thanks :)
best thing i've ever seen and i can't stop listening to it.
smacking the guitar or bass all over is hardly good tequnique to me anyways no matter how fast you smack it. now if they were playing chords, scales, melodies it could be good
the bass technique is called popping man. its pretty awesome. and i find it a good technique when u know how to use it man
stray harmonics arent my thing bro. I play mostly metal and there isnt much place for a bass player tapping the strings like hes actually making notes that go to the music. I figure maybe they should play drums instead. It doesnt take much talent to smack the guitar like a bitch's ass. I have a bass and I know how to do that shit too but I hate it. Give them say Paganini's 5'th caprice and I bet they can't play it
you soloist or rythmic?
thanks dude, awesome video.. i WISH i could do some of that shit :p
here is some more of Victor's stuff....
i was going to post a couple of his vids....but this one is the best out of the others....its like Amazing Grace....but more amazing..
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...=Victor+wooten
lol...i think he's an awsome bassist.
He was pretty much the pioneer of techniques like double-thumbing, open hammer plauck and double popping....i dont play bass so i have no idea what these are...lol...but i still think he is awsome.
Wow, that other video was equally as amazing as the first. That guy's the man.
hey musician
I play lead and rythm and bass. I have been playing for 22+ years.
wow how cool is that i had no idea you could play a bass like that
I thought that technigue was called "slappin", thats what my brother calls it, hmmmm???Quote:

well i know theres a technique called slap/pop, like both of them combined, where you tap the string with the thumb and pop it with the index, ya know?
thats a pretty crazy video. the bass player is sick, although at parts, its like they are just slapping, and it doesnt sound good at all, but it looks crazy. and i wasnt as impressed with the guitar player, but they were both doing tight shit.
yoda I agree dude, some of it sounds horrible, it's like they're just doing it to show they can do it, not to make nice noises. it's more like they're going for a guinness world record instead of jamming. still awesome shit though
Slap poppnig (at least with a Bass) has its place in Metal. i have a friend who can play some insane slap pop riffs and he was in a metal band. Kind of makes a funky metal sound.Quote:
