Does smoking weed affect your ability to synthesise protien? I heard that smoking tabacco can have hold you back if you are into bodybuilding as I am.
I was into bodybuilding in high school, and to the best of my knowledge (personal experience) it has little to no effect as long as you're excercising and eating right.
i'd advise against smoking before a work out but other than that as long as you keep it chill you're good
It's so strange you should bring that up. I am completely into bodybuilding and have been wondering the same sort of thing. From personal experience, it does not seem to have affected my ability to grow at all. Alcohol, on the other hand, is really really detrimental. I started drinking lots when I first got to college and it really screwed up my workouts to the point where I made no progress at all. But marijuana's all good :rasta:

i dont think it has any bad effects on working out.
i smoke and work out at the time sometimes... WHen i do, i feel like i have more energy, and i zone out on it kinda. hehe... meditational exercise.:stoned:

I am in really bad shape and have just started working out after a long time. I've lifted while stoned several times. I got the idea from Kevin Spacey in "American Beauty." Anyway, I seem to be gaining a ton more muscle than other times I've worked out regularly.
As long as you don't smoke so much (or have a high enough tolerance) that you don't get completely silly, you should be fine. (i.e., you don't want to get into a laughing fit in the middle of a rep).
If I had a personal bench, I would totally sit in the garage, listen to Led Zepplin, and lift weights while smoking a joint. You would be so concentrated on having good form...Quote:

depends on the person i guess. in my experience if you only smoke once in a while youll be fine but when you get to the point of being constantly fried and you're perma toasted then it starts to affect your workout... moderation is the key ;)
working out high sucks. but getting high after working out is awesome
