I'm sorry that its come to this. I've just bought another pack of smokes even though I'm trying to quit. If anyone who's quit smoking (tobacco) before can help me out with a few hints Please!
I do smoke grass on a mostly-daily basis, if that's of any use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Weightlift, oh yeah, eating sweets is a good thing...And um...lets see...Patches? But they are crap..Gum is good..Not the nicorette and shit just regular gum. And a pen, to chew on or something since your probably in a habit of putting something in your mouth in that similar shape..
Alright heres an idea, although im not sure how well it would work it sounds hella fun. Buy a very large bag of weed and whenever you crave a cig just smoke a bowl instead. Do this for a while and then you will have forgotten all about that nasty baccy.
An herb called Lobelia will help.You can add it to your cannabis
i'd like to join dj in asking for tips what might help, i've tried other methods (patches 'n shit) and plain cold turkey, now i think i'm going to try the wellbutrin with maybe some classes? i gotta stop pretty quick, for good.
Every time you get an urge to smoke drop something heavy on your nuts. You'll forget all about that urge...;)

i don't really know what o tell you, i've tried to quit atleast 20 times so far... (serious attmepts...) i've done everything from completely cutting myself off from ciagarettes and everything that seems to lead me to smoking, to doing it gradually as well as trying numerous stop smoking aids..
i just don't seem to have enough will power to do it... like... i'll have it in my head to quit, i'll want to quit... but for whatever reason i end up going back to it...
all i can tell you is, prepare for a very treacherous battle... nicotien withdrawls only last about 72 hours, but you will still crave cigarettes years and years later (my grandma quick back when i was like 14 or so, i'm almost 20 now and she still has strong cravings for them) but that's all in your head, that's where will power comes in, you have to be able to tell yourself that it's all in your head, and your body doesn't NEED the nicotien.. just your mind wanting to repeat bad habbits... keep yourself away from smokers, or situatios you often need to smoke in (if your family stresses you out, and makes you need a cigarette to calm down, avoid them as much as possible, shit like that) two more things to know.. 1. if you give in and only smoke one cigarette because "it's only one, and i won't start smoking again cuz i have just one" you are about 95% likely to pick it back up... 2. it takes alot of people multiple times to finally kick the habbit, just because you go back and do it the first time, doesn't make you a bad person... esepecially if it's your first.. if it's first tis' an almost gaurentee you will end up doing it again... because no one is really prepared (or could understand the difficulty involved) for quitting smoking, until they've gone through it.
I had a tonof trouble quitting. I got help by my mom because she tok my cigarettes away and grounded me. But to get past the withdrawl symptoms I stayed constantly high for 3 days straight. When I sobered up all I had left was the want to smoke but luckily with time that passed. I recommend trying to stay stoned most of the time and sleep more so you don't have the time to contemplate smoking cigarrettes.

when i quit smoking i chewed LOTS of juicy fruit and always had a pen in my pocket in case i wanted something else to chew on. And also everytime i got a craving id just go smoke a bowl and after a while i dint really want cigarettes and i smoked on not to long ago just to see if i still liked them and actually they were very unappealing to me and kinda made me feel sick. Been trying to get my folks to quit for the longest, it's like I can their health slowly decaying. I've heard of pills that can take that would every time you tried to smoke tabacco, would make you feel sick to your stomach. Give it a through google search.

I smoked for over 15 years before I finally quit. I tried cold turkey several times and it never worked. I did, however, come up with a plan that did work and I've been cig free for over 6 years now. You need to be committed and it does take a while but it also really works. At least it did for me. Here's what I did.
1. First identify when you smoke. Keep a little notebook with you and write down every time you have a cigarette. Do this for a week while smoking like you normally do.
2. After a week average out how many smokes you have each day and find the patterns you have for smoking them. For example: after lunch/ dinner, before work or school, coffe break, etc.. Write these all down. They are now the only times you can smoke. Follow this schedule for a week to get yourself accustomed to it.
3. After one week of following the schedule cut out one, and only one, cigarette. Its only one smoke and you know exactly when the next scheduled smoke is coming so its not so hard . Continue to not smoke that scheduled cigarette for a week. Make sure that every day its the same cigarette that you not smoking . You don't want to jump around in your schedule.
4. After a week of that cut out one more smoke, continue to do this until your down to 5 or so smokes a week.
5. Once your down to 5 smokes a week the physical addiction will pretty much be gone. Now go out and find the nastiest tasting smoke you can find. Something that you really don't want to smoke and probably won't finish one of them. For me it was some nasty little flavored cigars I found.
6. Now, when you have a cigarette scheduled, go and smoke one of the nasties. You'll get a bit of the nicotene, all you'll really need, but will probably not have the whole thing. After a while you'll find yourself not wanting to have the next scheduled smoke. By this time you can just take the plunge and stop all together.
7. Once you stop the only other barrier is the continued psychological addition. this is the toughest part. You know how when you need a smoke now you get that anxious feeling? And then, when you have the smoke the anxious feeling goes away, right? Well, stress from everyday life will give you an anxious feeling too. Your first tendency is to reach for a smoke. It took me several years before I didn't want to have a cigarette every time I was stressed out. The thing to remember is, the cigarette won't make this kind of stress go away. After your smoke it will still be there and you'll just be pissed at yourself for having a cigarette.

Maybe its because many of the previous times I quit cigarettes by taking up snuff. Definitely not the best way to go about it - and a few times I became addicted to the snuff. But snuff will get you to ditch the cigs, at least it did for me.
But then again gum probably works just as good. Or Lobelia.

the patches do work. nicoderm cq worked for me until i stopped using it because it became too expensive but it does work. gum and nicorette dont do anything for me
