Minors and Message Boards

A friend has a message board and allows everyone over 13 to post.Well a 14 year old was posting and such and another member~without knowing the age of the person~made a reference to a sex act in a post not even directed at this other member.The parents found~snooped~their child's computer and saw what she had been looking at.They want the person charged with an overt sex act.They got the ISP address of this person~now being called a pediphile~and a major Internet Provider gave the personal information to the cops of this person and guess what?Yup..They came over and questioned him..This is all I know so far..

Really? huh. Maybe the parents should be keeping a better eye on their kid. The person is 14. Surely the parents would know that their kid would be learning about sex at that time, maybe even having sex.

This isn't a big deal in my eyes because if you were to type "boobs" in a search engine, you would get 700,000 sites to choose from.

10000000% parents and daughters fault not one damn reason why that person should get in trouble in my opinion

thats rediculous it wasnt even directed at her?? thats just stupid they could ruin that persons life just because her parents are a little over protective

i dont see any reason for parents looking at their children's internet history, unless they are under 10 years old. after that, a kid is gonna get curious and is going to go to a porn site, no matter what you do.

I was interested in porn by the age of ten :D

I wont believe this story until some kind of link is given to verify the story. The details are way to sketch and it sounds like BS.

Some parents are lame.Why do they insist on holding the world back from there children? I'll be damned if they don't find out behind there back sooner or later, so why not just be apart of there life instead of shielding them from it.

If a parent is that concerned, put the computer in the living room where you can easily see what the kids doing. There are parental controls you can put on there, but there is no excuse for not knowing whats happening with their kids. The parents seem to be going a bit overboard 'if' this boy is still just a boy. The problem is there are so many pervs out there preying on our kids that you cant be certain whos who.
It doesnt sound like this kid targeted their daughter, yet the parents do have a right to be concerned. Some of you have you frillies in a bunch over your 'imagined' rights.
As for "rights", I dont give a good goddam about kids "rights". You live under your parents roof, regardless of age, you dont have a whole hell of a lot of rights. The parents have every right in the world to check out what their kids are doing on the internet, theyre paying for it. It is our duty to our children to sheild them from the "horrors of real life" as long as we can. To allow them to be children as long as they can be. Too soon we have very little control, what we teach and stand behind today, shapes who they become later.
Many of these replies are just kids opening their mouths only to have stupid fall out. Doesnt anyone have any clue that there are people who really care about what their kids are doing ? That trying to keep kids safe is what a parent does when they love their kids? Come on, think a little before you just go off half cocked. They say our children are our future, what kind of future do you want? Dont be dumb, really think about it. The way some of you are responding to this post, our future looks pretty damn scarry.

I want a future where children are treated like the human beings they rightfully are and not lied to and exploited for the sake of "safety". I understand what you are saying ladyM but what you're describing sounds more like an antique table than a child.

so, who fuckin was it? i am a "minor" why would i care if some one said something about sex to me on the INTERNET?!the internet witch is 95% pornography anyway. my parents dont give a fuck weather im looking at car parts or talking with some 40 year old rapist, they could careless. especially on a PUBLIC message board! if they are SO worried about there kids on the internet, dont fucking let them on! i mean, seriously. even watch them? or maybe parentel control? i dont know...its not like it was sexual harrasment or anything, i mean i get email every day from people who want to make my penis 3 inch bigger. you know?

Am I the only one who is trusted by there parents to do nothing dangerously stupid.

It's up to the parents weather or not to impose Parental Limits on their internet, not the person who runs the site. If you so desperately want to wrap your child in cotton wool then surely you would have parental filters on your internet and not expect a stranger on the internet to censor sensitive information.

Like I said before, I'm 95% sure this thread is BS! There has been nothing in the news about it and the thread starter has yet to post a link or tell us where he heard this story. Plus he said they looked up his "ISP address" which does not even make sence.

This thread should be locked.

Silly humans, you still always find the need to blame other people for your own failures. Parental controls are WIDELY available on any ISP (even with IE). If you're that worried about your children then don't let them on the internet or monitor them when they are on the internet. It's that simple. You can blame other people for your own shortcomings as a parent.

Dont let them use the internet let them eat cake instead.
