I have heard a lot of good things about CO2 -- So, I decided to mix one myself. My question is how do I use it? Do I just spray my home made CO2 into the plant? or do I have to add some water afterward? please advise. thanks

Yikes dude... are you sure?Quote:

As to your CO2... You mean Carbon Dioxide... right? Well, it's a gas.
What do you mean you "mixed one yourself"?
You can "spray" it?
Well, CO2 (the gas), is present in the air, @ about 300ppm (I think, or it's 200ppm). For plants, you have a CO2 tank (or generator) and you pump up CO2 into your room, so the CO2 level reaches 1500 - 1800ppm. There, the plants thrive.
Because you're pumping CO2 into the room, and you want to keep X level of ppm, you cannot have your exhaust/intake fans running. You need an air conditioning unit to keep your room/cabinet @ a stable temperature. When you use CO2, you might want to let the temperatures climb to the early 90s.
In addition to the CO2 tank, you need a regulator, and a couple of other relays, timers, sensors to make everything work...

.
p.s. carefull you dont blow your house up...
Or kill your self... CO2 is odorless, and colorless... you won't see it... the 1500ppm levels we where talking about, are absolutely DEADLY to humans... and dogs... and cats...Quote:

I think you've missed a couple KEY elements to CO2 enrichment. I assume you are using a fermentation approach to CO2 manufacturing. Don't spray anything anywhere. Fermentation should be done inside a jug in the grow room. A fan should be placed to disperse the co2 from the top of the jug, bottle, etc.
CO2 is a gas (unless very very cold). There is no way to spray co2 onto plants. Plants breathe CO2 and release oxygen. I use CO2 in a tank and it is spread over the plants with an oscillating fan.
If you're not using an HID dont bother with CO2. Your plants are not getting enough light to utilize CO2 enrichment.
Be prepared to excellerate your growing schedule when using it. They use everything faster.
I dont understand why you would spray "water" (a liquid) after putting "CO2" (a gas) onto the plants. If you're talking about spraying whatever "mash" you've concocted directly onto the plants then you shouldn't do it.

"p.s. carefull you dont blow your house up..."
CO2 will put out any fire you have so I wouldn't worry about blowing your house up. CO2 is NON-FLAMMABLE!!!!!!!!!!
I've never heard of anyone dying from 1500ppm CO2!!
Where does this shit come from?
CO2 is about 0.0314 % at sea level.
It will kill you if you have a HUGE tank malfunctioning in an enclosed space. Or cracked open like some ghetto grows.
You would need a HUGE fermentation vat going at balls out to even come close to killing you in your house.
Obviously youre not ready for CO2 and you should post some pics of some fat nugz growing b4 trying it.

OH CRAP -- I went into a website it show you how to mix CO2 with easy step and things we can buy. 2 liter bottle, water, dry active yeast. I mixed these things together. I thought you would just spray the mix ingredient (co2) into the plant...hahaha what a dumbass..oh well I'm still learning ..luckily I didnt spray a drip of my Eistein mix into the plant
No, when yeast and water are mixed with sugar the yeast beings to eat the sugar and the outcome is CO2.
http://fish.orbust.net/mixture.html
That's a good way to get it to your plants.

I saw listing on ebay they has CO2 tank for paint ball gun/beer dispense (not sure if it contain CO2.) can you feed these type of CO2 to the plants or they are two different things?
can you purchase CO2 for the plant?
Shiloh,
Just use that yeast mixture you made. Put it in an open bottle and have a fan above it blowing on your plants. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE! The thing is, i think you can only use it during light periods. Im not sure if its light or dark, but i know you cant always have it going. And dont worry it wont hurt you or your animals is nothing close to enough. Im not sure about what turtle was saying about 1500PPM killing you, he could be right, but i know that your little mixture wont produce that much CO2 anyways.

Yeah, I searched, and toxic levels of CO2 are 200,000 ppm. So please, Sativagrowing and everybody else can feel free to stick their heads inside their grow rooms when the CO2 is @ 1800ppm...Quote:

what is "ppm"? how do you measure those number? thanks
They have meters to test ppm. The paintball CO2 tank you saw is a CO2 tank just in a smaller size. Because of how small it is, I'd suggest you not getting one of those and instead getting a scuba sized tank. You can probably find places to fill your tanks around local stores. Paintball stores, usually a sporting goods store, and maybe a hydroponics store. Hell, even home depot or Lowes might fill them (haven't checked). Goodluck.
ummm... thats a joke right?? :rasta:Quote:

to my knowledge you cant buy bottled up deadly gas... or we'd have a bunch of mini-hitlers running around using them.
you CAN use sodium-free seltzer water as co2 - there is actually a lot of CO2 in 1 bottle... you want to mist the UNDERSIDE of all of the leaves... it actually helps - they recommend 3x a day if thats your method, but 1x a day, right at lights on works well IMO. it must be sodium free... it should just be carbonated water.
i know a lot of ppl use the cheap-o method of makin' co2 with the yeast and all - but IMO tanks are the only way to go... you get dependable co2 thats always working, and a GAUGE tells you when you need more.. you dont have to stick your head in a bucket and see how much you yack to tell if your co2 is workin.
I fill mine at a welding gas supply store. It costs me $15 to fill up a 20 pound tank. The tank usually lasts between 1 and 2 months.

Yeah dude, I searched... I stand corrected.Quote:

Will you enjoy it? ;)

tru man - i wasnt tryin' to sound like an ass... sorry if I did.
I'd like to see someone do the yeast method with a ppm meter... even though those cost more than the regulators :)
i dont even have co2 yet - but i've been looking at it... I have 2 problems with the generators... 1 - they make heat, which i'm actively trying to get rid of... and 2 - there is an open flame in my grow room - i would just be worried about comming home to firetrucks in my driveway.
I think the tanks would be the best (for me) because you can put them anywhere, and they'll last for a long time.. I dont have a lot of floor space, but I do have some ceiling space.. (i got my carbon filter on the ceiling already)
anyone know what the ppm of co2 is if you just chill in the room for a while? my grow room air circulates from my office - where i spend all day - so i think my plants get all my co2 :pimp: just dont know how much it is - cuz i havent invested in a ppm meter.
I use a CO2 canister from a paintball gun. I partially screw the canister onto the gun to allow CO2 to leak out for 10-15 seconds every 3 hours during the light cycle. It's obviously not a precise method, but its cheap and the plants sure love it :)
If you have a larger grow room (im in a closet), a larger canister would be more logical.
co2 tablets are ok you just add them to your water i was going to use a cannester as i have loads of acsses but the tablet work ok and have added magnesium for the deficiency that c02 causes
