Alright. I was just looking up porn, and SOMEONE (not I) got a SHITLOAD of viruses/trojans on our computer. I had already fixed most of them, but I was still working, when all of a sudden my mom popped in complaining about the smell of these here oysters I'm eating.

Well, at the time I was checking on the virus scanner, and she went to open the window behind me, so I decided to hurry and X out of the site...www.frogsex.com...while her back was turned, so I switch windows, press X, then the fucking thing locked up for a second.

So, my mom turns back around, and is confronted with WWW.FROGSEX.COM in big bold letters and several naughty pictures under them.

So, Bill Gates and Windows...CAN EAT SHIT AND DIE AND THEN BURN IN HELL!

Porn is where the people try to get you. Try to stay as secure as you can and know your sites.

yeah in the future...when it comes to emergency situation...the old turning off the monitor and then hitting the computer power button might be more affecrtive..."ohhh damn it ...the computer restarted itself" ...so what happened afterwards? I guess you could have said the computer had a virus and kept opening that page....

The easy way to stop it is never use IE. Never. Even with the most up-to-date patches. It's just not safe at all.

Also, some browsers use IE to render pages, thus making them insecure also. Firefox is the safest.

She just flicked me on the side of the head and said "Don't be looking up dirty sites" and I just kept silent.

Tell her you're gonna transfer her favorites, for her, onto the Firefox browser, so she can use Firefox for her mail and web-surfing because Internet Explorer gets hijacked a lot and allows viruses to get onto your computer.

I've tried everything. There's no convincing her. She thinks IE is safer than firefox and actually blames ME for malware on our computer. Even when the process came from someone else's profile.

I used a free trial of HistoryKill, which had the coolest feature... just hit Alt-Space and all IE windows vanish. Even minimized taskbar icons. Works fast. Hit again and they come back. It had other features too but since the trial expired I just go without.

I always wished you could list other programs to hide also, like photo editor etc. but you couldn't do that. So now I'm writing my own code for the purpose. Strictly to hide selected programs at the touch of a hotkey.

If anyone knows of a program that does this, it would save me some time. On the other hand, when I get around to it, would anyone like a copy?

PS- all programs suck, but IE isnt that bad. I've used it for years and only been hijacked a few times, and its easy to fix when it happens. Getting hijacked is like a speeding ticket, makes you feel dumb and you learn to avoid it.

if you were running a virus scan, why would you still have the site open? at first i just assumed it had popped up, but upon re-reading you nowhere mention that it popped up while you were cleaning your computer...
