Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
your little guys really might not stand a chance.. the plants dont like miracle grow... ESPECIALLY in their early veg/seedling stages.. they'll have a better chance at makin it in cramped space than acid dirt

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Well I dont know why miracle-gro does so bad :P but the only advice I have for you is to atleast make sure there is more N than PK.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
I'm using it right now and its going great. Drainage isn't the best, but you could mix it with pearlite.
I think some people say not to use it, but I dont know why. I have no complaints.

Because Miracle Grow soil releases nutrients slowly....
So, when you're 5 weeks into flowering, the soil will be dropping nutrients, while you're going crazy trying to nail down why the hell all your leaves have turned yellow and your plant now looks like a bald chihuahua.
Then, you'll smoke your buds, and they'll taste like something familiar... but what??
Ahhh... yes... the same essence you got when you opened a bag of Miracle Grow for the 1st time in your life... ahhh....
(I think)

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Turtle you saying that alone is enough to make me not use MiracleGro lol.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
but MG only releases nutes for 3 months, max. So my 4 month grow wont have "tasty" buds.
I see how MG would be a problem if the cultivator doesn't realize the nutes are already in the soil.
If i could go back in time, I probably wouldnt use MG so that I could control my ferts better, but I think MG can be used successfully if you dont fert too much.

I used mirical grow soil and my plant is ok, although it might just explain the rusting of my buds now.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
maybe I've been lucky, but I've grown for years using nothing except Miracle-Gro, and I have the healthiest plants of all my growing friends ... BUT.... I use it only as a once-weekly foliar feeding, with a hand sprayer, getting the underside of the leaves well ... I add no nutrients to the soil :smokin:

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Very intersting input on the Miracle Grow...
I don't have experience with it, but that's what I've read. But it's very interesting to see that you guys say it works well... Interesting!
And I didn't know it released for 3 months... I thought... well, I didn't thought that out... ooops...
Anyways, that's the general stuff I've read... but hey! It's great when you go against the tide, and prove your ideas right.
I'm on my 1st grow, and I'm going hydro... but... I don't know... what ever works for you... If Miracle Grow works, great!
Best guys,

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
cool grow man.
Could you tell me what ferts you used, what percent strength (as directed, or duluted?) , and in what stages?
Im just trying to prevent over ferting.
Thanks.
-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
I have canna terra nutes (veg and bloom) although i didnt have these @ the begining and used MG nutes. As for the amounts i used, i used about half the recomended dose untill the plant got fairly big then slowly went to full.
As for the sucker with its own cfl. I just though it would be fun 2 experiment with it. Unfortunatly i dont have a hps only a 200watt envirolight, but i to think it will be interesting 2 see what that little one does. Oviously it wont be as big as the top buds but bigger than it would have been with out the cfl. As for the high we will have 2 c about that 1.
-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Cool, thanks.
I think your yellowing leaves are a result of over ferting. The MG releases nutes for 3 months, and then you added full strength nutes on top of that. I'll probably use half strength from here on out.
Thanks for all your help. Nice plants, and good luck!
joe.

-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
i haven't read all the answers but no matter...here's what i do:
i use miracle grow ferts during veg at half strength on my outdoor grows and have always had good results. but their potting soil is another story...i strongly recommend against using m.g. potting soil as it's just too hot and tends to burn seedlings and transplants...imho

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
I used miracle grow ferts and mg soil because it was very available at the time in Sept.2005. Germinated 18 out 20 seeds in it, 13 out 18 female. I used 1/4 strenght per quart water and added root stimulater after each transplant. 13 plants is alot for one 400hps in a closet. For 60 days of flowering I did not have room in closet for that many plants, so I rotated half every 12 hours. WHEW,that was a lot of work! but it was worth it. 30 mason jars of the best weed I ever had. First grow, following the mainstream advice, of the masters.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Wow, thanks for all the responses.
I just got back from vacation and to my delight the little guys have grown A LOT in the last 5 days - Maybe even doubled in size, but I could be exagerating.
Anyway, despite the massive growth I do notive that the leaves have a very yellowish tint to them instead of that rich green. I think they are experiencing a little nut burn from the miracle grow soil. Also, I believe this soil is slightly acidic.
So, here are my two questions:
1. Will the plants adjust to the nutes in the M.G. soil? and if not what should I do about that?
and
2. What can I do about the acidity of the soil? What do you guys think about flushing them. I know this is a technique used a couple weeks before harvest to rid the soil of fertilizers, but perhaps I could use it now to make this soil a little more mild and tolerable for the guys (girls). Would that put too much strain on them after the recent transplant and possible nute burn?
Thanks for any advice!

I germinate my seeds in a weak-dilution of Miracle-gro and water, I foliar feed with a hand sprayer once a week during all stages of growth and flowering, and foliar-spray plain water the other days ... I only stop the Miracle-Gro about two weeks before I figure on harvesting, then spray daily with plain water to rinse off any leftover Miracle-Gro ...then dry and cure normally ... Im no conisseur of flavor, but they taste fine to me ... my plants have always been extremely healthy ... am I just lucky ?? ... of all my grows, (maybe 65 plants, 6-8 at a time, plain old street bag seeds, I have only had ONE MALE ... never spider mites, etc ... never any yellowing of leaves, etc .. (oh yeah, I always stick a rusty nail into the soil next to the main stem, for iron) ...other than that, no nutrients, plain potting soil, ... I guess I'm just 'old-school', but REMEMBER: cannabis is a WEED ... the shit grows anywhere, anyhow ... I know I've had great luck, but eradication efforts fail miserably because ya can't hardly kill the shit ... just my thoughts ... GROW, ENJOY :smokin:

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
if it's not broke don't fix it...right? although, i would be very hesitant to foliar feed late in flowering because of the risk of mold. it would be safer to just add the ferts when watering imo. i never foliar feed myself.
-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
only reason I got into the foliar feeding, was I read Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal's book about growing, many years ago .. :pimp: .. anyway, they claimed at that time, if you only foliar feed, you won't over-fertilize ... being paranoid with my first grow, I followed instructions, and all went well ... Im not too informed as to the new nutrients, or hydroponics, either ... just an ol' dirt farmer .... :smokin:
-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
as i said, if it's not broke don't fix it. if you haven't had any problems with mold or anything else then you must be doing something right. keep it up. you could always do an experiment: grow 2 clones side by side. foliar feed 1 and feed the other with waterings and see which ends up better in the end. it sounds interesting to try.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
I will try that soon ... it would be nice to not have to clean the Mylar all the time, from the overspray ..
-
Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
I use a sprayer and spray the leaves down with fish emulsion. Then I water it depending on its size probably a couple gallons a week on a hot week. I don't foliar feed during flowering. I'll till alittle bone meal into the soil and give it a small dose of some 0-49-0 shultz fertilizer. And after that nothing but water only when it needs it. I live in georgia and it tends to get quite hot so i water often.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
What is the difference between Miracle-Gro and other commercially available
fertilizers and hydroponics nutrients?
Most of the fertilizers readily available are very general purpose mixes
that do not work well for all types of plants.
Most commercially available fertilizers are meant for fertilizing plants
grown in soil and do not contain all the necessary trace elements.
Spectialy fertilizers contain all those trace elements, and are also made
to be very soluble so that the plants can easily uptake the nutrients from
the watering solution. Those other fertilizers will work to grow plants
but they cannot compare to the results you will experience with our
nutrients. Most commercially available fertilizers are like junk food for
your plants giving you quick results that do not last very long.
If you want to grow right then use the right nutrients.
Miracle Grow is not for dichotomous short day resin producing plants.
Tomatoes & flowers are not in the same group as Marijuana plants.
That is why you do not use Miracle Grow or anything that has the name
Miracle Grow in it for Marijuana period.

Indoor grows is where the problems come in.
Outdoor MG nuts are great because of the outdoor soil.
When growing indoors MG tends to not drain out well but to me thats the growers fault.
If you dont overdue it (Miricale Grow is the #1 Misused Fert in the world)and have good drainage a good MG feeding then a drain feeding will work great on indoor grows.
I will say that this is the case for ANY nuts at all if you dont have good drainage and you just always add nuts and never flush them out with pure H2O then your soil will become acidic and kill your hard work.
As far as the soil it sucks I didnt know any better and I used it many many times when I started with much failure.
It is only after I started using other soils I became successful in grows I would say the MG soil was to blame as I do everything the same as I did when I started with a few tweaks as the years passed of course.

Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!
Thats why you should go organic. Organics improve soil structure and microbateria that break the complex nutrients from the organic material into usable nutrients for the plant. So it feeds as it breaks down which is over a long period of time for if you use organics to don't have to fertilize for a long time and this prevents over/underfertilizing. If you are growing outside consider organics...

I use plain potting soil with no fertlizers added ... nowadays, I use straight Kellogg's AMEND, made with compost, rice hulls, etc ... anyway, after my sprouts are a week old, I start spraying them once a week with Miracle-Gro Miracid, 30-10-10, and a shot of Superthrive ... I probably cause too much humidity, but I foliar-spray every night with plain water, and once a week with the nutrient mixture ... my plants seem to like it,(or I like the time with my plants ), but it seems to work out ... when going into flowering, I will change to Miracle Gro Bloom,( I forget the numbers, but optimal for flowering ) ... about 2 weeks before harvest, I spray with plain water only ... no taste that I personally notice, I don't claim to be a 'taster' sort of smoker, I just want the high ! ... my plants have been extremely healthy from seed to smoke, so I can't say anything against Miracle-Gro products ... :smokin:
