More pics. This was Northern Lights from femaleseeds.nl Nice plant. Very dense for a 150. Perfume like taste.
Ive got more pics on this grow, at least from the beginning stages and such. Anyway, this one is California Orange Bud from Nirvana.
More.
More.
Good plant. Has a citrusy taste... almost like orange peel. Potent too.
Wow dude... very cool!
What light(s) do you use?
Very cool looking buds man... how much time do they have when you flower them?
How do you take the close-up pictures? With your camera, normally? Or with a microscope contraption?
Side-note: I've got the 'Flick My Bic' lighter... somewhere... around...
Thanks man,
-turtle420
.
BTW:   on the pics/grows :)
I run a 1 chamber grow, the clone chanber underneath had problems (mainly stealth/heat) so its dirt and pots andstuff ya know storage.
I use 2 26w CFL warm spectrum bulbs for initial light + warmth over peate pellets in a humidity dome. Mist inside dome daily. Remove lid when seeds germinate. 1 day after the seedlings rise, I switch to 2 30w cool daylight spectrum CFL's. When the thrid set of leaves emerges, I add a 3rd 30w cool daylight CFL. Thats what they get for vegative growth. 90w daylight CFL ~ 4-5 inches away (24-0). People dont like miriacle grow, but I use the moisture control blend in a 50/50 perlite mix for soil. I like it. I usually only add food once for vegative growth, whish I use dynagrow/dynabloom hydro nutes in a 1/2 label per gallon mix. I prune for yeild and LST my plants for light dispersion. Plants veg to the 7th node and i top, leave 6-8 branches on the top and prune the bottom branches. After prune I wait about a week then go (12-12) and force flower. Plants are flowered under a 150w HPS light with a plexi glass heat sheild keeping plants cool and heat uptop which is expelled by 4, 4" PC fans. Theres a 2" gap in the front to allow passive air intake into the cabinet. Plants are flowered per breeder spec or until ~70 stigmas died and cylaxes have swelled (sinsemillia condition). Pot sizes are peate pellets ->4" pots ->6" pots and to 10" pot if i think shes getting root bound.
Pic is newest babies. Taken 10 mins ago. c99 from feemaleseeds.nl the new x-line :):)
And hey, thanks man! Appreciate the kind words <3 Its a hoby grow. Keeps me smoking. And quite honestly, the more you grow the better you get, i grow better than anything i could buy! Anything I want too :) Im trying different strains :)
Happy babbies :D
Impressive I love what you've done with the cab
hey Bro' from OG - super nice cabinet job man. mine is a converted office supply cabinet. your plants come out real nice man but let me ask you if you think they could be stronger? because if you grow indoors without repacing the UltraViolet from the sun, not all the THC happens right. at the pet shop they have UV-B lights for lizards that will work to make Trichomes and stone-ify the THC. get a strong unit and keep close to plants. or else sun-tanning lights are UV-B and will also do the trick. good grow books will mention it, but thats all. Marijuana Botany by Robt Clark spells it out. UV-B = THC. Stoney - dave zap.
outstanding grow, and your pics and explanations are very helpful .... I am getting ready to start the Northern Lights/Cinderella 99 hybrid in my new cabinet, hope I have results even close to yours ... your buds are much larger than most of mine in the past ... something always happened that forced me to harvest early, but now that I have a legal prescription, I wont be paranoid about waiting it out ... welcome to the forum ! ... :smokin:
Thanks everyone. Heres whats been going on. Was too lazy to take a pic as of now... but tonight I just transplanted into 10" pots, powered HPS on. Gonna give them a week in veg under the 150 to get use to the new pot and increased lumen, then I go 12/12.
excellent job... congratulations on the previous harvest.. plants are lookin pretty good.. 2 plants need 90w CFL, eh? what about 6, would it be tripled? What's pruning? I'm good with the topping and pinching, I was trying to find a doc on it a while back but couldnt find a successful one on the site..
What dimensions is that cab if you don't mind me asking?
Sheist,
First pic. I've done 4 with 90w. But its all about what you intend on doing, and what the plant needs. I keep my plants trimmed and pruned and LST'd and relatively small. Grow to your enviroment, thats the best advice I can tell you. The plant will let you know what it wants or needs, and give it or take it away from it. I KNOW I can put these couple blubs in w/ minimal airflow for stealth purposes and keep them rather small till point x... ya know? I also know 6 blubs in my cab is murder on heat... unless i run fans stronger (which is at night for flower again for stealth. this cabinet doesnt exist to anyone. not even me. when im not taking care of them it doesnt exist ya know? **I** dont even wanna hear it). I digress, im high sorry... But yeah. in my cab... id add another bulb... 4. Maybe a 5th if it got crowded w/ leaves to penetrate a lil better... but again thats growing to enviroment. A plant needs ~1k-2k lumen to stay alive. More ya give after that factors into everything else :) I dont give a shit about veg i want smaller plants with branches... hence blue spectrum daylight cfls ;) I want a lil stem actions early hence I germ w/ lower warm cfl's then switch ;)
Oh..... and second pic is example of what pruning and LST can do. Maximise where growth goes and where flowering hormone goes when its in 12/12. I like this pic, one dude on OG dubbed them "donkey dick colas" and I thought it was funny.
Tada, np man.
(first pic) orig blueprint... when I bought the cab (wally worly btw) and orig intent which i did and that grow was a terror. No lies. see second pic. DWC didnt work for me. Water temp and ph and blah and loud bubbles and blah blah just a headache. Plus if i had a spill I had my electronics underneath and thats bad.
Anyway. So the dimensions are on that first pic. Im really high right now sorry. This is basically the keif from the bottom of the jar from the last few grows. the bottom was covered in it <3
What was I saying? Oh... so yeah... Youll notice things changed. Example. I found that I needed to add two more vents to cool the HPS to run 24/7... uh.... yeah pic 3 or something.
Lets see. This is the bottom electronics section as seen in 4... Yep thats it... central hub of operations. And two wires from the back of the cabinet... 1 to the wall the other to the ballast in the tv stand next to it out of sight out of mind.
And pic 5 was my Mini play attempt. I was trying to make a germ/veg box before I did anything. This was my learning curve and this thing has long been distroyed. It never saw use.
Nice i think i remember that pic from OG (R.I.P) keep up the good work.
Timer goes on tonight... lights off at 9am. Start of flowering.
I dig the setup man.
2 Day into flowering, and they're starting to stretch. This is where I use a technique I like to call rustling. Because they're in a cab, they have weaker stems. In nature the wind would be tossing them all over the place. So Every day now I go in for 5 mins and take my hands and rustle the branches on each plant so they get weak and saggy and droop over. This accomplishes two things... 1 stronger stems. 2, while they droop over some this open up the entire inside of the plant allowing light to get to all the growth shoots creating a nice bushy effect. All those lil growth shoots are now getting a full blast of mr HPS.
Once cylax development appears, the rustling stops and I begin to train her so that those innermost future budsites are getting all the direct light possible.
just wondering about the smell while flowering
if you have the complete thing sealed does the smell leak out when not open?
Ah yes, odor control. Well I try to grow the less stinky strains to start with, as my means are simplistic at best. How's it go? Keep it simple stupid? ;)
First pic is the back of the cab's 4 main vents.
Second pic those same vents covered w/ carbon air filters and some duct tape. (home depot/wally world/whatever) Violla.
The room the cab's in also has a small closet ozone generator near the exhaust filters. And on top the cabinet I have a airwick diepensor can thingy. Squirts 9-18-or 36 mins. I keep a citrus frangrance in the room which blends in quite well w/ the orangy Cali-O, c99 has a faint lemony smell so ive heard anyway which is PERFECT (and so far I dont smell a damn thing). Ironically, my NL was one stinky bitch in the final days of flower no lies (despite everyone sayin its low odor which supprised me), it smelled like hardcore herb.
So like I said dude, as far as odor goes, lower odor strains are my solution ultimatly. I'm not about to grow some super skunk X ny desil or anything outrageous like that. The neighbors 3 blocks away would smell that -- and thats not good at all!
(ps sorry for the shitty quality pics here)
Nice thread you got here BHB you really seem like you know what your doing. I'm a newer grower myself but I've been around at this point. I'm wondering from your own experience what kind of yeild I should be expecting with my most recent grow. I'm growing Northern Light and Papaya strains both from Nirvana(Dr.Chronic). What do you think will come from 6 plants in 1 gal pots if I begin flowering when there 6" tall. I am veging them under 200W of CFL and flowering under a 400W HPS system.
Hard to say man. So many things are variables. Pot sizes, not so much size vs number of nodes before flower, initial lumen -> flowering lumen, topped or not, each strain varies on bud production and density, etc. If i was a guessing person, id say as a ballpark guess ~3-4oz per female. Maybe more. Also depends on how anal you are manicuring. I leave alot of extra leaf on (anything coated in trichomes is fair game to stay). Too many things can influence the outcome straight down to how lightproof is the dark period.
And now, a public service announcment. I was bored ;)
30 second dollar bill joint rolling made easy.
lol, random second thought. if i could guess your weight before your done dude --- id be guessing me some lotto numbers instead :D
lol well 3-4 is sort of what i was epxecting but i get what your saying about variables. thanks though
Day 9 flowering. 1 or 2 locations showing cylax development. I think its a save assumption both are female. Plant on the left definatly has more indicas trains, right more sativa traits. Also as a control test base, indicas dominant plant has been pruned. Sativa dominant left alone. No prunes no cuts minus topping.
Day 11 flowering here. Got a side shot so you can see the height of the stretch. Both plants are aprox 1 ft tall. Got a top view too so you can see all the yummy budsites forming... And, my personal favorate. Pic 3. What every grower wants to see! :D I violated her to show you this. She still young and innocent ya know :p
day 14 flowering. im overgrowing my cabinet and loving it.
I may have to top the toped colas, the one plant has already reached the plexi heat sheild!!! Talk about a vigiorous plant! I got nowhere to LST too, theres just too much marijuana in there!!! Lol... too much?!? pfft. I might just let em go and see what happens. :stoned: :stoned:
I know I know, its only been 2 days since I posted. But its a beautiful thing watching them buds start to take shape... what can I say. :D
Day 16 flowering.
Looking real good!:D
Just kinda looking at some of the other posts around here, I stumbled across this message that I had posted to help someone else with germination problems. Opening it back up and reading it now, days and days later... I realized its a fairly good post and decided to repost it here as well to help others.
These web sites, posts, bbs, books, you name it.... have been so helpful getting to this point, and I am grateful and wish to give back to the community, and pay it foreward so to speak. The one thing that I've learned on this great growing adventure though, no amount of knowledge actually holds weight vs sheer experience.
I have no problem in admitting I'm still by far a rookie. But I grow good bud so I dont care. Anyway, w/o further adue................
I've tried various methods of germinating. This works best for me. Me. To each their own. Humidity dome, peate pelletes, 2 26w warm spectrum cfls for initial light + warmth.
Soak peate pellet's till fully expanded. Take a small poker, push seed pointy side to the left or right (you want the taproot to grow out, then down so it pushes the seed upwards to break the surface. straight down is bad.) aprox 1/4 - 1/2 inch into the peate pellet. Keep a little excess runoff water in the bottom of the humidity dome, and mist the lid of the humidity dome daily. When water evaoprates from the dome lid, mist again.
Couple days after cotelydons (sp? i cant spell for shit) show, remove lid. If you need to, you can carefully carefully carefully help remove any shell that refuses to break away on its own.
Keep peate pellets moist, mist seedlings daily till roots appear. Transplant to pots (can use in hydro. peate will break away over time. you will get peate in your water supply as it breaks down so make sure this doesnt compromise your airation system/pump.)
They just dont stop!? They're filling my cab <3 I had to take the heat sheild down... Been pruing away whatever gets too close to the light, and moving a growth away to go up beside the light! They're the budding tops too I'mma let em go, trim anything that gets to close to the ehxaust vents... Trimmings are quite nice, im rather high at the moment on 3 day old clippin's. Im thinking... the sativa in her means imma have to let this one go a lil longer than 8 weeks... but with a FULL cabinet, I believe the results will be nice :)
I dont think im growing "plants" anymore so much as mini bushes :p
Day 21 flowering (week 3 mark).
what size of pots are you using?
bonghitboy420 in your first set of pics tell me how you did that to your plant
Plants germ'd in standard peate pellets in a humidity dome purchased from home depot's garden section. Seedlings were moved to 4" pots. Usually, I then go to 6" pots then 10" pots, but I let the plants go longer than normal in the 4" pots to form a nice root ball (almost root bound actually) then went straight to the 10" pots this time. Plants are being fed a squirt/mister bottle full of water ( 1/4 gallon ) w/ 1/2 tsp dyna bloom 3/12/5 hydro/soil nutes DAILY. No burns, just plumbing up. This strain apparently is hungry and can take it... So I'm feeding it to her... been feeding her daily now for the past week :) When and if she starts showing signs of burns, ill cut back to just water. :)Quote:

Aprox 1 mo into flower, prune lower budsites aprox 3-4 inches up from main stem. Use string to spread branches apart some. All growth is now focused to the remaining budsites on the few branches left. Called pruning for yeild. Hope it helps :)Quote:

I rather have 1 nice plant ya know... couldnt let this one hinder the others growth when the other plant was looking better anyway. (tho i smokes this schwag herb and it was good i will admit)
Pic 2..... Now I LST her and open her up to fill the space!!!
In pic 3, youll see the budsites on teh plant I kept alive. See... too nice for day 23 to let the other one choke her out especially when the other one didnt have hardly any budding going on.
And finally, after seeing these plants go... I decided to grow this strain again, this time w/ a lil now i know a lil more what to expect with it... I have "high" hopes for this plant.
And now, day 33 flower! This catches us up nicely. Look at how much shes's filled out since the other plant's been taken out of the picture. Dramatic difference from day 23 to day 33. Pic 1
Pic 2 is just one of the pretty colas. I know I know, leaves are a lil curly but this branch rests up on the door cover so whatever. Shes healthy I promise :p
See, pic 3... healthy yummy bud... mmm... Im finding it hard to believe shes still got like a month to go. Look at the trich's!?! This is a lower bud too! Anyway, I think its a pretty budshot none-the-less. So perdy.
