use for the clones( i will be useing a hydroponic type grow for clones until they get roots
do i have enough light?
Damn lot of stuff there longtimeuser.
Look, cutting clones is a whole lesson. What kind of hydro setup do you have? Seeds can be done in so many ways. If you are going dirt you can just put them in a peat disk, Wet paper towels in a warm place, and when they pop you put them in the grow medium.
The lights you have are only for the beginning. You really need at least 250 to 600w HPS to get your flowers. If you use the fluorescent you will take so long to get the skinniest flowers (but you can do it).
Watts are how much you will pay for electricity. You can get a great crop with a 400watt, but 600 is brighter than sun or equal.
Here is a sort of schedule for you. From clone or where you are now you go for 2 to 4 weeks of plant growth, then switch to 12 on 12 off for lights. Count the days of flowering from the first days you can identify the flowers (not just preflower but a real bud site). Then count your days. If you want really good stuff you have to wait longer. Most plants will take 80 days of flower for full maturity. Almost no one waits more than 60 days. But the fat buds and amber resin of a fully matured bud. Yummy.
Those black lights come on for flowers. Think altitude and closer to the sun and the Hindu Kush and why the resins just flow out of the plant. More UV. So a nice 600w HPS (sodium not halide) and a black light on each side would give you a very wide spectrum. The black lights can get very close, the HPS at least 60cm away from plant matter.
you do know theres a feature in this board called Search... presonally i think people need to inforce that... this Board has so many repeated infomation it's crazy
Yeah, search is a good thing, but so many do not use it. Repeating information does not hurt that much. There is a whole grow section they should go to first. Maybe they want to socialize at the same time?
I always fall into it cause I love growing so much any question is interesting, any answer more information. You and I have bigger problems, how to see that Emery show on tonight! I thought cable always brought the big national networks as basic? I am in Europe so it is impossible to watch unless someone makes a file... hint to anyone who can do 60 minutes interview with Marc Emery tonight??????
Please don't remind me :( i can't view that fucking 60 mins show
i dont think i can get hps right now maybe later the lights i have now,can i go 12/12
i like the interaction of these threads i like being able to talk about my plant with other enthusiasic growers

Shouldnt this be in the cultivation section?
Why do you want to clone it? How many clones d'you want?? From a juvenile plant...You could top it and clone the top to live again.Quote:

well day 13 and i made my my first clippings i have 3 tiers and am about to top now i am starting to see yellow spots on a couple of leaves that i didnt cut...
help?

The yellowing problem could be due to low nitrogen ..Are you growing in dirt or hydro....What soil are you using ..pH is so important in nutriant uptake!
Gotta know this stuff in advance
sorry ok this is what i am useing> M.G.slow release formula
, superthrive nuts. 165 watts cfl
and i thought it is too young also but i was told i could prune for a bush instead of a tree
i will top my plant in a couple of days how should i start to grow the top of the plant
