When to go from 18/6 to 12/12?

I've identified my 3 plants as all females( I ordered female seeds), they are about 9 inches tall and appx. 4 weeks old. When should I go to 12/12?

The leaves on your plant right now are growing one on each side of the stem...

"Alternating Nodes" is when the stem has one leaf on its left, then, a little further up, a leaf on its right.

my babys 4 days old bout 1 inch no stretching "lights have been on whole time" 24" floro with hood should I give them some darkness?

prepare to have the space for it, because when you flower most
cannabis strains they can sometimes more than double in height and
width.
If you have pre-flowers and want to flower you only have to
do one thing. You must put your plants under a 12/12 schedule.

I've always just used the old double the size measurement. Once put into flowering it normally doubles in height.

I.e. If its 2 feet tall after 6 weeks of veg and then put into flower it should roughly only grow to around 4 foot.

Definitely... I'm on my 1st grow, so I don't have that much experience, but the general number I've seen is that the plant will grow from 2 to 3 times its veg height. So carefull you don't end up with a tree... ;)

Alternating nodes is a sign that the plant is mature, but doesn't mean you have to flower. You can keep going at 18/6 for as long as you like (space permitting) keeping in mind the plant will double in size after switching to 12/12.

To answer your question more directly, you can switch to 12/12 whenever you want, as long as its not still a baby.

I usually like to have plants at about a yard (metre) in height at harvest so I usually start to induce flowering at about 18 inches (half a metre) in height;)
