My mom confronted me the other day.

In late March I'm going to have some plastic surgery done on this huge gash I got across my chest while skiing a few weeks ago. Anyway the other day I was reading in the living room while my mom was scanning the info pamphlet for the hundreth time because she is really scared about sometime happening to me while I'm under the knife. At one point she stopped and pointed out to me that the surgery will do a blood test before the operation because they can't opperate with alcohol or any type of drugs in my body and she made a point to tell me that weed is considered a drug.

Keep in mind that I've been smoking on a more or less regular basis for the past half year and although my parents have never caught me I've always been positive that their parental intuition told them that I was up to something.

Anyway, after she made her point she just flat out asked me if I smoke or have done any other drugs. She has always been a very understanding mom and although she was never a big partier she was very kind to me the fist time I got wasted at a party. She even held my hair back when I instantly puked in the sink after entering the house (I'm a guy, I just have pretty long hair).

Sorry for all the digressions. Since I know that she's understanding, trustful, and I feel comfortable sharing my life with her I told her that yes, I do smoke every weekend and maybe on 2 or three weekdays.

Since her facial expression never changed to a grimace or some petrified glare I knew that she was expecting that answer and was glad that I was being honest with her.

So she, wanting to be a good mom, told me the basics such as don't drive while high (I never have) or do anything stupid to hurt myself or my friends.

The best part was that before I left she told me how she knew that I always smoke outside and although she appreciated it she said that she would be fine with me just smoking out of my window. Her only rules are that I can't fuck up or let her see me because although she isn't bothered by weed she doesn't want to think of me as some drugged out hippie spending all my time playing Smash Bros and eating rice cakes (my favorite munchie food). Lastly she thanked me for waiting until I go accepted into college before doing it on school nights...ha. It's great to have such understanding parents.

If any of you are paranoid about your parents finding out perhaps you should see if they're dropping hints about you smoking or you should drop hints that you smoke, just to gague their reaction. They may not care nearly as much as you thought they did.

Thats a pretty kick ass mom you got man your a lucky one and i wish i could play mario it doesnt work anymore so i just watch toons and i am out of it so yeah man thats a really sweet mom you got ask her to teach you to bake

im kind of in the process of telling my parents, i spent an entire high once planning out a slow step by step plan to letting them know while keeping them open minded.. really tough to do :(

and like i waited at the school then like i got into the car and shes like why do u look like ur high?....she knows couse my brother started around my agae ahahaha
shes really cool about it though same here just doesnt want me to get hurt

ive been caught twice, and my dad tried to send me to juvey both times, first i got caught rollin one up, second i came in smellin like it.

My mom knows i smoke now.
But she use to think i smoked cigs and not weed cause she found a packet of them in my room that i used for cutting into joints :p .

I was caught the first time when my mom came home right after I was smoking a blunt in the garage. She knowingly asked me what the smell was, and I said I didn't know. I just got here. The nieghbor came over and started talking to her about the edition's synchronized christmas lights plan, and I went inside. I ate a bunch of Peanut butter cups and passed out. She never confronted me.

I was caught the second time when weed was found in a knife case. My friend rolled a joint on it, and forgot about it. I never knew to clean it up.

I denied it, and since my mom knows I have parties, she didn't disgregard the possibility that it could have been somebody form of those.

The last time was all me. I left with a friend and came back, eyes bloodshot, and went straigh to my room. She called me down later and asked to smell my fingers. It was undeniable. I haven't heard of it since.

My mom's not a huge fan of logic, but she may have grasped some in this case: "He makes great grades, he works his ass off, and he's never been in any trouble. So what if he smokes a plant? Hell, I smoked that plant plenty of times when I was his age."

Actually my dad had always known cuz he'd make comments like "someone has got the munchies." But just yesterday he walked into my room and and jokingly said "got any weed on you?" and i replied "not anymore" and he sat down and told me the he doesn't care if i smoke because he knows that it is better than alcohal and its a harmless drug. He also told me about his HS and College days and how he used to sell to everyone they used to call him Nick Hashman. He told me if I ever wanted to try any other drugs to ask him about them and he wouldn't stop me from using them because he himslef had used everything except heroin. Its really cool actually and i may ask him to smoke with me next time i buy a bag. I love both my parents my mom might be a little "disappointed" but she wouldn't be mad. Cool Parents Kick Ass!

my mom found my stuff one time and i was like yeah mom i do smoke a lot because i want to and you cant do anything about it because i made the choice so why cant u just accept it

and now, i pretty much cant go anywhere at all. It sucks. She just says "well since u said we cant stop u then i guess we just wont let you leave the house"

my parents are so stubborn and they wouldnt even read some stuff i printed off, or listen to what i had to say. they were just like "its illegal so its bad for you and people die and stuff from weed" and that just shows me that my mom knows nothing about it and is only going by what those god damn anti drug websites are tellling her.

That sounds exactly like my parents. They are so stubborn that they simply refuse to listen to any reason except their "It's illegal so it's wrong" bullshit. Like, they don't even want to learn anything about it.

So finally when I moved up to college I calmly but plainly told them that I smoked weed regularly, I was going to continue smoking weed, and that there was nothing that they could do to stop it. I told them that I had straight A's and one B, so that seemed to make them happy. As long as I don't smoke and drive (I would never consider doing that.. it's just too damn risky).

I just ended up toking with my dad one day so I didn't even have to tell him lol

Hah where is all this anti-driving while high sentiment coming from? Damn kids! I cant drive ujnless i have either a beer or 5 in me or a few j's.

I'm in the same exact situation. My mom even told me that she doesn't really doesn't care if I get high at home or whatever, but just to never accept drugs at a concert or something because they could be laced with something a lot harder. I don't think that this implies she is completely ok with me smoking all the time though.

It really hurts me to hear you say that. My uncle who i really loved died in a carcrash he was hit on the drivers side of the car by a drunk driver.

Driving drunk is stupid as fuck, but I've driven high every single time I've been high. Not a real big deal. Atleast for me, anyways.

well i got caught with weed the first time when i was in 7th grade, i came home one night from one of my friends houses and my mom was up in my room and called me up (basically i was like ohhh fuck, i almost knew what it was) and pulled this huge MC Escher print book out from under my tv stand (i wasnt hiding it at that time) which had like a quarter out on it in a bag and little piles of ground up bits like some kief and just kinda sorted stuff.

i thought i was screwed but then shes like "well i realize its really not that bad, (i had already had alot of drug discussions up to that point), and ive known for along time youve been experimenting but youre still keeping your grades up plenty" and then she continued to explain about how she thought it should be legal but it's so she just didnt want it to be in her house and she warned against me doing it just because she didnt want me to have my life ruined over getting in legal trouble. then my dad came home about two weeks later found out and ill just say he wasnt as understanding... he left and i skipped school the next two days cuz my mom let me

but for my mom shes totally cool. im on drugs alot around her and we have alot of really philosophical discussions, she asks me sometimes if im obviously on something like if my eyes are dilated, my eyes keep moving really fast, or if im talking entirely in rhymes and patterns which happens when im on lsd and dxm alot of the time. but even when she knows im on something she doesnt continue to interrogate me, she grew me up listening to pink floyd, the dead,led zeppelin, the doors, and stuff like that, how could she not expect it from me to be more open towards that kind of stuff, and when she told me she was proud for me getting a 27 on my act i told her i was on acid when i took it (about a week after my results came back) and i also had two ear infections which i learned later that day thats why i was having headaches for the past two weeks and she just laughed at me and made me reschedule it to see what i could get next time

basically your parents arent smart and as long as youre not dumb with drug use and its not fucking with your life by consuming what you love they shouldnt have any right to go completely berserk with you

Duude, nothing feels better than being honest with your parents.
I remember feeling so shady when I first start smoking a few months ago. It was depressing, I couldn't handle it. So I sat down and told them over dinner.

They weren't too happy, but that wasn't the point.

i would much rather drive with a freind thats stoned than pretty much anyone sober.

i find that the people i smoke with are more cautious while driving high. they dont wanna get puled over, so they slow down, and drive carefully...

and i used to have a friend that was a maniac on the road while sober, but after a few beers he was a really good driver. then again, i know another guy that once had a car wreck going 3 miles an hour while he was drunk

i guess it depends person to person

yeah for some reason driving while high isn't hard at all for me, but driving drunk is horrible (i have done it like once, baaad idea but luckily nothing happened). i've also driven on mushrooms which also wasn't terribly hard although very exhausting.
