Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
I was just wondering if anybody has ever taken a drug that really took them out of this world, like the song or like an Alice in Wonderland type thing, if you have can you tell me what drug, how much, and describe the trip.
I think DMT might be something like that.

well seeing how Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is about LSD
you about a nice dose of LSD???
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds actually is not about LSD
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Sure it isn't, John Lennon. Sure it isn't.
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
have you listened to the words in the song?
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
its about a picture that some kid drew
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
why do people always assume songs only have one narrowly defined meaning? My theory is that the song is both about LSD and inspired by the picture... It's not a coincidence that the line "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" has the letters L-S-D. Given that the song was released in 1967 and Lennon and others first used LSD in 1965, and given that the lyrics of the song go well beyond describing a simple picture and are loaded with what sounds like descriptions of psychedelic visuals, I think it's pretty hard to argue that Hoffman's problem child wasn't in mind when this song was written.
Anyway, you're probably right; DMT is among the most visually intense psychoactive substances out there. LSD could lead to this sort of experience, too, although many feel that any visuals an LSD trip may include are minor sidenotes at best to the more abstract elements of the psychedelic state.

Paul McCartney's son brought a picture home that he drew in kindergarten, and Paul asked him what it was, and his child said that it was "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Lucy was one of the kid's classmates.
I do agree though that many of the lyrics sound drug-induced.

Actually Paul Mccartney admitted a year or so ago that the song was in fact about LSD.

2,5-dimethoxy-4-chloroamphetamine aka DOC definately gave me the most intense hallucinogenic drug trip of my life. On a dose of just a few milligrams, ingested 9pm on a Friday night. First the world started breathing and morphing, everything was just fun. Then before I knew it every memory, idea and experience I had ever had was coming at me simultaneously. The feelings it aroused were so alien, as if my mind was in another dimension, another time. Then my life became a puzzle, the pieces were everywhere and I was reliving the same moment trying to put them back together. At some point I had just figured that the space-time continuum was destroyed and I existed as nothing. The next morning I found myself in my room, in bed with the sheets and blankets torn off, the door was locked. All that flowed through my mind now was "what the fuck just happened", still nothing was real. I called the friends I was with the night prior, asked them if they were still alive and begged them to pick me up. I felt like I had lost a part of myself in another dimension, I failed to put my life together. Feelings of lethargy and visual distortions remained much of the next day and I was not able to sleep until taking some diphenhydramine at 10pm Saturday night.

.... a girl with kaleidiscope eyes....
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
picture yourself in a boat on a river
with tangerene trees, and marmalade skiiiies
what a way to open a song
oh, and i heard it was johns kid that drew the drawing not pauls, but like solistus said its probably incorporates lsd as well as the picture, and who knows what else. john lennons lyrics are so beautifully abstract it doesnt matter what the song is about it just matters that it sounds right.
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And sheâ??s gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And youâ??re gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle,
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes.
made some of the obvious things bold :D
