need help identifying a drug

alright well my dad is a Doctor and he is able to get his hands on any perscription drug. He recently gave me a pill to help me sleep. i looked at the pill very closly and memorised what it looked like. i searched his drug cabinet frantically (i wanted to know what it was so i could take some when i cant sleep with out him knowing...he didnt want me to know what the tablet was for some reason...) i found a the pills in the cabinet, there were 3 bottles of them....but all with the most of the labels torn off...so he obviously doesnt want me and my family to know what he is taking. I took some pics of one of the bottles. Can anybody here please help me find out what it is?

A pill bottle means nothing.. it could be asprin or M&M's in there.

need a pic of the pill, and this is in the wrong forum for future referance.

only problem is, the label's torn off.. chances are all that label will tell you is where you got it from and who it's prescribed to...

dw guys ive found out what it is, its called Temaze and is used to treat insomnia. its a benzodiazepines<------what is it lol.

and i think i know why my dad uses it...my mother does not allow my father to drink more then a glass of wine with dinner....and he loves to drink and get drunk. It says that the drug lowers tolerance to alcohol.....well know i no why he gets drunk off a few glasses of wine...

yeah pic of pill will help identify the pills. I think you can even buy a book to help you identify pills by there aperance.

Tranquilisers (I think they break them down into sedative and hypnotic, dont quote me on that). eg Xanax, valium, these are benzos

Proabably a relative of Valium which is also known as diazapam. If I'm not mistaken there is a version of the PDR (physicians desk reference) out on the web somewhere and if dad is a doc, he probably has one laying around somewhere.

yeah valiums are diazapam. the temaze is temazepam. and he takes both of these. im gettin abit worried

Don't stress, I know a few people who have sleeping disorders and need these sort of drugs (I havnt heard of temazepam but have done a few others and nothing to worry about imo)

fuck guys, ive just figured out all these family problems...but i dont know whether i should confront dad or tell mum, you guys would probably understand more if you knew the whole story, which im not going into btw

my dad doesnt have sleeping problems, he has other issues....and these drugs are no good for him (coming from the research ive just done)

On the contrary, I believe these are also members of the opiate family and are highly addictive. Valium was the " mothers little helper" mentioned in the Stones tune and was passed out like candy back in the 50's and 60's to stressed out housewives, most of whom ended up in some kind of rehab. Today, it's Prozac which is probably even worse. Doctors are some of the most common abusers of prescription drugs due to the amount of stress they are under with high patient volumes and easy access.
LittleWing, you can try to talk with both of your parents but there's a good chance that you mom is enabling you dad in his use of these drugs. Not knowing the details of your situation, all I can say is good luck, ride the bus and move out when you can. And don't give up on your folks. The majority of drugs have serious side affects after long term use. How long has your dad (littlewing) been taking them for if I may ask? I was only considering the short term affects of these sort of drugs (benzos), the people I know havnt been doing them for very long.

Umm honestly i dont know. I think 1 year maximum. i read that the drug is only meant to be used short term...like 2-4 weeks, so im kind of confused here

Just wanted to inform all the people who helped me out that dad had been perscribed that medicine from his phycirtrist or however the fuck you spell it. he takes it when he really needs to sleep like after he has a night shift or something. i talked to mum about it and she explained it too me, im so relieved lol. thanks for all your help guys. i find the you stoners on cann.com are really helpfull and compassionate, once again thank you all

Temazepam is used to treat a large number of conditions.

My missus has it perscribed in low dosage to control muscle jitters, and alternates between this and Amitryptolene (both in low dosed). In larger doses, Temazepam can be used as a mood-stabilising tranquiliser, often perscripted to people who suffer with a Bi-polar Mental health issue (for periods of Mania).

It is a highly addictive drug, specifically because it dull certain senses and pain receptors. Over long term use, this "dulling" of the senses becomes what the body and brain adjusts to as being "normal", so when you come off these perspription drugs, the real normal state no longer feels "normal" - in fact it can become quite painful.

Its not just about what pills they are, its about the content, the regularity with which they are taken......

Incidentally, a picture of the pill is much more easy to identify than a picture of a bottle with no lable... LOL ... I think someone may have mentioned this!!!
